I was always curious as to how they made ice cream essence. I'm not a chemistry person I'm watching your videos for educational purposes. I'm loving it so far, all of this looks so interesting!

Thanks, and ice cream flavours are pretty much the same as soda flavours (concentration wise) so if you put it in soda just use slightly more in ice cream.

I made this using the grocery store ingredients, imitation vanilla, almond extract, bannana extract, and a little bit of lemon extract. Obviosly yours would be better, but I thought it turned out pretty good. My daughter really loved it. Thanks for posting these videos.

That’s awesome. Glad someone tried it, and doing that is a good example of how easy making soda can be.

Hi, curious about the extracts you used to make your cream soda. Was it powdered or syrup form?

Hi! Darcy, what quantities of vanillin and ethyl vanillin are you using for the cream soda recipe that you demonstrate in this video? I was hoping to find the answer in your book "Fix the Pumps" however, this recipe is not in the book. Cheers, Brian

The fun part of this is that cream soda is the base for Butter Beer over at Universal....Butter Beer at Universal and knock-offs like Flying Cauldron are all just Butterscotch sodas. Found a vid on TH-cam from a guy who apparently used to work at the park and all you really need to make an at home version is butterscotch ice cream topping syrup and cream soda...that's it.

You just blew my fucking mind... i need to get some cream soda.

    • @ShinKyuubi

@@csigunner5087 Just get the mix right and it's good stuff. Also cheaper than Flying Cauldron butterscotch soda sold at Books-A-Million...that's good stuff if you can't make it to the park but it's like..$7 for a 4 pack of bottles. Get a bottle capper some caps, and reuse some old beer or soda bottles that use the kind of bottle tops you need a bottle opener with and you can make plenty of your own at home easy for a small initial investment with the bottle topper and bottle tops.

I get hung up on doing silly things like using coconut sugar in coconut drinks (did not work for my soda ut made a nice coconut syrup). I would be very tempted to use lactose at least in part for the sweetner.

Just tried making this off the patreon. Two quick questions.
    1. I only found ethyl acetate 10% in BB on perfumer's apprentice. I couldn't find it undiluted really anywhere. It smells super strong! Like nail polish. Is this expected? Should I even follow the same amount from the formula given that dilution?
    10% Ethyl Acetate
    90% Benzyl Benzoate
    2. I've mixed it with a bit of citric acid and simple syrup. I haven't tried it yet, but the smell of it doesn't smell like what I'd expect to smell. Almost smells more lemon-y than anything, but perhaps I messed up with my measurements (you did say Citral was strong). Excited to try it tomorrow, but perhaps the smell is different from the taste?

Can you please post the recipe in the description of this video? I don’t think it is fair to expect your viewers to pay for the recipe to get key details after watching your ad-supported video. Patreon is supposed to be for bonus content and thank yous, but here the TH-cam video, which is supposed to be the main event, is incomplete and unusable without a Patreon subscription. I might consider supporting you directly in the future, as I do other creators, but let’s not put the cart before the horse.

@@jacobharvison5920 well, the options are I quit making content or I figure out a way to cover my costs. If $5 is too much, could you move along. Expecting everything to be delivered to you for free and never factoring in my costs of buying ingredients plus the time to make and edit videos is a one-way street that only benefits you, which leaves me wondering why I make videos.

What is the difference between a syrup like this and something like Torani syrup? If I add Torani syrup to sparkling water it would not create a very flavorful soda. Is that because they aren't as sweet, or as flavorful?

So just made it and would like to give some feedback from an expert (laugh) (from my wife; she used to drink it in here youth in London. We in germany dont know it).
She thinks it is pretty accurate, just a little to 'floral'. So maybe a drop of beta ionene to much :) . I like i a lot. Thanks for this !
