If there’s one implement from one brand I associate the most with Midwestern ag and the corn belt, it’s the Glencoe Soil Saver. Nothing even comes close.
Those were great tractors. When I was a kid we had a 2-135 fwa and a 2-180 2wd. They traded for a 160 2wd and 185 fwa both had the 8.3 Cummins. Loved that sound. Later traded the 185 for a 170 workhorse. And added a 2-155 and a 120 2wd with the 5.9 Cummins. That 5.9 sure was snappy too. Great tractors
My grandfather worked as the production manager at white new idea in coldwater ohio. I was in there once on a Saturday with him, and I thought it was awesome seeing these things sitting on the factory floor ready to be shipped out. I was a little kid and I always will remember that.
I remember talking to White engineer Dean Barker. He felt that proper care and use, the 100 series should go 10,000 hours before any major work would be needed. Simple yet effective. Great video, Jason.
I remember when we got our Glencoe. Now THAT was a good purchase. Used White plows and a Miller offset disk up until that. Great tools, but the soil saver saved time!
I really like to, see these tractors, especially when they are in fine condition like this one, and even more so while doing tillage. Merry Christmas to you and your family BTP!
*White tractors have a cool vibe 😉👍, and their impressive turning radius is worth noting 😁👍. It's awesome to witness a Glencoe Soil Saver in action 😃👍.*
Our white American 60's had Cummins cummins with Lucas cav injector pumps and some slightly different outside parts I believe the CDC cummins and the regular Cummins were built in different plants
Neighbor had a 185 he affectionately named Elmer after the retired farmer he bought it from. Bought it to pull a 8600 Case IH air drill. Spent a few hours riding along with him chopping silage with a Gehl 800 chopper when him and dad chopped corn together
Thanks for posting, an interesting looking unit, she looks too short in the wheelbase department I reckon nut certainly doing a nice job of preparing the soil for what ever the next crop will be. Andy from Adelaide, South Australia.
No they wouldn't. The weight balance and ride was poor because of the short wheelbase and that tight turning radius wasn't super necessary in the US with the width of implements increasing and our wide open spaces
WFE has a great history. The company was always in upswings and down turns from the start in 1903. Allot of factors brought it to an end. They made allot of great farm machines.
See what? The stuff you're pulling is behind you and your reference is to your right or left side. You're rarely looking straight out in front of you in a tractor.
@@get__some that's fine I'm just saying they aren't that hard to see past. It's like looking straight up and asking how can he can see past that huge cab top
Did you know that there’s a difference between PTO horsepower and engine horsepower? Why is it you don’t mention both that is stupid and pointless. Both of them.
The reason I don’t not mention engine horse power is because the sales brochures from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s only listed pto hp for marketing. From the 20’s to the 50’s belt hp and plow size were the marketing focus. It was only in the past 20 years that engine horse power became the focus on all tractors and not just 4wds. All of my modern tractor videos share engine horse power. Each video I makes is based on the original sales literatures specs and focus.

Where can you buy the spring reset shanks for these ploews?
@@benjackson8103 good question, but I’d say finding parts shouldn’t be too hard. There were a lot of these built.
BTP Needs to get together with Chris Losey in Michigan and do some Oliver/ White videos. I would be all over that content!!!
Yes, that would be worth seeing
I haven't seen a GLENCOE chisel plow in a long time. Great tillage team.

Very cool experience to see these tractors new right at the factory. Thank you for sharing.

That's what they all say
Always been interested in Oliver and white tractors! The Glenco soil save r does a really nice job!
beautifully well-kept classic outfit...I enjoy seeing these no matter what color they are. That old Glencoe really doing a great job ripping ground!
White tractors look cool😉👍 the turning radius is impressive😁👍 cool to see a glencoe soil saver at work😃👍
This was a truly classic well matched tillage team.
I remember when we got our Glencoe. Now THAT was a good purchase. Used White plows and a Miller offset disk up until that. Great tools, but the soil saver saved time!
They changed the tillage market in a big way.
That's the way my grandfather's 185 white looked brings back so many memories he used his with either a 30' disc or 30' great plains drill
One of the best tillage tractors made ! Good heavy American made iron !
LOL.
@@bradjenkins932 what’s funny is the American made stuff is mostly gone .
@@johngnipper8768 No... That's sad!
@@bradjenkins932 That’s my point , it sucks we don’t have these good old companies any more .
We don’t have them anymore because they weren’t good!!!!!
I like the look of that that tractor. Has good turning radius for a 4wd. Probably why it turns so well.
I have one, short wheelbase helps turns but rides a little rough
I love White tractors!
They had a good product line.
Great video with an awesome tractor! Great looking team! Love our Whites
You have a very cool line up. I hope to get to feature your tractors some day.
Never done any farming personally, but have always loved seeing videos of these at work!

