Thank you for putting this video up! I've been wanting to watch a X-2 challenge but didn't want to sit through a whole let's play, so this is perfect!! I'm actually tempted to give this a try myself...
You totally should, its real fun trying do complete the game in a way it was absolutely not intended to :D I have also been thinking about a low level challenge that I might start up at some point too.
Same for me. FFX was the first game that I was sinking in Hundreds of Hours. And then FFX-2 came around. Needles to say, I cried like a little kid at the end.
I'm in the crowd that loves the game. It seems cheesy to some people, but I appreciate the campy moments, and the fan service (so much fan service in the Metal Gear saga too, not a bad thing if you ask me.) I think everyone can agree that FFX2 is unique, the combat is fun, and for those that love completion and 'questing' and don't mind the sometimes punishing difficulty of the enemies if you're new to the game (it was so much more challenging than FFX especially late game with the Via Purifico and Angra Mainyu, I never got.. What's the word? Good, at it.) So, in short, I find 10-2 to be stylish, sexy, silly and does not take itself too seriously except when it wants to. The all female party is fun and I definitely don't consider this to be just a girls game. It's more... Anime-esque, actually. If I think about it. The music was great too. I'm about to embark on another playthrough after several years of not really having played the game more than a chapter or so. It's been almost twenty years since I finished X2. I play through X at least once a year or two, just to recapture the magic I first felt with it. This isn't too much different.
people dislike the game because it was such a shock going from '' i love you tidus'' to OOH LETS GO ON A GIRLTRIP HAVING FUN FUN FUN, if they made it feel natural then i doubt it would've gotten so much hate, still like the game tho.
I love this game as well. I thinks it's very charming and unique. I love to visit all the places from FFX 10 and see it from a different perspective. I love talking to the people and listening to the Music. It's a wonderful game. Sure, sometimes it's annoying or a bit too easy, but a Game does not have to be perfect - the flaws wich this game has makes it so special to me and i love it for what it is.
I also try to replay this game and drop it every few years! My dumb ass always tries to do a 100% run and gets fed up with the shooting mini game in besaid
@@iamthehobo there's a spot for the minigame where you can easily farm points under a waterfall, I got to 3900 pts that way ! look up on TH-cam, or if anyone else struggles with it!
Would have been kind of interesting if because the Monster Arena is emptied by X-2, that you find out some of the Creations became a nuisance in the world and Yuna had to deal with the repercussions. X-2 is about the repercussions and growth of the world with no Sin anymore and the truth of the Yevon Church, and how messy it’s become.
Yuna with the gun dressphere is the coolest thing ever. I wish there were more guns in jrpgs. And yes I HAVE heard of resonance of fate and i intend to play it
I also loved this game and it was my first FF game. Also a small funny thing to note, if Vegnagun DOES end up firing it’s cannon, the game auto saves… And when you load that save, you watch spira go KABOOOM! Again.
It dawned on me that my love for “fashion souls” started with this game. I mastered all the cute dresspheres before doing the others, some of which would’ve been really helpful in hindsight (I was like 10).
I'm on the side of liking ffX-2. I kept seeing what happened to all the characters I met in X, plus the gameplay (excluding the cringey transformation sequences) was super cool in my opinion.
I do not believe you. I am french and i speak french. If i become a maid will a be able to one shot god himself if my master gives me a little bit of money? 😂 There is no way a french maid dress had the possibility to exist. Edit i looked it up and a french maid dress isn’t a thing even outside of final fantasy. It’s just a regular maid dress.
Can't say I remember much about the plot, but I do love me some FFX-2. Stealing everything to get 99 of every item and 6 of every ring, going to the 100 level dungeon, smacking some Tonberries around and crushing those bosses was very relaxing, total opposite of this challenge. I would probably develop an ulcer if I tried this :P
I agree it is way to cheesy. At least when you start the game. But once you reach chapter 2 it changes to typical Final Fantasy mood. And it's good at it. Also it gets harder the further you go. It's not a FFX by all means, but it definitely reaches other good FF titles.
