I like how this interview, which is as old as I am, featured the line, "Independence Day 2, when they figure out when it's gonna be out, is gonna be gigantic." Sure took them a long time to figure it out, didn't they?
Love Goldman, but I kind of disagree with his opinion on Redford. I don't think he got bored, he got deeper into it by opening up his directing, sundance and then his environmental activism and still doing so, whereas Newman was playing with his cars as I believe he did get bored with Hollywood and used it to pay for his car racing habits. Though Goldman & Redford seem to have some bad blood from "All the President's Men" experience and you can kind of see it in his eyes and the way he answers about Redford. Its pure professional courtesy as Hollywood is a small world and hence why no one likes to talk negatively of another still in power.
Rose gets one of the top screenwriters and most knowledgeable authorities on the Hollywood machine on his program and only gives him 16 minutes? How short sighted. And disappointing.

I could listen to William Goldman all day. Every day.
Thank you so much for uploading this stuff.
Greatly appreciate it!
Thank you William 😊💓
A living, breathing, and thank God talking example of what is good, right, and intelligent in this (can be) wonderful art business.
That Sondheim comment made my heart flutter :)
Really brilliant man, wrote many hits. Kind of died unnoticed (mouth-breathers in Asia lol).
That includes the porn industry.
Amazing interview
Charlie Rose really cares
"I like Hollywood films. And they stink" - William Goldman 1997
"Follow the money" is not in the book, All the President's Men, and nobody involved with Watergate ever said it. That was Goldman's line.
Seeing a coloring event helped me (I still felt something with "surgery").

For a man who knows nothing about anything he's sure written some classic screenplays!
Goldman #1 RULE: Screenplay: Structure, Structure, Structure
Just remember THAT!
Brilliant human !
Venero esse homem o famoso o miserável e um genio
everything he's saying applies even moreso today.
"Oh, I'm not short."
Tim Burton: "I'm always surprised if my movie is a hit or a flop."
"Is it safe?"
Is what safe?
No, it's not. It's very dangerous. You better watch out.

There was a video of a disturbing, blind male.
I just wanted to forget.
“I was doctoring a great disaster” 💀💀💀💀
Hollywood really wants to make crap, except in the two weeks around the Oscars.

Charlie is such a wannabe
An Asian mouth-breather downvoted this.
While he was in the video store browsing pain porn...
