I have been trying to understand this concept forever and after a zillion explanations from everyone and their brother...YOU Sir just nailed it and i fully understand it for the first time ever. Thank you!
I remember watching Stacy David 10 years ago back in highschool, powerblock tv was the coolest part of the weekend besides wrenching on my daily driver 79 Pontiac firebird. Back than my buddies had lifted trucks and irocs. I was the only guy with old louvers and ttops and a case of miller lite in the trunk we used to pound a few down at lunch time take a bath in axe cologne and head to class when we felt like it. Good days
Great info thanks so much. It’s no wonder I’ve been having problems. I was told if I’m only using the second battery for accessories it can be a smaller cranking battery and put a solenoid between the 2. I had to different batteries and both kept draining. Time to hit up Interstate Batteries for a couple of new ones.
Simple, easy and right to the point. Some people had videos that were almost 8 to 10 minutes on the same thing he talked about in less than two minutes.
I definitely need to run two batteries. I’m running dual 16” electric fans, full led front light, led rear tail lights, added cab lights, sound system, and eventually a winch and off-road lights in the future. My single battery while running definitely pulls down below 14 and dims the lights and if you roll up the windows while sitting it takes forever.
I went live with my grandparents in 93 i was 13 and the next Saturday i saw Stacey Davis for the 1st time and told my grandma this guy special and I want to be just like him and we watched you everyweek before we did anything anything my grandma bought me my 1st vehicle when the tj 1st came out in 97 she help me change out fuel pumps a lot gears transfercase lift kits and when i got married to my daycare sweetheart she is a jeep lover too the tj will always have a special spot in our lives the jt diesel is winning ours harts
watching videos I saw the bronco and I recognized it from somewhere I saw it and I remembered that as a child I watched these videos even without understanding English how I loved them
stacy, i was thinking about this very thig the other day. i knew there was a way to do it but couldnt remember which was was right. thanks a lot amigo.
My humvee didn't start because I had the battery hooked wrong, I was getting only 12v for a 24v system. Now it is 24v and It almost started, I thought the used power control box was bad that I got for about $50. Thanks for the info.
most semis run 1 120-150 amp alternator, and have on average 6 batteries, all being 100+ AH. they have more then one battery so that they can hold enough charge to crank the engine when its cold. im a truck and transport, i frequently add more batteries to trucks that come from a warm climate that just can get started in the cold mornings. no other mods needed, the charge fine, and start easier.
Technically there will always be leakage current, Internal batt resistance are never the same. So hes right It is important to find the closest matching Batts
I agree...Thumbs down???!!!...I guess you cant please stupid people......A great .."to the point"...video....Haters stay off TH-cam...or at least put your WLB diapers on when you watch videos that are trying to inform people....
is it possible two I stall two bass caps ? I haven't two amps on a separate battery in the trunk, and was thinking of adding a bass cap, but I may have another coming my way so before I begin the install I was curious would I be able to use both? tha ks for feed back.
I love your show but I have a question about this keep it on 12 v out put what can I use for my cable can I use amp wire since it will have a fused link? Thanks for the info
Great information. I need your help I have a 2014 Dodge Ram sport 1500 4x4 5.7 Hemi and I want a dual battery system. What do I do. Is there a kit out there? Thanks
Thanks for Video! Very few how to streams are recorded steady, loud Audio, clear Video, and straight to the point. Your Video verified that adding a 2nd batteries to a vehicle with no other alterations or accommodations will work and charge if wired in parallel correctly, resulting in the same 12V but with approx 2x the capacity. Do you happen to know if it hurts the vehicle's "charging system" ( for lack of knowing the actual parts involved) or electrical system. Its only changing the Capacity so if done correctly NO correct? A friend of mine and I want to do this on 2 vehicles one being a 74 Ford Bronco and the other a 2014 Toyota Tundra. The bronco doesn't concern me the tundra does a little considering there is approximately 52,000 more wires and sensors in a 2014 truck vs a 1974 truck.
If connected how he fisrt demonstrated you should have no problem Negative to negative and positive to positive Make sure both batterys are same in power wise same cranking amps
Centerpoint Communications As long as the battery's aren't discharged to begin with, having 2 in parallel won't stress the alternator excessively. However charging two batteries that are low on voltage (less then 11 volts) back to 12.6 volts will put twice the demand (draw) on the alternator. If the battery's are in good shape it will be insignificant to the alternator and wont necessarily reduce its life. If your really worried buy a higher output alternator 150+Amp but for most situations your golden with 130 Amps and two batteries. Stock wiring outside of the batterys connections, isn't a problem as long as you have good grounds.
Confused? I have a '97 GMC Sierra P/U that is used to snow plow during the winter. When I raised the plow, the lights dim. Should I be concerned with this? Was looking into putting in a dual battery but not sure in it should be 12V or 24V. Additionally, do you think in need to replace existing alternator for a bigger one? Any answers would be beneficial. Thank you!
The question: I just added a new 2ndary battery in my 01 Silverado 8100. This is how I connected them, I connected the positive wire from the 2nd battery running through a fuze and a solenoid to the positive end of the primary battery. the negative wire from the 2nd battery into frame. Is this correct?
I just want to add a second 12 volt battery for extra power for my RV? It has a 12 volt already, can I add the second battery so when boondocking I can go longer with out using my generator, or should I buy an inverter and charge and run stuff of the inverter? If I do it that way, not using solar, but a extra generator how would I connect the whole extra system..thank you!
Hello and have a question maybe you can help me with. If I were to install a battery disconnect on that set up on my travel trailer and one negative cable is going to an inverter inside the coach and another negative cable is going to a grounding block mounted on the frame and the last negative cable is going to the second battery...which of those goes to the disconnect switch?
Can you connect a 12 volt battery to several UPS's? Each UPS will want to charge up the battery(s) but will they conflict with each other trying to charge up the battery?
do it matter if you hook up two totally different batteries like if the cca and battery size is different.I'm asking because i have a mini fridge powered by a 860 cold cranking amp battery. So I'm thinking if two batteries is hooked up at the same time maybe the mini fridge will stay on longer ? Running a mini fridge should i hook the batteries in series or parallel for it to stay on longer ?And i do have a 1,000 inverter
Well first off im going to be getting a higher amp alternator. But reason being i already have a system in my truck as well as 2 KC daylighters and when all my lights are on encluding my KC's and my heater on full blast my alternator struggles some. I already have 1 yellow top optima battery. If the alternator that i will end up getting fixes the problem than im not going to do this but when i add more lights and a winch i might end up doing this for the added protection
If you had a battery in the back (trunk) an one up front im assuming you dont need to run another negative all the way back, you could just frame ground both.
I want to mount 6 led lights on my 2008 tacoma. Total watts of the lights add up to 396 I'm using two wiring kits each with 40amp relays. Do you think it will be ok to run on stock battery and alternator with no problem ?
Hey,I have some questions regarding a dual battery set up ... I was wanting to hook 2 batteries in my kia,one to another to be charged by Kia...but one is just a small Bit larger...if i hook up the big one first and then the second to it wll it work like im hoping? I have 2 batteries both same brand just a few numbers off on each cca and crank amps
If you have a second battery in the trunk, will it matter if you don't connect the negative terminals? For example, if you just run positive the the second battery and ground it in the trunk. Is that the same situation as the one you described since they're technically sharing the same ground anyway? Or do the negative terminals have to be directly linked
So could I put an isolater on the positive red cable, so when I run say a 12 vlt coolbox I turn isolater so Not drawing off vehicle battery, I am drawing power off the Aux battery only, that way making sure my vehicle battery does not drain off, !! when I travel I could top up aux battery by switching isolator which then connects power from vehicle battery to charge Aux one up ? is this an okay thing to do...
they will both charge at the same rate, half normal charge speed, but double capacity... some semis have 6+ battery. all directly connected to each other
This guy needs a new show, always liked watching him
He's had a few. Was on trucks on spike for a long time b
Agreed!
I did too! Funny how I remember him from when I was a kid
This is the best video on youtube he is straight to the point no deafening music thank you
Ikr been watching him for years
Farmer2492 Mann amen that’s all I needed to hear
Much love from New Mexico. I totally agree ..I was wondering do the batteries have to be the same????
This video was no longer than it needed to be, and good info, its simple stuff, but a lot of people dont know!
it was a 1:46 seconds?.....................theres others that are 15 min+....lol.....to long?lmao
@@theewelder read my comment again, carefully. I was saying that it was quick and concise
I think he read it wrong bro lol
Wow! At last a video on TH-cam that gets to the point. I wish more people didn't need to blow smoke up their own arses on TH-cam. Thanks mate.
PRECH MY BROTHER ..... HALLELUJAH

