You still have plenty of content that you can showcase from Northern Portugal “Terras de bouro” strange customs, medieval villages, amazing cuisine and Serra da estrela where Portuguese get to enjoy the snowfields. The northern and north eastern central eastern areas are the least covered areas of the nation. All the best 😅
Yes, I was born and raised in Valenca do Minho, a rusty old town across the river from Galicia in northern region of Minho, where you will find the best food in all of Minho is up north, I'm not saying food anywhere else is bad btw, but the best is up north, lol
My good friend here on Maui working for over 10 years here just retired over a year ago to Tomar. She loves it so much she said she's never coming back to the USA even Hawaii. I was kind of shocked. She's in official language classes at the local highschool and becoming a dual citizen. I'm going to visit soon. I've never been to Europe but planning to celebrate my 69th birthday in Portugal 🎉
Also my nephew is getting married in Tuscany in October!! Excited to go to Europe just a very long flight I'm not looking forward to but I guess most people watch movies and sleep!
Greetings from Funchal! Although not a permanent home base, what I like about Madeira is that whenever I stay here, I am reminded with the sunset and nature. Coming from a big city, one easily lose touch with nature's rhythm. So being here in the island is like a grounding experience every day!
Yep, truth! What we've realized after spending a lot of time in nature this month is how important it is for our well-being. I think us humans generally hugely underrate nature's importance! Especially grounding even when your new shoes get dirty 😂
I can't believe I will be on your island in 106 days!!!! I watched a documentary on Grounding, official research has been done, it is a real and honest to goodness thing!!! This may be the 3rd time I have said this to you folks, I wish you would do tours of Madeira, there I said it again. My wife and I will be in Lisbon and Madeira for my 60th birthday!! We are travelers and hold much respect for new lands we discover, next up Portugal!!!! Thanks again for great videos!!! Maureen 🥰
Also I wanted to tell you all that you both are very wonderful folks and being real is important, life has its ups and downs for everyone! So let's all stay positive and power on! I think you're both at an age where you are putting childish ways away and realizing what is really important for your future. Mahalo 🌺 for sharing your journey in life with us! Keep being you because only you can do it best ❤
Two Thumbs UP!!!! amazing video from two very incredible influencers...because now I feel inspired to visit Madeira. As for living...I just fell in love with Malaga and can't wait to move there. Madeira is truly beautiful!
And you worried your content would not be interesting! !! I love hearing both of your thoughts and how you are approaching life. I understand that 'grounding' is a new thing, although walking barefoot has been as old as mankind. I was never allowed to walk barefoot inside or outside of the home growing up. I believe it was due to my parents believing it was a sign of being poor (they grew up poor in Cuba). So when they came to the US shoes were a main priority and proud they were everyone wore shoes. I digress... you are right we are losing our connection to nature and self. Grounding is such a simple and easy thing to do to bring us back to center. Keep up the wonderful videos.
We live in the silver coast of Portugal. Close to Caldas Da Rainha. ! Visited Madeira last week... LOVED it, the nature wauw!! But also if you need city life, so many fun things in Funchal ! Also, we used your guide to Madeira sooo much :D! so muito obrigado for making it ;)
Great Video guys, really glad to see Joen sticking to sobriety, you both look great and the video definitely feels a lot more relaxed and happy then some of last years! I'll let you in on a little secret though......is this because you are both becoming Islanders?? It's a hard feat to attain for most people who come from larger countries/big cities, but once you make the switch you will never be able to live away from the ocean again. Someone once said to me people are either Islanders or they're not, and if you are not you cannot hack living on one for long periods of time, we see it allot with people coming for short periods of time and then leaving because they can't integrate or adapt to the ways of island life . For ref I'm Manx, living in the Channel Islands married to a second gen Madeiran....we love islands :) i honestly find it very strange to look at a horizon without seeing the ocean.🌊🤙
Hi guys! I am from Madeira currently living abroad and watching your videos always makes me feel like home, hopefully I will move back in in the next few years. Regarding camping, I believe you can camp outside anywhere, I did and I only needed to go to a municipal building at Rua Alferes Veiga Pestana (totally free of charge). Keep on going!
I was just going to watch some of your older videos and this popped up on my phone 😅 funny i was thinking about you all ❤❤❤❤❤much love, have a beautiful day! Or night...boa noite
Its so amazing to see you there! Its my Aunt and Uncles place and I helped to get the place ready. They are such lovely people and my Uncle Lenny is famous for his food! Been wondering how long it would take you to find the place. @@joenandamalie
Hey guys, Victor here from South Africa, keep up the amazing videos. Absolutely love them and you guys are so inspirational. If you're keen to travel to new places you should come and check out Cape Town here in SA, it's got similar vibes to Madeira, but come during summer time as it's not always summer here like there 😂. Much love ❤
Hey Victor. Thanks for your kind words! Truly make us happy! We actually went to Cape Town on one of our first youtube adventures back in 2018. The videos are still on our channel although quite awful haha!
I was in canto das fontes because of you guys! Back in 2021 and i saw you guys bar in calheta! I wish you all the best and please continue to make amazing videos ❤
This is why I like watching your videos,2:39, you are showing the real Madeira ,forget about the beer bottles 😂. Those drone shots on that path up around the mountain… I have wondered what it was like up and behind there. My grandparents and aunty used to own and worked some land up there many years ago.As a child i wanted to go and see it.I was told it was too dangerous even for adults , you could fall down the cliff! So now after a good number of years I get to see it😊 Thank you both for sharing your videos and for your continued hard work in producing them. Those buses were great fun around those bendy roads. Sometimes scary as it felt you were hanging over the sea as some crazy bus drivers didn’t know what bends were😅. The older people would shout at the driver to slow down and the younger ones would wonder why.As you grow older you understood why 😅. Bus drivers especially loved showing off to any tourist that would brave boarding it. Cars would spot the bus a few bends away ,sometimes quite a away away and wait at a convenient passing point. There was an unspoken protocol and certain awareness between drivers were a must on those roads. Rarely there were accidents apart from the rocks above!
I used to see every video you guys uploaded and loved it. As a matter of fact I always thought you guys did a better job in promoting Portugal than Tourism Portugal. I understand that monetisation is an important part, however it got to a point where there were just too many adverts specially non skippable ones. That put me off for a while. Often I would click only to be faced with 2 long non-skippable adds, that just meant me clicking away from it. I am pleased to say that on this video there were only 2 adds and they were both skippable, the result? I watched the whole video and am becoming a more avid viewer. Just my thoughts. Really brave last video and I am sure people did not watch this channel because you were drinking. Best of luck to you guys, you seem like really nice people and I am rooting for you guys.
I don't know if you'll have time to respond to my comment, but I'm seriously considering a move to Madeira. However, I have three young children. What are the education options for kids here? And would you say it's generally a safe place? Thank you so much for your wonderful channel!
About the crazy world, I recommend this film "Leave the World Behind" addresses themes such as the self-destructive course of human beings, and does so in an interesting way, avoiding the cliché of climate crises or wars between civilizations, focusing on the theme of fears and social conspiracies. It's a story about different social classes and racial discrimination (albeit in a sub-theme), about raising children in today's world and how external events affect us as conscious people, imposing fears that shouldn't exist. It also raises fundamental questions about how we live, think and who we trust.
Such an amazing part of the country! I can’t wait to go in April and get some insane content. Thank you for this inspiring video 😁 it really helps me strive to provide informational videos and just record my experiences everywhere I travel!
