  • The blades smiths from Traditional Filipino Weapons are known for producing outstanding, yes, Filipino swords and knives, however in recent years they have come to make some ubiquitous European and American designs. All of their weapons (of which there are many) are "battle-ready" and this Gladius is no exception. My brother got this for me a few Christmas or two back, saying, "Every house needs one!" I could not agree more. Do yourself a favor and check out the TFW website, at the very least it may open your eyes to how many cool and unique blades the Filipinos can boast.

    Very cool!That's a beautiful sword. One of the best looking Gladius swords I've ever seen in fact. I've been thinking that since I like all things sharp and pointy, that I should get a sword. Although for me, it would be just a wall hanger, I would still want it to be fully functional..it just makes it all the more cool. I agree on the handle..if it spins a little in your hand, your next strike could be with the flats instead of the sharp side. Not something you would want in a real battle.

      Timbo437 not for nothing, but Cold Steel’s swords are excellent and stout too. I have one and recently got one for my brother in law and both are awesome! And I’m with you, these days all swords are wall hangers but you still want to know you can go to town with it if he’ll is unleashed!

      Something people do not realize is traditionally, the Roman Gladius handle is round. Not oval shaped. So TFW makes them the traditional way just to preserve historical accuracy.

    Cool video. Been interested in picking up a gladius. Own a few TFW swords. May have to pick up a gladius. Thanks for the info...

      I agree. That round handle is a deal breaker. Gonna have to go with the dynasty forge one...

      My great pleasure, Mr. Kosakowski, I love your/TFW work. I also have the Ginunting (with the shorter sharpened swedge) and the Espada y Daga, and I really want the talibong and basically everything else! Thanks for bringing these great blades to us all!

    Sword looks great. But how strong is the tip? Many gladius reproductions have weak tips that damage easily. Can that tip punch through a car hood?

    • @TheKnifeJunkie
      @TheKnifeJunkie  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cross section right at the tip seems pretty stout. Car hood? Probably, though I don't know if the force required would put a bend in the blade at any point.

    As a filipino I don't believe that sword is really from Philippines

    • @TheKnifeJunkie
      @TheKnifeJunkie  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is made by sword makers in the Philippines who are aware that it is a working replica of an historical Roman sword.
