Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this radio -does anything compare to the FT3 in capabilities BUT also offer GPS tracking "bread crumbs" like Garmin hike watches?
You da man, Billy. Straightforward explanations with no hesitation. That gives viewers a level of confidence that you know what you’re talking about. I work for a Ham Radio store and I recommend your TH-cam videos wholeheartedly. Thanks for a smooth delivery about topics all Hams are interested in.
You the man Billy! Thanks for sharing that. This morning I recorded the Rx ISS SSTV signal audio directly to my FT3D mini SD card and then played it back to the Robot36 app you used in the last SSTV video. It was a low pass this AM. I also recorded the SSTV signal audio to my Samsung voice app by holding the FT3D close to my phone mic (lots of birds chirping loud were captured too). Obviously the sound directly to the SD card produced a much clearer image on the Robot36 app. Next time you get an ISS SSTV pass, try it out and share with us! 73 - W3RRM
Glad to hear you got a nice image! I recorded mine though the FT3D as well, but haven't had a chance to check out how it decodes yet. Had a repeater on the other channel (whoops) so I hope that didn't screw with it to much.
Your video helped me out, I needed insight into the symbols on the GPS screen specifically the orange person smybol tapping it allowed me to overwrite my already store memories, thank you 👍📶
That's pretty neat. Had my Ft3 and Ft2 for quite some time now. I'm going to set my home as a location and when I go hiking to do some SOTA, I'll be able to check the distance and bearing of that home location. Thanks Billy 👍
You got me interested in playing around with this on the 2, so I took on a walk with the family and showed them how it worked and what this function is for. Neat stuff. Now I need to find where in the menu to change it from North up to directional. Thank! Always wanted to try that. Works great
Great video and totally transferrable to my FT5D. Watched two other youtubers explain this feature but neither one demo'd or explained the display's location proximity aspects. I would have expected the dot to get closer to the arrow. So glad you covered that. Definitely a better video than the others. Thanks. Saved. Please do more vids on this handheld. Subbing and searching your play list for more.
I think it’s cool that the radio has gps functionality but it sure is rudimentary. That’s not a complaint. It reminds me of when GPS units first hit the market.
Great job. Regarding the Bluetooth, I hear that it will not pair with a device like just a speaker or even in a car that's two way, but It needs to be a two way headset. Ever try the blue tooth? I was bummed because I wanted to use it in the car.
@@ModernHam oh, neat. Sounds great. I never upgraded from the 2 to the 3 partially because of that.... And the bigger screen on the 2 as well. But, the newer tech, color screen and better GPS are good reasons for a future upgrade.
It only supports the older mono headset profile. I’ve tried a few Bluetooth devices *Chevy truck-will not pair. *MPOW mx1 ( 2020) stereo ear buds-will not pair. *Jabra (old mono earpiece)-pairs but audio is very low level and has loud crackle/popping. Finally…. *Anker SoundbudsSlim(2017)-works for receive at least!
Let me know if there's something you would like to see covered with this radio. Or you have any questions!

Great video. And a very useful feature on the radio 👍
Thanks Jason! Glad you liked the video.

Glad it was helpful. I'm not sure where you can do that just yet.
Maybe... Display - Compass - Heading up instead of North Up ?
Great video - I didn't even know my Yaesu FT3D had this feature.

Thanks for the video. I knew my radio did this but I didn't realize how easy it is. Works the same on my FT5D
I didn't even know it could do this.
Now I want one even more!
I dig the way you explain this, very cool, thanks.
Very good to know that I'm planning on buying one here soon.
Outstanding... found exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
Outstanding! Thanks for this, i have been trying to figure this out for hours
That was helpful. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Billy. Still getting familiar with this radio so I don't even know what I don't know...yet....
I keep finding things as soon as I thought I had it all down. There's a lot to unpack. Glad you liked it!
Good info
Hi thanks for the video. Is there a way to send the stored location via aprs?
What is that antenna you have on your HT in this video?
The first half is the super elastic signal stick, the second half is the standard rubber duck that came with the radio.
Hey Billy, what antenna are you using on that radio?
In the video, the standard ducky that came with it. But I normally have the super elastic signal stick when i'm just at home.

Hi guys, is there anyway to clear saved locations? Thanks!
Is there a way to export the memory locations? I'm thinking this would be good for DF'ing out a noise source or QRM.
Great job.

I've tried it once or twice. Sounds like a another good video for this radio. Next Week maybe? I'll try a few headsets with it.

thanks