36:36 soo O'aka takes 100k Gil from you to pay it back, then he arrives there and they're dead so he can't pay it back .... And then he just keeps the 100k Gil Oo?!
I played my first playthough with a monster party, but it felt like a sugar rush because they were too strong from their experience and winnings, from the The Goodybag(Fiend) Arena.
The damn blitzball in this :( They could've almost copy and paste'd in FFX's and changed the assets. Oh and the pain getting 100% anyway. I was checking with multiple guides and had the correct % throughout but still had to do a short NG+ to get it. There might not have been a 100% speedrun guide at the time which would've been reliable.
Final Fantasy X-2 was a decent game. Yeah, the story is kinda...weird. But everything else is pretty good! The music, the job system, the battle system. I liked the Via Infinito alot, that was a deep dungeon before deep dungeon was invented!
I actually enjoyed X2.... i was young i guess so i didnt think too too much about "fan service" and the story i was like "meh, whatever" The gameplay was solid at the time, class system type thing. Then again im juat a fan of FF overall in general, all of them (except 11/14 which i didnt play)
Not sure how you made it through that shinra palace place. All the 1 shoting that happens to me lol. With all 3 of them. Like on floor 60 I think is far as I got. That boss is insane.
To think they are working on X-3 this late in years after this game came out. They better make a remake for FF12 part 2 from Nintendo DS then. I want that to be on PS5 with Unreal Engine 5 graphics.
I think as a game FF10-2 is fine. I like the battle system, never minded the visual theming and I love Yuna's character arc, her trying to find a place in a world and a life she thought she would never get to have. But this is also why I absolutely despise the game's ending. The "perfect" ending effectively un-solves the problem from the first game and bringing back her lover basically deletes her realization of "this is _my_ life now", and it irreperably ruined this game for me.
That’s funny cause the one thing I don’t like about this game is the gameplay I always die so easily because I’m trying to plan out my attacks as the enemy’s can just keep hitting me
Do you have a 100% guide for FFX2? I tried a couple of years ago with a guide and I think I got 99.8% despite doing everything in the guide. I just gave up because I wasn't about to go through the entire god damn thing with a guide that might have missed something.
@@RagnarAlvarrGaming Of course it is. Maybe next time I'll actually use my eyes instead of hoping to get a response on a year old video 😆 Thanks man, might have to give this another shot once work calms down!
@GoldenSpoon I'm on the PS2. I think it was somewhere near the end that I was off because I remember having a guide that told me what i should be at and I checked it the whole way.
Not a big fan of turbo in general and I consider supercharge "cheating". This is more for people who played the game before and just quickly rush through to story, like to get 100% on a NG+ playthrough for example. Kinda defeats the purpose of this challenge using stuff like that.
I got turned off when this came out near the start. Tried it again a few years ago and (once you get past the first chapter or so) it’s a really great game. You do need to persevere a bit and look past the cheesiness.
How come there aren't any other crazy ff x2 challenge runs, like what about since festivalist is like the worst class, so why not can u beat ff x2 with only festivalist ? Would that be challenging or too easy
Hi, thank you for the video, really engaging and entertaining, love to see ffx-2 content in general! I have a question regarding the PC port on Steam. I simply can't make myself play it because at the end of every battle since arriving in the ruins in chapter 1 after a battle ends it takes the game around 20-30 seconds to show the button that lets you leave the score screen. I was not able to find a working solution online for this problem. The mod everyone is talking about does nothing for me. Do you or anyone else here have a better solution if you encountered the problem? Would love to play through this game again on PC but this would ruin my experience dramatically. Thank you!
I honestly never heard of that before, other than some random crashes every now and then the game has always been running pretty smooth on my end. Can't really help, sorry.