That's awesome! Check out the Gladiator Search & Rescue build on my channel! It's not a diesel, but you will probably like it.
@OfficialStaceyDavid I did like it I have watched everything you ever put out
So neat and simple. Excellent explanation for beginners.
Me too finally found exactly what I needed to know. Must follow your show!
Thanks for the great tip, you explained very simple and understandable for slow learners like me.
Thank you!...
Great simple and easy to understand without a million wires! Thanks
watching videos I saw the bronco and I recognized it from somewhere I saw it and I remembered that as a child I watched these videos even without understanding English how I loved them
Amazing video.. fast and to the point.. worth subscribing.
Awesome. Building my 1st bagged truck. Wasn't sure if they needed to be series or parallel
Great video brother God bless you and your family have a nice day
this actually answered my question hahah been wanting to use 2 battery for my tundra cos i got some led bars.
great presentation, simple and to the point.

Straitght to the point and great information and amazing video, thank you!
Fast, simple and it answered my question thanks for the great video.
Glad to help!
How do you recommend charging 2 optima 8050-160 D31T Batteries in parallel or series or separate to retain the best charge ?
Top video, many thanks 👍🏻
Thank you man this helps me vary much but 1 q I want to run a Cb ,pa system, and grill light on two batts should I use parallel? Or series
Great video! Fast and right to the point
I love your videos man!!!
Dose it makes difference if the batteries are not the same (brand and the starter one is not AGM) the sound system is AGM, thank you.

