we had some Cat 785 trucks here in s Wales here in the u.k in the late 90,s my partner and myself plus the driver spent an hour in the truck on a local open pit coal site, great fun. they since been scrapped off.

Awesome, Volvo owns Mack. These trucks are built in Australia for our conditions.
95 ton tipper plus 60 ton float and truck combination thats 150 tons.
These chassis have 200 ton plus load ratings.
Here heavy haulage and roadtrains is dominated by Mack, Volvo, Kenworth, Western Star, Freightliner.
Many Euro trucks aren't designed for our extreme conditions.

The floats have air lift, the trailer is lowered, they reverse or drive the dump trucks on, they raise the float which lifts the wheels off the ground.

fh 16 700 3400nm/950rpm...mack with cummins isx 2780nm/1100rpm plus 200nm with smart torque.short time.mack e9 v8 2780nm/1200rpm.
The volvo only has 3150 nm of torque. It's the 750 that has that 3400nm of torque

The pilots in the vehicles front and back guide them + these Oversize truck drivers are very experienced operators.
@@colinl9018, I am an oversize driver and my pilots can't see what I need to see down the side of the unit I'm pulling. Therefore, I have a mirror bar that extends to almost 18 feet.
It they were not necessary, they wouldn't make them.

Do they lift the trucks onto the trailers because the wheels are on the sides of the trailers?
They lift them on with a crane
No, they put the trucks on 400mm ramps with inside tyres removed lower the suspension on the trailers and reverse under the dump trucks. Then raise the suspension on the trailers and pull the ramps out then lower trailers to travel hight.

why most of these machines are transported backwards? Meaning, their back facing the tractor? I looked over many pictures and videos and while it is not always the case, it is very common.