Always nice to see a White tractor working. Thanks
They are stand out tractors. I like getting a chance to catch them in action.
I like that tractor Jason. I never really seen many of those White tractors in Georgia. I guess it was more common in the Midwestern states.
LOVED that series .
👍👍
That is one sweet tractor.
That's a nice looking rig. I always liked the looks of those Whites.
Really Enjoyed your clips oh big iron
Excellent video 👍

One of my favorite tractors
👍👍
Nice tractor, never owned one but a drove a few Oliver's and a 2-155 white
The 2-155 was a good seller for WFE.
I never got to use a White MFWD from this era as the farm I worked on only had 2wds... Awesome tractors.
Oliver really pioneered FWA in the 60’s. It’s a great feature. I sure do like getting to feature high horse power 2wd tractors.
Great machine, we had them here in South Africa in the 70's and 80's
Very cool. I have a South African Oliver/White ad from the 70’s showing the 2270, 1955 and others decaled as White in Oliver green.
My parents had a White lawn mower I used when I was a kid, that’s the only White we ever had!
Good job of working the soil.
Excellent video once again big T 👍👍👍

i grew up on oliver's and then white's, now farming on my own, i have ih and case-ih tractors
Man I like that tractor. Hope you get plenty more video of it doing other chores.
I have footage of it mowing hay 👍👍

Big field looked like it was doing a real good job we had a white dealer 10 minutes from our farm
I enjoyed visiting my local WFE dealer as a kid. Thank you for watching.
Good video.

My Dad wanted a White Tractor back in 1985, but there were no Dealers around here, so He got a 4610Su Diesel.
Tudo bom tudo joia 👍❤❤❤❤
Thank you for watching.
Some of the sound is not hearable in this video. At any rate, it was good to see the White 185 pulling the Glencoe Soil Saver.
Good work 👍
Thank you for watching.
❤😊we had an Oliver white and Moline dealership in Le Sueur Mn Fitzke implement 😊😊
Green Giant in Le Sueur Mn. Also used the White tractors on the Company FARM'S !!! 😁
I can also remember going through GLENCOE Mn where they made GLENCOE SOIL SAVERS AND OTHER GLENCOE PRODUCTS 😊❤
Those twist shovels pull hard but they really move the dirt.
They sure do.
Very nice
Love your videos. We farm 1800,acres in mid Michigan ,use Jd IH equipment,
Great brands with JD and IH. Thank you for watching.
That's one damn Well taken care of White,we'll done to the Farmer who owns it
He has several nice silver and yellow tractors from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.
has to be the shortest wheel base of a larger hp fwa
I would think it is. It has a stout side profile.
If the economy wasn’t so bad in the early to mid 80s they would have dominated John Deere
WFE’s weakness was that its factories were getting outdated and their dealer net work while dedicated was not large enough.
No they wouldn't. The weight balance and ride was poor because of the short wheelbase and that tight turning radius wasn't super necessary in the US with the width of implements increasing and our wide open spaces
that tractor frame carried AGCO for a decade .....
bit more wieght up front would help, nice tractor though.
That is why they moved the front axle forward on the 170 and 195 tractors, to take out that bounce.
This or a JD 4850, best tractors ofvthe time..
LOL
Have you done a white 100
👍👍
Thank you James.
I grew up with Oliver's, Minneapolis moline s,and whites it's a shame white didn't have better management and still be in business

how can he see past that huge muffler? i wonder if Jason had this, if a straight pipe with rain cap would be installed. have a good day
