I was cracking up as you were trying to pair your car and I’ve made the same comment before, “who is the idiot that created UConnect?” For certain, he wasn’t a Ham. I’m not sure if s/he was even human!!! Thanks for another great video. Keep them coming!

When you tried VOX with the FitBit, your squelch was turned down and may have prevented it from transmitting.

The FT3DR WILL however work with connecting to an Android smartphone (At least it did with my AT&T Maestro Plus) as I wanted to set it up whereas the two could be used for some SSTV operation using the SSTV repeater on 145.800 that's aboard the ISS so you might try connecting to your car & your radio via your phone instead & see how THAT works

I’ve paired mine with generic headsets. Works no problems.

Everything I have tried works. LG Tone Pro 835 (old), LG Tone Plus XL7 (new, BT version 5.0), and generic knock-offs.

I think FT3D only supports the older mono Bluetooth HSP Headset Profile, the mono earpieces will have better odds of success... but who knows! Here is what I have tried:
    *Chevy truck (2017)-will not pair.
*MPOW mx1 (2020) stereo ear buds-will not pair.
*Jabra (old mono earpiece)-pairs but not useable, audio is very low level and has loud crackle/popping.
    Finally….
*Anker SoundbudsSlim(2017, this specific version not available on Amazon now)-works for receive at least!

Interesting. As I commented above, I am looking for a ham radio that does bluetooth AND works with my bluetooth enabled hearing aids. I absolutely don't care if I have to pick up the radio and hit the PTT to talk, I just want clear audio pumped straight into my ears! I think I'm going to have to go to the local ham store and see if they will let me try with their floor model.

It would be nice if you can figure out on all the headsets tried or known on the other method of transmitting via PTT. It's easy to pair and just talk via VOX, but in most situations PTT is more ideal by either pressing a Call/Hangup button or some button on each headset. If you can figure that out, a follow-up video on Bluetooth headsets would be very very helpful.

Very good video, thanks. My Aftershokz ASC100's pair up fine. TX audio is a bit light so need to speak loud to pass enough audio. 73 Jeff N8RWS

you have to close squelch before transmitting. Maybe that's why third headset VOX transmitting didn't work.

I went through the same experiment. Even when you find a headset that works, the bluetooth module inside the radio is garbage. If the headset is more than three feet from the radio, the received audio is garbled and there is a constant digital warble picked up in the ear piece. Not sure if I have a defective bluetooth module or if this is the status quo. Just thought I would give my findings. I no longer use the bluetooth functionality.

Do you think this will work with SENA bluetooth motorcycle headset?

  • @rjstewart
    @rjstewart 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I've been looking at the FT5 with Bt because I wear hearing aids that have Bt functionality. No one can tell me if they will work or not and the store just repeats the mantra "we sell a bt headset for them". Obviously it's of zero use to me to use a proprietary headset. I think my only recourse is to go into the store and see if they will let me try pairing the radio with my hearing aids.

Very nice radio!! It would deffinately be an upgrade from my TYT UV 8000. I would be curious if it would work with my bluetooth hearing aides??

Hi. I would like to know if I am capturing a frequency of a person speaking, if the FT3D GPS can give me the location of this person?

I am looking for a radio that has reliable and functional hands free Bluetooth capability for paragliding. Anyone have a radio who could comment on how well the Bluetooth works on the FT5DR? I would like to know how functional it is with VOX. Is there an alternate radio to the FT5DR from another manufacturer with this feature?

Hi! I just got approved on echolink, and would actually love to make a contact on one of the US repeaters. I figured who better to contact than you haha. Just wondering if it would be possible? If not that's fine haha, just putting it out there

I have tried Aftershokz "Open Comm" And they connect and work Ok for both TX and RX. My only issues are it has a sharp crackling sound at times on audio and the range is quit short. The TX seems to work well.

Hi. The Jabra 65 and Bose Soundwear works really well with the FT3D. Although I do get a low hum in the background of both. But easily ignored.
