Kodiak Canvas Tent Winter Camping Setup while Snowing

  • Spent 5 days trying out Winter Camping ⛺️ in our backyard, was a lot of fun! First time using the stove in the tent with the snow being a bonus. Hoping for another storm to roll in so we can do it again. Also considering adding a second stove jack for additional setup options. We got out lags at Home Depot as my yard was a concrete place in the past so we have 6-8 inched of soil before hitting concrete crumble. The lag screws go right in whereas the stakes cant go in all the way.
    Happy Camping!

    Y'all weren't too proud or too good to use a drill! That's outstanding!!! Nice camp...
    Edited to add: I haven't gotten it yet but in the next couple of weeks I'm gonna go ahead and get a 4kw planar diesel heater. The wood stoves are so nice but I can carry a gallon of kerosene a whole lot easier than I can keep up with splitting wood or getting up every couple of hours to keep it going. The fire in the stove sure is prettier though!

    I have the 10x10.
    Love it.
    Quality is top tier.
    The white canvas floor covering is not the best idea for day to day traffic.
    White floor outdoors....???
    Durable-no doubt...it's white though..within 5 minutes....it's forever stained.
    Perhaps someday- Kodiak Canvas will offer a darker floor canvas option.
    Thank you for the decent video review and winter camping tour.

      Ya the white tarp does get dirty fast! I use a shop vac to get a good portion of it and did a pressure wash in the summer time

    I couldn't help but laugh when your daughter came in with here cookie and wiped cholcoale or whatever over your brand new sleeping pad. It made me laugh and think about my little girls. Brother, enjoy this time with the kids, my oldest little girl just turned 30 this year and my younger one is 27, man it goes by so quickly, I can still recall them being that small and not even knowing they are messy hahha. Jess, would freak out as a kid if she seen dirt on her hands, but would run around with a grin ear to ear with stuff all over her. little face hahaha, she couldn't see that hahaha. Enjoy your new tent and camping experiences may you all have many many years to come sir.
    PS, subbed you as well. looking forward to seeing more of yall adventures.

    Definitely get the silicone rubber stove jack elbows will be much safer more secure in high wind..but thanks for bringing us along..looking to get my Kodiak 10x10 vx here in next couple weeks while on sale..also a cooking tip my grandmother taught me, God rest her soul..but try using mayonnaise in place of butter to toast bread, really gives it extra great flavor, and browns it perfectly evenly every single time

    Robert D: Well, about 90% of outfitter tent makers put them in the roof... so there's that.😁

    Hey Andy. Thanks for talking the time to make this vid. Planning on getting the same tent and doing some sort of stove jack mod myself. That stove looks interesting, not the one I was planning on getting but the large diameter stove pipe looks like a lot less maintenance in the long run. Beautiful family, you take good care of them kids brother. (òÓ,)_\,,/

      The wood stove is fun but other heat sources you can get more sleep and not have to get up in the night. Used the buddy heater and electric space heater and got a good nights rest. Thanks, I will take care of them 👍😀!

    Did your tent come with the option for the hot stove? Or did you somehow customize it? If you did please make a video or tell us how to do it! Its a great idea!

    Nice but y would you put the stove Jack infront of the door way

    • @boominaudio
      @boominaudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s offset from the door a bit, main idea was to have it in the center of the tent. Kicking around the idea of putting another stove jack in the corner 😂 to have options!

    I am curious how like the stove in the middle? I am looking to fit my 10x14 with a stove, and I have seen those who go through the side wall, and a few like you who went through the roof. Any regrets? Modifications?

    • @boominaudio
      @boominaudio  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      After being in some rain and snow storms with and without the stove -no regrets. I did buy a second stove jack as I was contemplating a side install as well to have other options, but haven’t don’t it yet. Might do it soon. I did add a zippered inlet( another video) for electric or a gas hose on the front and that has performed great as well.

      @@boominaudio - My Kodiak 10x14 is not the V one, so the sides are all canvas. Do you feel like you walking around it a lot? How does the pipe handle the twisting of the tent when windy?

    • @boominaudio
      @boominaudio  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jaynesjunction I don’t feel like it is in the way, but chose that spot for even heating- can be too much at times so need to work on getting long even burns dialed in. I did have the tent take the pipe out once during some wind so am going to use something to lock it together for future uses.

    • @boominaudio
      @boominaudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question, Nope, I have done (2) 5 day fires and no burn or even brown spots on the roof. I need to post the take down video because it’s kinda funny on how we cleaned out the remaining ash out of the stove. and show the buildup in the stove pipe

      Kinda agree...plan on getting the same tent and putting the stove jack on the side...I'm a tarp guy though....both under and over. Don't need that chimney going out the top because that's where my top tarp will be and dumping most of the snow.