Because Final Fantasy 7 has so much love to that people are blind to the faults with it and the subsequent filling games of crisis core and dirge of Cerberus. It is the same with Elden Ring, people call it a masterpiece and compare it to every other thing FromSoft has done even though it is it’s IP and therefore needs to be looked at critically on its own and nothing else. The moment people become blind to criticism is the moment they refuse to see just way something works or does not work is the moment you just sign a death wish not just for yourself but others as well.
This game was ridiculous and ridiculous by indulging on getting 100% on the story line. So many soft resets, having to start the game over NEW, raging omg. Honestly I didnt enjoy the game as much as I wanted to. Being way too involved in getting everything perfect.
Why didn’t you just use alchemist to mix the dark matter you got from paragon with a potion? you then get miracle drink which gives you invincibility to everything. You diddn’t have to do all that jumping around calculating with psychic and Lady Luck! Beating trema would have been a walk in the park after taking miracle drink, it’s cheesy but you did bribe paragon which was just as cheesy way out.
that was a fun challenge. have a question can you beat Final Fantasy X-2 no Kos. no one in your party cannot die. also, you cannot change dress sphere.
Disagree on the battle system. There are a few big issues with it: 1. Stats are all-important. Some fights you just can't win (without cheesing them) if your stats aren't high enough. 2. Some jobs, especially the ones you get later on, are far overpowered. 3. Related to point #2, there are some strategies that will work against nearly every boss and fight in the game. For example, the typical two dark knight + alchemist combo spams darknessx2 + mega potion to win every main fight in the game, struggling only on optional fights. 4. Also related to point #2, some jobs are so much weaker than the good ones that they basically aren't worth using. 5. Grinding for potentially hours just to effectively use the new job you just got, on every character, regardless of your level, isn't fun. 6. If it wasn't already broken, creature creator (international + and onward) destroyed the game's balance completely. From early on, you could use creature creator to win every fight easily and create a totally overpowered (and self-piloting) team. This cheapens strategy when most difficult fights are won not via strategy, but by overpowering the opposing side. if you don't overpower them, they often overpower you with attacks that are too strong and come too fast to defend against. All this means that it's very easy to be too strong or too weak for where you are in the game, and if the latter then the sheer number of mostly useless jobs available may mean it could take hours of grinding up the good ones to correct your error. And if that error doesn't rear its head until the final chapter of the game then it may be difficult to even find a good area to grind. The system's issues were particularly weird coming after FF10. For how simple that game's battle system was for the most part, with wild encounters basically following a rock paper scissors design, the boss fights and optional fights were often surprisingly deep and required strategy. The game could be cheesed via particular mix combinations or by following a particular sphere route on Yuna to make her aeons overpowered, but very few players found those strategies organically. This is as opposed to FFX-2 where the broken cheese was not only obvious but seemingly encouraged, given that most of the non-OP jobs had obvious issues with their design or general usability. I played FFX-2 100% in one playthrough just recently, and confirmed everything I remembered about it. The only fight I had fun with was one of the optionals where i didn't prepare correctly but still one because I happened to have a berserker in my team who, while berserk, evade and countered the boss to dea while the rest of my team was dead. And that's not even getting into the game's other issues, like the fact that getting 100%, something the game actively tracks and shoves in your face, requires you to: 1. Pick the correct side 2. Never skip a single cutscene 3. Listen through an excessive lore dump without pressing the skip button that keeps popping up on your screen 4. Know to press X for no reason during a specific part of a specific cutscene, after you've been conditioned NOT to press buttons or accidentally skip cutscenes, and then do it again several times. And the game has many more examples of bullshit. It's basically a game that's all about side quests and barely even cares about its own main storyline, which would be fine if it was an MMO, but is a damned shame to see in a Final Fantasy game.
I haven't seen the whole video at the time of commenting but how do you get 100% without a second playthrough? From what I know and remember it takes 2 playthroughs to get 100% since there's certain paths that can only be taken by making that choice and locking off the other path.
