Just because YOU feel weird wearing fitted clothes, it doesn't means it's not the way it should be worn. Two sizes bigger and his clothing would look loose and baggy, which is tacky. His suit was definitely costume made for him, it's not constricting on him and it covers what it should cover; in other words, it fits him flawlessly.
He was spot on about the most revolutionary designers being those who know how to make a suit. Look at Giorgio Armani. Look at Thom Browne. They absolutely changed their landscape around them, and all because of a suit. A pity that he, as a (relatively) stylish person, should know that the should be wearing higher-rise pants with that jacket. That little triangle looks terrible.
Just like so many other people, he worries too much about people's perception of certain items. I don't like tiebars or hats because of the people wearing them. Haha.

@Tom Silverheart The only true faux pas is wearing brown leather shoes with black leather belt. Black tie is absolutely fine (it especially looks great with a grey jacket), it is a black suit that could be considered either a mistake or a bold fashion statement (Tom Ford wears black suits perfectly). And the undershirt is also fine as long as it isn't visible under the dress shirt
What's wrong with tie clips? They look good and they're very practical. Especially if you have a job which requires a suit though is not located in an office.

I don't think that the final rear view of him walking (from 2:37 onwards) looks very stylish at all. The clothes don't seem to fit properly or look right. You have to be very careful how to wear a double vent jacket.

I'm actually really sad about some of the views on here. I love Nick as a person and admire him hugely as a style icon. I couldn't agree less that this is "vapid nonsense". I think he makes good points in what is at the end of the day, a three minute video intended to be a short pleasurable experience. His rules are his personal rules, nothing wrong with that! I don't wear tan shoes or large checks - that might sound weird but personal rules are personal rules! Style is up to the individual.
