The whole laser pointer bit was indeed due to Blake being a cat Faunus. And in case you missed it, the shampoo bottle Ren had says Samurai Shampoo, a reference to the anime Samurai Shamploo. Also, RoosterTeeth once sold Nora's headphones in their shop after fan demand. This was the episode where we all learned that it wasn't Blake as some people thought (as the photo we saw only showed someone with long black hair from behind) Yang was looking for info on, but Raven at Junior's club back in the Yellow trailer. She was also supposed to have her own dress instead of the generic ones, but they ran out of time before the video had to be rendered, as they made the first few volumes while they were airing them.
Ah the wink that started the fandom obsession with the bumblebee ship😁.
Team STRQ info. There's plenty more to know, but this is all you get without me dropping heavy spoilers.
Summer Rose: Ruby's mom, whose grave she was visiting during the Red trailer, and Tai's second love interest. Also raised Yang as her own daughter.
Taiyang Xiaolong: Yang and Ruby's dad, who we haven't met. Formerly involved with Raven, and later Summer.
Raven Branwen: Yang's mom, who we haven't met, Qrow's twin sister, and Tai's first love interest.
Qrow Branwen: Yang's uncle by blood and Ruby's honorary uncle. A teacher at Signal Academy who taught Ruby how to use Crescent Rose. Also, you may or may not have caught it...he's in communication with Ozpin. The "Queen has pawns" message at the end of Volume 1 was from him.
I highly doubt Taiyang was involved with Raven first, and then Summer. More likely the three of them were a polyamorous triad. 😁
Quo (crow) is the girls family uncle; but, in fact, is Yang's biological uncle. (brother of Yang's mother.)
This is my favorite episode of the first three volumes. Mainly because of the scene between Blake and Yang. There's just a lot that's very masterful about that scene. The lighting, the voice acting, the pacing. Finding out (finally) more about Yang (and Ruby by extension). The chat in the classroom just has this very warm and intimate atmosphere. It's one of my favorite moments of the show.
There's also some nice comedy beats with the scene of Jaune asking Ren for advice, while Nora sits like five feet away.