Obviously no. You have to be able to progress far enough to get Yuna, and far enough that she is able to survive LeBlanc at the very start. Absolutely no captured creatures blocks the entire Creature Capture system, because to use it for tournaments or fights requires capturing Brother. If you choose to, and you open up capturing Brother, you are able to train in the Airship before Gagazet with the Arena being open immediately when you first get to the Airship. This makes it considerably easier to steal, with a few levels under your belt.
When monsters do more than any of your team can do I would say that the the monster arena is a good idea but a monster team was idiotic. Story is garbage tho.
Wait, people LIKE the battle system in this game? It seems like a good idea at its core but super poorly implemented, terrible difficulty curve, and the jobs are incredibly poorly balanced, at least to me...man, half a minute in and blowing my mind (if you're right).
This game is a lot of fun. Its biggest issue is that you could beat it by throwing your controller on the ground face down repeatedly. It is by far one of the easiest games I've ever played. EVER! Mario Bros. 1-1 is harder than the final boss of X-2. 100% serious.
Rename this video from “Can you get 100% in Final Fantasy X-2 using only Yuna?” to “Can you get 100% (Story) in Final Fantasy X-2 using only Yuna?”, to ease speedrun category confusion; because I thought this was a completionist 100% run, meaning full bestiary and Summons They are not going for 100% in Final Fantasy X-2, they are going for 100% of a subsection of the game. This violates the Fake engagement policy with the following example: A video that tries to force or trick viewers into watching another video through deceptive means. TH-cam doesn’t allow anything that artificially increases the number of views, likes, comments, or other metrics, either by using automatic systems or serving up videos to unsuspecting viewers.
But isn't it technically correct since the story alone if you choose the right factions & paths (and also avoid a critical bug) already nets 100% completion, while the actual completionist run is around 120~130%
@@BlueNEXUSGaming eh, my point still stands. 100% completion from story mode alone means the video should've titled something along the line of "150% completionist run using only Yuna" if it focused on a full completionist run. Also, you already know the max cap percentage, so why still question it?
@@BlueNEXUSGaming it *isn't* a false advertisement if you ALREADY know how completionist percentage works in X-2. Anyone watching is likely already know how it works. If you already know the max cap is 150%, then again why are you still complaining?? Make it make sense.
Wait... what?? I was under the impression and opinion that the battle system was the single worst part of the game and the reason myself and several others I know couldn't stand playing it.
Even only using Yuna as soon as you get her is impossible. You're stuck in the Dancer sphere, which doesn't give you damaging attacks for a long while, so she would die to LeBlanc.
@@RoderickEtheria Unless you count the ability that makes the whole party go into Berserk, then you'd be correct. However with that skill (which still requires using someone other than Yuna) it does become possible
@PixelHeroViish and actually it is impossible to unlock any skill that will beat LeBlanc with Dancer first fight, due to only getting 99 AP per battle. The only way it might be possible is if Yuna can still use Budget Grenades and you can get enough of those. Of course, this requires Rikku being heavily used.
@@RoderickEtheria I've done so many NG+ runs that I actually don't remember if the party-wide Haste + Berserk skill has to be unlocked first, if that's true then yeah only the grenades would work, which would break the rules too I always think it's silly to claim a challenge is impossible when the game tutorializes things that specific way, as if the player ever had any control over that specifically

The moment people become blind to criticism is the moment they refuse to see just way something works or does not work is the moment you just sign a death wish not just for yourself but others as well.
i'm not fine with either
I don't think I ever unlocked the psychic. Huh
This was amazing
This game was ridiculous and ridiculous by indulging on getting 100% on the story line. So many soft resets, having to start the game over NEW, raging omg. Honestly I didnt enjoy the game as much as I wanted to. Being way too involved in getting everything perfect.
Immediately fails run by stealing with Rikku instead of just killing her. Hahaha kidding 😅
Next is Rikku and Paine solo 100%
i thought that game was odd. not bad, but i wouldn't go out of my way and say it was a great game
Rikku and Payne at level 3 🤣🤣🤣
Why didn’t you just use alchemist to mix the dark matter you got from paragon with a potion? you then get miracle drink which gives you invincibility to everything. You diddn’t have to do all that jumping around calculating with psychic and Lady Luck! Beating trema would have been a walk in the park after taking miracle drink, it’s cheesy but you did bribe paragon which was just as cheesy way out.
