  • "Charge your worth." "Say no to bad clients." "Be your own boss."
    These are all well-intentioned sayings, but we need to talk about some uncomfortable truths when starting out as a Virtual Assistant 😬.
    Some of these truths are....
    1. The fact that you probably have to say "yes" to anyone when you're just starting out.
    2. The fact that you might not be able to charge as much as you want when you're just starting out.
    The good news is that nothing in your business is set in stone. Whatever rates you set now, you can change them! But first, you need some experience under your belt.
    What are your uncomfortable truths?

    these uncomfortable truths were very comfortable to me and they make sense. it’s been a week since i’ve dedicated myself into becoming a va and i wanted to start my rates from $18-19/hr since i’m now getting into the field. but when i went on social media just to get more info on how to become a va, a lot of the experienced va’s recommended that when starting out, your rates should be high which didn’t make sense to me especially for people like myself just starting out. i’m glad i came across your video erin i’ve bought several of your courses on udemy and you’ve been extremely helpful with my new path im taking for myself! thank you thank you!!

    Thanks for this honest information! Experienced VAs make it sound like it is all roses minus the thorns. When they actually make their money buy selling stuff to new, inexperienced

    I was just looking but this is actually solid advice that I have used as a self employed contract worker. Honestly people really forget you have to start at the bottom in order to get to the top! Just like climbing a tree! Thank you Erin Booth!!

    Great video. I learned many lessons at this stage of my career. It helped me decide what I wanted to do and with who. I also learned that I needed boundaries and what to charge. The first video editing job I did I charged $200 for a 5 hour video course. 😲

    I concur! when I was starting out my career as a VA I had to take in what tasks and rate there is being offered. The reason being is to learn the skill trade... Once I got enough experience with each task/project, its workflow and all other factors such as programs, operational functionalities, including timetable, until then you could come to decide on every important details to carry with you on your remote career. Also, "Personal Qualities", "Work Ethics", "Skills (Hard/Soft Skills)", the past (Administrative Office Work Experience) come significantly useful when starting out. Thank you again for this insightful and well explained video. Erin, is it okay to share your videos with my team as I see them all as great knowledge based tool to enhance their career and work as team players? - Garret

    Hi Erin, signed up for 2 of your courses so far. So my question is this. I have been an Admin asst for 20+ years, but the virtual thing is new. How would you start with plenty of experience but little applied virtually? Thanks

    • @ErinBooth
      @ErinBooth  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      welcome to the virtual world! I originally came from the EA world too (a lifetime ago). I can confidently say that almost every task you did in an office can be done remotely. I suggest reaching out to old bosses, managers, and coworkers to simply introduce your new services as a VA. Often times asking your immediate network to keep you in mind for opportunities is enough to get the ball rolling. Since you already have a STRONG base for the work, the best learning is going to be on the job. When you land your first remote client, focus on getting used to the work, work flow, etc. Once you're feeling confident that you have more time in your day for another client, it's time to market hard!

    hi, i want to buy your course on udemy and was wondering if its also good for those who have no experience in VA? I come from a different field and want to learn about it and maybe do freelancing.

      I opted not to film one but my experience was fantastic! I finished in 9 months (nearly half a year ahead of schedule, I believe because I wore my trays nearly 24 hours a day). I’ve been done since December 2021 and love my smile. Perfect teeth! No refinements needed. I had a permanent wire put behind my bottom teeth and wear trays at night. How has your experience been?

    I’m wondering how you all live when 35 is the high end and taxes take most of it? Serious question.

    • @ErinBooth
      @ErinBooth  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Is $35/hr a good wage?
      That's a subjective question that depends on your personal goals, expenses, where you live, and how many clients you're working with. Plus rates aren’t a stagnant- so if you start with new clients at $35, you can increase 6 months or a year into your work with them.
