I became a big fan when Allen went on his Men Are Pigs comedy tour and he's never disappointed. He's also a pretty darn good actor, despite his self-deprecating jokes about it. One of the best movies everyone should own a DVD copy of is Galaxyquest. His turn as a James T Kirk-like space ship captain on tv is frikkin brilliant. Of course, his Buzz Lightyear is eternal and no amount of Disney fckn with the character to please their cultural marxist employees or their Karen-wives and their country club buddies is gonna replace it. Unlike most convicts who come out of prison exactly the same as how they went in, or worse, Mr Dick learned the right lessons from his incarceration and has been tickling our funny bone pretty much ever since. Big thanks for the upload, fantastic.
100%. Also had #1 TV show, #1 film in box office and #1 best selling book all in the same week and month! Ridiculous. I wish we see more of him in film, he'd be an interesting villain.
yeah man good stuff. i think i actually saw this show back in the day. i'd been out of the marine corps for less than six months and had started watchin tv again and of course really liked tim and his schtick so i'm pretty sure i watched this one that november. thanks for posting.
Tim Allen was fantastic in this! He is one comedian/actor that has been a part of my family entertainment for years and I never thought about it till now. Started watching home improvement when I was dating my Wife, then came marriage and kids then it was Buzz lightyear, then it was the Santa Clause series, then it was last man standing, now I love the fact the guy is a Christian conservative car guy! Can’t get any better than that!😂👍
Home Improvement is one of the only shows my family watched together as a child before they divorced. And the last that I saw with my Father before he passed. I wouldn't say it died, they had said enough. And chose to end it. This is still endearing and hilarious to me, it has a special place in my heart and fall asleep to it often. So great to see him in the beginning of everything
yeah absolutely I’ve been married for 32years I was 22 and he was 26. he got cancer in 2020 I was totally lost without him. He took a major hit the treatment was horrible for him. I could not do nothing to change any thing so I felt helpless I miss Him everyday.. seeing this makes me miss him even more I come to this page all the time just to have that nostalgia
Tim Allen is the perfect example in an era when a comedian could present intelligent humor & the audience could Actually understand it!! George Carlin PERFECT. I feel sorry for comedians today. They play to an audience who has NO sense of humor with a Less than adequate IQ.
There are still some funny, intelligent comedians working. Jump on a little Bill Burr. Burr hits on a lot of topics that could easily set off some people's political correctness meters (race, domestic abuse, "gold digging whores", LBGT, abortion, etc.), but he's self-deprecating and so damn funny he gets away with it -- AND he's able to slip in some razor-edged observations about sensitive subjects while he's at it.
OMGosh!! His line about shop teachers missing fingers was SOOO true. My grade 8 woodworking teacher was missing half of two fingers and he told us he lost them using a bandsaw when he was young. Don't know if was true but I was terrified using ANY power saw after that!
I was already following Tim Allen a few years before he finally got his sit-com, and I'm surprised (and Johnny looked like he was surprised about it too) that this was Tim's first time on the Tonight Show.
4:44 this is how you knew if Johnny Carson liked you or not: If he just clapped, he didn’t think you were funny. If he thought you were funny, he’d give the ok gesture.👌 And if he thought you were REALLY hilarious, he’d wave you over for an interview.
Love ❤ Timster ...did you know Tim owns Allen's apple juice ...my high school 🏫 friend, Tim Allen, loved Allen's apple juice #truestory ...my friend Tim, used to buy the big cans of the stuff 🍎
Just saw a documentary. Tim says he bombed here. Forgot his glasses and missed his mark on the stage. And later Carson said to him, "You gotta be funnier. Then THAT."
Though at one time I thought Jay Leno was the greatest. When he took over the Tonight Show he lost much as he tried to be all things to all people. At least that's how I saw it. So after a few months I rarely watched Jay. I think Tim Allen would have made a very good host.

Making up for lost time.
Great interview and love both Carson and Tim Allan.

We met him at SEMA 2018 in Vegas. He saw my husband holding a photo of our pink Fairlane and commented, "Cool car!"
Yeah but how do we know Tim didn’t write all this with a mcgiver approved tooth pic
One of my favorite quotes from Tim Allen's comedy routine: "I've got tools that fix tools" !!!
Tim's a great actor, loved the show. Richard Karn "Al" and I grew up in the same area.

It looked like Tim was sure Johnny wanted him to sit down many comedians didn't get that, you had to make Johnny laugh first.