Im in the middle. I didn't hate it or love it. It was fine tho.
that was a fun challenge. have a question can you beat Final Fantasy X-2 no Kos. no one in your party cannot die. also, you cannot change dress sphere.
Disagree on the battle system. There are a few big issues with it:
And that's not even getting into the game's other issues, like the fact that getting 100%, something the game actively tracks and shoves in your face, requires you to:
1. Pick the correct side
2. Never skip a single cutscene
3. Listen through an excessive lore dump without pressing the skip button that keeps popping up on your screen
4. Know to press X for no reason during a specific part of a specific cutscene, after you've been conditioned NOT to press buttons or accidentally skip cutscenes, and then do it again several times.
And the game has many more examples of bullshit. It's basically a game that's all about side quests and barely even cares about its own main storyline, which would be fine if it was an MMO, but is a damned shame to see in a Final Fantasy game.
need a ffx next!!!
I just can't get over how weird and awful Lucil's outfit looks
I haven't seen the whole video at the time of commenting but how do you get 100% without a second playthrough? From what I know and remember it takes 2 playthroughs to get 100% since there's certain paths that can only be taken by making that choice and locking off the other path.
NICE!!!!!
I could complete to 100% using yuna
"The battle system is one of the best in the franchise"
Ironically i dropped X-2 nearly straight away because of the battle system
seriously, i hate the battles sytemin X2 its one of the worst
Breaks don't stack. Just fyi.
incorrect, you're thinking of FFX. Breaks stack in FFX-2
The combat system is what actually turned me off from the game
Obviously no. You have to be able to progress far enough to get Yuna, and far enough that she is able to survive LeBlanc at the very start. Absolutely no captured creatures blocks the entire Creature Capture system, because to use it for tournaments or fights requires capturing Brother. If you choose to, and you open up capturing Brother, you are able to train in the Airship before Gagazet with the Arena being open immediately when you first get to the Airship. This makes it considerably easier to steal, with a few levels under your belt.
woot woot!
When monsters do more than any of your team can do I would say that the the monster arena is a good idea but a monster team was idiotic. Story is garbage tho.
My dude, i can barely hear you.
Rename this video from “Can you get 100% in Final Fantasy X-2 using only Yuna?” to “Can you get 100% (Story) in Final Fantasy X-2 using only Yuna?”, to ease speedrun category confusion; because I thought this was a completionist 100% run, meaning full bestiary and Summons
They are not going for 100% in Final Fantasy X-2, they are going for 100% of a subsection of the game.
@@noyoucantnoicantnowecantsostop Not even close. I easily had over 150% before the final fight.
@@BlueNEXUSGaming eh, my point still stands. 100% completion from story mode alone means the video should've titled something along the line of "150% completionist run using only Yuna" if it focused on a full completionist run.
Also, you already know the max cap percentage, so why still question it?
@@noyoucantnoicantnowecantsostop it's called “false advertisement”.
You used Rikku to steal when you had Yuna and even attacked as Paine.
You actually violated the rules of this challenge as soon as you got Yuna back.
Impossible since yuna doesn't start in party, only rikku and Paine,
Not the brightest, are you?
@@RoderickEtheria I've done so many NG+ runs that I actually don't remember if the party-wide Haste + Berserk skill has to be unlocked first, if that's true then yeah only the grenades would work, which would break the rules too
I always think it's silly to claim a challenge is impossible when the game tutorializes things that specific way, as if the player ever had any control over that specifically
I love FFX felt let down with X-2 (I tried so damn hard to like it) just couldn't get over the damage values.
Add in the cat nip item...
The battle system was the WORST part of X2 lol
Getting really sick of every single run you do just coming down to "Cat Nip=Automatic Win".
