"An escalator can never be broken . It can only become stairs" (Mitch Hedberg) Another great upload of the Tonight Show and the King of late night TV... Howie had hair back then....LMAO
When I was a little kid in California in the 70sI couldn't get away from watching Johnny Carson late at night and I remember Howie Mandel being young and funny and I look back today he's so fast so off the wall he was basically a genius before anybody knew it.
First time I can remember Johnny seemingly outside his element dealing with the brand of comedy Howie brought to the table. I loved Howie's early standup routines.
To those who watched this and didn’t think howie was funny in that appearance, holy moly’s . Grew up with Carson. Never laughed so quick or observed Carson being lost in the punch with any guest other than howie. Canucks are the kings of comedy no question. Just to name a few in random order Short, Akroyd, Carry,CANDY. Feel free to add
"I got up in the middle of the night to stub my toe. I slipped and went to the bathroom." These are my favorite jokes. Immediately understandable, relatable, and anyone could have thought of it. Jokes like this are perfect in my opinion.
His personality is so infectious here. There is a sense of happiness at this time in his life, perhaps youth, his inner child showing through more than other appearances I have seen. That said he always debuts in an aim to bring a smile, it seems. 🙂 Whenever he is of course not talking on about serious topics.
So happy that Howie is still going strong today! I know he has been on AGT for the last few years, I've seen clips here on TH-cam. Keep doing what you do, Howie, we love you!!! 🌼 Loving your 1st Time videos!!! 👍👍
I forgot how funny Howie was. I remember seeing this when I was a kid. I laughed then and I laughed now. What a classic. Oh the good old days. Life was simple in those days.
I actually laughed out loud. Laughed so hard I have tears in my eyes. This was an education for me. I don't need to be afraid of a fish with a stripe when I snorkel any more.
You might be about 16 7 then on November 29th this year 2022 saw his birthday would be November 29th to 2022 and this year on the 29th right after Thanksgiving happy birthday 🥳🎈🤠 🎂🍨🌠🎁☕🤡🌈🎉🍀🎤 Howie Mandel!
I only know Howie from AGT. I had no clue he would make me laugh so hard. My favorite humor is U.S. English. Meaning is in the head of the listener. Howie can twist anything. "Got up to stub his toe, fell on the toilet."
Nothing against Howie, I do think he's funny, but nothing he said here requires any kind of quick wit. He's not responding dynamically to the current situation. He's just going through a series of bits that he scripted ahead of time.
I love it. Old school weirdo fun. Johnny always found such wonderful Caracters. I could have a terrible day and forget all about it. The rest runs still do that for me.😁😁😁
I knew Howie during these days. Used him on a couple of shows. Funny as hell. He used to do the surgical glove over his head and blew it up with his nose.
I remember him and Ed Begley Jr on St. Elsewhere. I also remember his brother, a hypnotism act, came to our high school. Howie was the original sketch gag artist before Carrot top back in the day. Amazing how the 80s catered to dead laughter crowds.
I saw Howie on CTV here in Burnaby BC......he was on a show called " make me laugh ".......some buddies and I drove down to the studio to see if we could meet him......turns out it was a taped show and he wasn't there.....followed his career ever since......just a funny guy with a Great sense of timing and absurdity
Back in the day I worked at Children's Palace toy store in Toledo, Ohio. He was in town for a show(s), he came to the store, for props, whatever, a lady, bragged about for weeks, was his guide for his shopping trip!
I remember watching Howie's HBO special back in the 80s. I had recorded it on VHS and loaned it to someone, and the idiot lost the tape. It also had Sam Kinson's appearance on Rodney Dangerfield's 9th Annual Young Comedians Special. I no longer loan things out to people.
@@twistoffate4791 Yes I remember it well. With the same voice, he would also do an impression of Brooke Shields as a child and say, " The only thing that comes between me and my Calvin Kleins is caca!" LOL, had me on the floor when I first heard it!
Howie used to end every comedy performance by stretching a latex glove over his head to just under the tip of his nose, inflating it by blowing it up by breathing through his nose, and then letting it shoot into the air like a rocket. After one performance he had an excruciating headache and went to the doctor to find out he had collapse his sinus cavity. He never performed it again.
In 1984, I had dinner 🍽 with him in downtown Toronto. I forgot the name of the restaurant. It was near The Harbour front. Super nice, funny & a gentleman. I was 20 years old.

I saw him perform at Yuk Yuk's in Toronto, when he was just starting out. He was always the headliner, on last, because no other comedian could follow.
My dad guest starred on Saint elsewhere elsewhere he got to work with Howie and Howie said this joke. He played with his hair and asked OK who am I? Howie responded, it's me Howie.
Stand up dialog. I only first knew of Howie as a judge on the talent shows. (Who else?) He was really funny! must have been difficult losing that fine head of hair!
I never knew he was that funny, and in those days he even shook hands.
Howie must have become germophobic later in life.
At the time he was up there with the best. Seems he's changed a lot. 2-:
It's why he shaves his head he got lice once
Everybody shook the hands of Johnny and Ed. They were living Gods back then.
Carson has been known to be funny now and then, and he always shakes hands.
He's so relaxed. I never saw him so calm and happy before.
I hope your being sarcastic, because he's literally acting like a coke addict.