I got 8 xspower batteries in my bronco. Works everything together perfectly lights and big stereo. never drops below 12 volts with everything running.
Technically there will always be leakage current, Internal batt resistance are never the same. So hes right It is important to find the closest matching Batts
Joe Rabadue or get a isolator
Why in the world would anyone have given this a thumbs down?
Brad Saint George
cuz its cool to be a dick smh
TH-cam is full of haters lol.

Great explanation. You are a natural. Like your energy.
Awesome tip, always wondered how to do it!
Do I need to hook up the POS on one to NEG on the other 12v Parallel (OR) can I just parallel the 2nd battery off of the 1st battery?
great tip! so could i hook up two 12v leisure batterys in the same manner so i have plenty of power for say a week of wild camping in the rain/snow
When running in parallel does the power Out have to be neg/pos on each battery or can both Outs be on the same battery.
is it possible two I stall two bass caps ? I haven't two amps on a separate battery in the trunk, and was thinking of adding a bass cap, but I may have another coming my way so before I begin the install I was curious would I be able to use both? tha ks for feed back.
I love your show but I have a question about this keep it on 12 v out put what can I use for my cable can I use amp wire since it will have a fused link? Thanks for the info
Thanks But you have to buy special cables to hook up to your original battery Where do you get those ✌️👍🇨🇦
I almost hooked it up wrong which would have blown my amp. Sure am glad I watched this!

He is on Amazon prime
can you hook up optima red top with yellow top paralleled for 12v system?
hi, do i need to fuse the positive cables or no fuse? thanks

what kind of strain does this put on your alternator if any to keep two batteries charged?
It worked on my 98 turbo civic with sounds thanks
so if u had to jump a car with dual batteries what battery would u use to jump the dead car?
Can you connect a 12 volt battery to several UPS's?
Each UPS will want to charge up the battery(s) but will they conflict with each other trying to charge up the battery?
Can I wire my ground on in the truck instead of passing it to the first battery ? ( my 2nd battery would be in the truck ) Thanks
+Farouk Chaaban Yes. Yes you can.

Do I have to run another 1/0 guage cable from negative of front battery to negative of rear or can I chassis ground the front and rear?
If you had a battery in the back (trunk) an one up front im assuming you dont need to run another negative all the way back, you could just frame ground both.
so people are saying, yeah your right
Yes you can. You want the same gauge negative as your positive.
Can you just ground the second battery to your frame or will it not charge then?
i got it for 2 batteries, but what about wiring 3 or 4 in parallel ? wheres the neg out and the pos out?
What if you hooked up just the + and grounded both - to the frame?
Hi quick question if i connect 2 100 AH batteries together will that give me 200 ah
I want to mount 6 led lights on my 2008 tacoma. Total watts of the lights add up to 396 I'm using two wiring kits each with 40amp relays. Do you think it will be ok to run on stock battery and alternator with no problem ?
So can I use two yellow top batteries for car audio or is it better to use xs power?
Thanks man that was a good quick tip 👌
Hey,I have some questions regarding a dual battery set up ...
I was wanting to hook 2 batteries in my kia,one to another to be charged by Kia...but one is just a small
Bit larger...if i hook up the big one first and then the second to it wll it work like im hoping? I have 2 batteries both same brand just a few numbers off on each cca and crank amps
awesome video what gauge wire should i use to do that application
LAWNFORCE LLC 4 gage (2-4AWG)
So a basic 100A alternator could keep both batteries charged?
If you have a second battery in the trunk, will it matter if you don't connect the negative terminals? For example, if you just run positive the the second battery and ground it in the trunk.
Is that the same situation as the one you described since they're technically sharing the same ground anyway? Or do the negative terminals have to be directly linked
Do you ground both batteries? I seen people ground both and seen people ground battery opposite of battery that powers starter.
so they have to be the same wattage and power to hook up two ?
battery isolater? miss match banks? witch one to hook up inverter? Example: RV
Can the batteries be of different cranking amps and still be used?
That's all I needed to know! Thanks
what if I connect a 140rc and a 150rc? would that be bad?
So could I put an isolater on the positive red cable, so when I run say a 12 vlt coolbox I turn isolater so Not drawing off vehicle battery, I am drawing power off the Aux battery only, that way making sure my vehicle battery does not drain off, !! when I travel I could top up aux battery by switching isolator which then connects power from vehicle battery to charge Aux one up ? is this an okay thing to do...
When u said the batteries have to match, do u mean same exact battery? Or can I do like a stock duralast battery with a optima yellow top battery?
Thank you for a simple video
Do I need an isolator or a fuse between the 2 batteries ?
If a fuse is need it what size is recommended?
Any help is very appreciated
Can I do this on any car including my 2018 Chevy Malibu but retail 12V?
they will both charge at the same rate, half normal charge speed, but double capacity...
some semis have 6+ battery. all directly connected to each other
Thank u vary much about to hook my second battery up for my 4 15 audio system
Very good video many thanks
Thanks, I needed that.
Do the wire gauges have to match your first battery?
