Jamie and Jeff, I loved the board game day! My wife was sick and was not able to play as much as we wanted, but it was awesome! The community you both have built is so inspiring and I love it so much. You two are incredible. Thank you so much for all you do and for our hobby. However, I am starting to think about calling it the Shelf of Surprise bc I'm usually thinking OMG I forgot I still haven't played this one yet?!😉

Star Trek Ascendancy is a BEAST. A buddy of mine had it for ages, finally got us to table it on a game night with four people (he also had the Cardassian Union expansion) and it's fun, but it's looooong. That said, we also hardly ever play 4X games, so if you're more familiar with those, maybe it'll go by faster. Star Wars Rebellion, on the other hand, is also a BEAST... but my partner and I got it to the table for the first time a month or two ago and absolutely adored it. Took us about four hours to play including the teach, and we were both a little intimidated by it, but for all of its giant reputation, we were pleasantly surprised at how intuitive it was to play. And it helped that we ended up engaging in some accidentally thematic moments (Tarkin on his Death Star tried to capture Leia and failed, then the Emperor blew up Kashyyk, and the Rebels moved their base in the knick of time TWICE and ended up winning the game by sending their fleet to Coruscant) which made for a really awesome overall experience.
Cosmic Encounter, Cryptids, Galaxy Trucker, and Adventures of Robin Hood are four of my most shameful SoS games. Can't believe I still haven't played them. And by the way, Jamie- that was your best Office reference ever right at the end; you made milk come out of my nose. And I'm not even drinking milk- THAT'S how funny it was.
We have 143 games with only 3 on our shelf of shame, one is Tannhauser with six unopened expansions, another is Leaving Earth with all three expansions, and the other is Conflict of Heroes-Guadalcanal still in shrink. We own and have played Conflict of Heroes-Awakening the Bear once and should play it again, good game. Keep up the great content, it’s a pleasure watching your channel.
I got excited that I had played something from your shelf of shame when you said Rhino Hero SB, but we all know from yesterday's video that you've knocked this one off now 😉
My SOS is not quite as bad but I know how hard it is to get to some of them. A few that stood out to me were Ticket to Ride Europe (my favorite TTR base box), Villagers (one of my favorite games period), and Mosaic (which I just recently got and have been really enjoying). Best of luck pushing through these!
Cosmic Encounter is one of my favorite games but it is definitely a game that is better with a larger group. The base game is good but the first expansion adds an extra rewards deck (with some very nice cards) for defenders that helps to incentivize helping to defend planets. It's the one thing that is really missing from the base game.

So you feel great about your list, we have over 400 games on our Shelf of Opportunity. Thanks largely to Jayne being too sick to play most games for 2-3 years. But of course we had kickstarters rolling in and kept buying games (partially to cope with major illness situation).

Some of mine are Flamecraft, Blood Rage, Mage Knight, Merchants of the Dark Road, Charterstone, and Root (!). I want to do a Disney marathon weekend to get a bunch played (Food Fight, Headless Horseman, Arena, Rocketeer, etc.)!

I find the game influx at this time of the year is common, since we are just past the holidays and my birthday was in January. I know that the amount of new games coming will slow down now and I will be able to catch up on some of these unplayed games. I also know that I like to buy games, so there will always be a certain amount of unplayed games all of the time. I think I am around 45 out of 170 games waiting to be played.

The only time I've had fun with Unstable Unicorns is when my group was fairly intoxicated. I fought playing it because I know it's trash, but they wanted to anyways. We got probably 20% of the way to the end of the game and they all agreed to put it away. We had more fun talking crap about it than we did playing.
Cosmic Frog is actually a LOT easier to figure out than you might think. The rulebook is sort of intimidating, but that's mostly just because it has to cover all of the different possibilities that can happen.
I've started creating a rule where when my roommate and I sit down to play games, we start with a new game before going back to our favorites. I really look forward to hearing your thoughts on the new Marvel Villainous expansion and Kinghill.
The Pathfinder game adds some deck building elements and has a little more structure than a D&D session dudette. I struggle with the role playing part of D&D and this gives you a little help.

Play the Knizia games first. He’s known for fast/simple rules and setup with deep decisions. You could play the 3 I saw and Tigris & Euphrates in a short half day - and then keep playing My City (it truly is a palette cleanser of a campaign game).
You should really get Antinomy to the table. It is probably my favorite 2 player Button Shy game at the moment. There is a solo mode if you get the Solar Flare expansion.
I didn't hear Blackout Hong Kong! Does that mean you finally played it??? I'm sitting at 144 games (including expansions) out of 381. Better get on it :)
I can make you feel better. I have close to 300 games and I definitely have more unplayed then played.🤪 Still I keep plugging away. Banana grams and Telestrations are really fun with the right people!😊
I stopped counting expansions in the number of games I own ... it just makes it more palatable... especially considering all my unplayed expansions (I don't want to)

Clone Wars is alot better than Pandemic. You can definitely see the system implemented by Pandemic, but it's quite better IMO. I wanted to like Tainted Grail but just didn't feel it. I've heard the newer version streamlines it and makes it much better.
with Anachrony you better focus on Fractures as the rest of them are various modules. Horizon Zero Dawn - just paint the minis then you skip the underwhelming experience of the actual game.
You guys have never done a culling video (I don't think?) Give yourself a pass on some of these games that you know you will never get to and cull them. Get rid of that little niggle of stress in the back of your brain every time you see it on a list. Just remove it from your collection. Probably easier said than done, I know. :)

Plays pretty quick and isn’t super hard to learn. It pains me that you haven’t played bones yet. I will help with a teach when either of you all want to learn and play it. Our current SoS is 4 games with the oldest having been there for 43 days. At its worst the SoS was 28 games, so I'm pretty pleased with this number.

How do you deal with tear down and set up of multiple campaign games? I find that’s the hardest part to continuing with my campaigns I start
We luckily have a table that allows us to leave it set up. Avoiding that part as I agree it’s the worst part of it

We never feel the “need” to play anything. We just play what we feel like! Outside of stuff for content creation of course.
