The way I learned it too you lean over down more your hand that initiates the kick (left) is at more of a diagonal angle in proportion to your body...

@@cookiesandcream2828 Normaly how you do it in an organization that is sports karate focused like WKF, but it is not how traditional Shotokan groups teach the jump.
But, at the end of the day, I'm not sure it really matters. I like the way the WKF jump looks better.

sassuki​ You're incorrect. Athletes don't have to start/end at the same point according to WKF rules. I am a licensed WKF judge. 3-2 was a fair decision. Japan team's true strength is bunkai - not kata.

They lost because they made de original Shotokan Kanku Sho (about the stances), not the WKF Kanku Sho (theatrical). But they made second jump, that doesn't exist in original Shotokan Kanku Sho, (although Yahara used to do in his kata)... For me, they were very insecure and ended up mixing things (just see the Sugino bends before the "second jump", and the other don't).
