This is a really neat .22LR, especially as its from S&W.
Never seen one before, but it certainly looks like a fun gun to practice with, and as you say, its affordable firing the .22LR.

Good pistol. I bought mine in 85 at a K-Mart. Reliable accurate and actually more comfortable than my Ruger's
You can use the eraser from a mechanical pencil in lue of a spent 22 round.

I owned one of those back in the late 80s early 90s. I used it for bowling pin rimfire match shooting at a gun club mostly. Its a great accurate pistol.

I watched your video on the 586 and it really made sense to me. So I went ahead and subbed to your channel. I just wanted to tell you that this video just made me want one of these pistols. I really didn’t realize that it had that magazine release style. I watched the video on TH-cam about it as well. But none of them really point out that mag release style the way you described it makes sense to me. It is interesting and unique it reminds me a lot of my PPQ M1 with the paddle style mag release. The PPQ M1 and the paddle mag release is what sold me on it.

Excellent find and a great price. I have a field model like yours with the 6" barrel that I bought new when they came out in the 80s. I've put tens of 1000s of rounds through it with no problems at all. Mine works best with high velocity ammo.
They're amazingly accurate and to improve it further I drilled two shallow pockets in the rear sight and filled them with green florescent paint.
Over the years I've managed to pick up eight of the early 12 round mags, and extra barrel, and some other small parts that are becoming difficult to find.
    Enjoy!

I bought mine about 20 years ago. Fun and easy to shoot. I have the plastic “wood” grips.

I just saw your video. I nave a 422. I got it for $225.00 almost 40 years ago. It still is like new. It has wood grips and the adjustable rear sights.I have other more powerful weapons, but this is my favorite. It's also the first gun I ever bought. Have fun with yours.

I was always shoot ton a of 22LR with my Ruger SR22 at the range before taking out my 9mm's I rarely bring my .357 Magnum. Just costs too much to shoot.

Just picked one up on Gunbroker for $340. Saw one a few hours later go for $532. I have a 41 also with a pile of magazines and had always wanted to try a 422. Picked it up today and spent the last hour cleaning it. Hope it runs well.

Yeah, I remember these back in early 80's. Apparently developed as competition to Browning BuckMark. Both were too$$ 4 me. I went Ruger route. Hated hefty weight, but loved every thing else, except take-down latch on MkI & Mkll. Once I got the hang of it, not too bad. But that S&W excites me. I doubt I ever own one. I dun went Cow-tack.(and GPS is jammed, so I won't go back!🤣.)

I'm here from the algorithm. I've got one. Did you know that you can get a suppressor adaptor for it. Thats when the lower barrel really will make sense to you.

I didn’t realize the algorithm had blessed me but thanks for stopping by!
