I once a video of yours that emphasized on turning shoulders and to help with that you said to feel as though you are punching with your left arm during the back swing… I have spent a lot of time trying to locate that video for a friend!Carole
Great way of showing how to keep the arms "in front" of you. Golf instruction always said your arms shoud stop going back when your body is done turning. This video actually shows us how to do it!
Fantastic video, clicked right away at the range and was hitting the most consistent I have in a while with my irons. Trying to rework my swing and one of my biggest issues is body turn and left arm bending. Thank you.
Eric; perfect video for what I'm working on. How do I not tense my muscles while doing this? Also would love to see a video on when you release wrist hinge. I'm seeing very inconsistant spin numbers off my matt at home in my sim.
Hey Brian! I would say while feeling this TENSION is OK.....maybe even necessary. For this you dont need to worry about being relaxed....that for a different day. @@CogornoGolf Thanks Eric. I will watch and let you know. Do you ever spend time in Bethlehem anymore. Would be interested in a few lessons possibly. I live in Doylestown, PA.
Eric very clear explanation of up and back with right shoulder and chest keeping left arm straight . I did my back swing with a mirror facing my right side I notice my shoulders are more flat and around. I do not have the shoulder tilt like you do. I quit playing golf for about 2 years and when I got back I noticed I lost a lot of distance and control. I did not realize until this video that I am not coiling like you. That more than likely explains my distance loss that I was using mostly arms and not tilt and torsion. Can't wait to see the difference. It feels like I am in a more powerful position at the top of my backswing now. Thank you so much.
Hey Eric, thanks so much for all that you do..So with extending your back arm wouldn't that foster a flying elbow swing with your back elbow. How do you accomplish that with keeping your rear elbow tucked into your side? Thanks so much..
Appreciate your support! The feel to ensure you don't get the flying trail elbow would be to feel like you're squeezing your trail elbow in towards your lead elbow AS you're extending the trail elbow. You may enjoy this video! th-cam.com/video/6OapTjdg0qk/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared Hope this helps!
Thanks Nick! I general it does....but totally OK to have it bend some (especially with driver since its up on a tee)......just have to match the other body parts to it. I wouldn't lose sleep over it being perfectly straight.....but dont want it like 90* bent either :)
Hey Mark! Good question.....won't be the same feels for everyone. Its doesn't HAVE TO.....can it CAN. Try both and see what hits it best/looks best on video
Eric - do you have any way that I can buy you a cup of coffee? Patreon or something? This was a very good tip/lesson/drill, with content as good as almost all of your TH-cam videos. It is easily worth a cup of coffee and ... I Challenge Each Person Who Looks At These Comments ... to buy you a cup of on-line coffee!! Thanks again
I appreciate that :) By you being here and watching is payment enough. If you could make sure you are subscribed and click the "like" button that always helps!! Thank you for your support!!
Not a ton! Lots of the same... Feeling of chest slightly up and trail shoulder up and back in backswing Feeling of chest slightly up and lead shoulder up and back in follow through Main different is your body will have shifted much more forward toward target in downswing I go through a drill to combo those here: th-cam.com/video/9zpEft_u7dE/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUqRXJpYyBDb2dvcm5vIEdvbGYgdGhpcyBtb3ZlIGNoYW5nZWRteSBsaWZl
The biggest fault in my swing is bending my lead arm. I can control it better on the range or in my SIM, but inevitably I will get several swings during a round where is folds. Playing partners think I'm just flexible, but I know the overswing is from a collapsed lead arm. Your drill makes perfect sense, and I use it. Any ideas for taking that practice to the course under pressure?
Hey Nick! Yes! I go through all of those details in my Full Swing Range Practice Plan...you can find that here: ericcogornogolf.podia.com/eric-cogorno-s-ultimate-full-swing-range-practice Hope this helps!
I feel I have to allow my head to slightly turn with the backswing. Keeping both eyes on the ball could help with depth perception. While also keeping the elbows together and using the trail arm to help keep the left arm as straight as possible.
I would make sure you have enough body turn and extension first things first or else trying to stretch the arms out when the body has no turn or extension is tough!
More details on that here: th-cam.com/video/eXhuQPuEgec/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUVRXJpYyBDb2dvcm5vIGNlbnRlcmVk th-cam.com/video/YquRd9mVUzY/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUVRXJpYyBDb2dvcm5vIGNlbnRlcmVk
Keeping the left arm as straight as possible I think forces me to loosen my grip on the club, or need to keep the grip light. The only way I’ll become comfortable with a lighter grip on the club is to practice, practice, practice.
The other day I had on the back nine, 5 one putt greens. The day before I meditated on being on the green and contemplating the putt. Meditation creates the peace of mind necessary to establish the touch with the putter. The excitement of tee to green is overwhelming. So meditation constantly before the round is necessary.
I'm jealous of you guys who can get your left shoulders under the chin in the backswing. I"m a good 4" short of that. If I want to have my back to the target, my head has to go 45 degrees. I always wondered why my friends of equal or less overall athletic ability could use 9 iron while I needed 7 or even 6 iron. Finally figured out why after watching so many of the great videos on the tube.
Hope this helps ya Leonard! One thing can do to help add more turn is to pull your trail foot back a bit, flare the foot out and get that trip hip around more......all of those can help get more "shoulder turn" from other areas More on that here: th-cam.com/video/KGEBSufIGwo/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUURXJpYyBDb2dvcm5vIHNlbmlvciA%3D th-cam.com/video/mcr8AVc8y6o/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUURXJpYyBDb2dvcm5vIHNlbmlvciA%3D

Looks so easy, thing i can never understand is how not to be flat though even with solid width. The left arm looks like it goes up in the front on. Mine goes round 😢
Hey! That should be easy to fix honestly.....with or without width too much depth can only be caused by one of a few things. Too much turn, hand path too in from lead arm too much across to trail arm/shoulder too much around. Send vids to www.cogornogolf.com this shouldn't be hard to diagnose and fix

Some neck rotation totally good!
Better to feel for the neck rotating the head. The probability of wobbling the head is significantly reduced.
I must have a torn rotator because it hurts to straighten my left arm. Or I do it wrong.
I would make sure you have enough body turn and extension first things first or else trying to stretch the arms out when the body has no turn or extension is tough!
Thanks. By “head and shoulders up”, do you mean not leaning left or right, I.e., keeping head in circle?
Yep....keeping head in the circle it started....to do that you need some left shoulder down, chest up (level to ground)
