Hi man I am 44 years old too and i 've been at this spot [W6] few times trying doing same trick like you .Well Done ,never give .forever Young .Regards !
as someone who just started to integrate these into my skating, i went from zero consistency to almost 100% consistency over night because of one little trick tip i figured out and i figured it out because my backslide noseslides were coming in just fine, yet my frontside noseslides weren't and i wasn't quite sure what it was until i realized it was all front foot position and nothing more. for some reason, my foot position was changing *ever so slightly* between the two, but once i put my foot in the exact same position for both frontside & backside, my frontside started coming in. it's going to change depending on the deck, trucks, wheels, etc...but there is basically an exact pressure point/pressure pocket that if you put the ball of your foot there, it's a guaranteed slide. don't think of sliding the whole nose, think of a small circle that the ball of your foot will stand on as the contact point. on my setup, it's maybe only 2 inches in front of the bolts. it looks like your foot might be too far forward on the nose and your toes too far off the board, which is great for leverage, but isn't necessarily good for sliding. stop thinking of using the entire nose and just think about putting the ball of your foot on the curb and transferring you weight onto the ball of your foot. and really push down with the ball of your foot too. toes/ball of your foot dead center on that nose.
Dude, you're hilarious, this is real world skateboarding 👍🏻 im pretty much at the same stage as you, just trying to have fun and having a go at myself for not doing it right or not comitting 😂
I need to find a nice quiet car park like you have! All the ones near me are either crusty as hell or super busy until 9-10pm, and I don't want the awkward feeling of being watched by random people... or my board shooting out and hitting a car 😅 Quite a few of yours I would count as legit (there is no minimum distance); if it slides it counts! 😀 Keep up the practice, I dragged my board out the other night after watching your vid on the shove it and managed to get both feet to land on the board (heels were still on the ground but it's still progress!)
I wouldn’t normally do this but: unsolicited advice… lean forward as you jump, or jump forward into the board to start with (to get the feeling for jumping forward when you shuv. Heels down means you can 100% you just got to get to the board a bit more. Google earth is your friend for finding car park spots… maybe look for something more like an office, so after 6pm it’s yours
I’ve been skating 8” pop and 8.9 egg (8.5” over truck) just so I have variety. egg hands down are more fun and cozy to ride, no idea why. Someone your size, I recommend the chainsaw egg (9.125”/8.75 over truck) with thunder light (forged) trucks. Love your videos thanks to youtube algorithms would love to skate with you (older/beginner skater in London too!)
Yeah what variation you have! I’m 6 months (or landing a kickflip, whatever comes first 😉) away from a new board but I’m so tempted to go big. Despite putting it on TH-cam, I can be socially awkward, but I’m always skating in south London or Monday nights at Hopking beginner session. Please say hello 👋🏻 and massive thanks for watching the videos!!
Thanks for watching. If it’s a trick you’re battling I highly recommend the video linked in the description!! He really fills in the gaps vs some of the bigger TH-camrs.
I feel like I’d be up getting on a wider egg (like 9”, with some Ace’s and 52mm wheels) but for the popsicle shape I’m staying under 8.38, it feels right
I have struggled with this trick just like you. I actually stopped trying the trick for months until at one skatepark coming up in a few weeks where I actually got a few. They were not great but they slide a little at least and this was after giving up on the trick. I think what the main issue is, is the UK curb. Our curbs are very crusty and sticky. I think to get a noseslide on our curbs you have to be really comfortable doing them and be able to go at a fairly fast speed. I could be wrong but it seems strange that I could get it on the skatepark curb even after not trying it for months but when trying it for a few days in a row out on the streets I wasn't getting anywhere. Try and find a skatepark curb and give it a go there to see if its any better for you. Maybe I just got lucky one day, only time will tell I guess.
We don’t have as nice a surface on pavements or curbs as they do in 🇺🇸 but my carpark curb definitely slides well (it’s just me) and if getting comfortable to go faster is what it’s going to take then so be it… Not many skateparks near me have a good curb or low many pad, but I have tried and they do slide cleaner for sure. It’s times like this I wish I had storage to keep a homemade manny pad or something.
Yay. Start the video with 3 people I can't stand! 🤣 The more of an angle you come in at the easier it is to slide. You just gotta get the nose on and the momentum will do the work.🛹 I usually come in almost parallel and turn the board 90* onto it. (basically power slide motion).
I hope that didn’t put you off. And, although it might not have come across, I meant to be sarcastic. Lots of those big channels (Braille was the worst) make it sound so simple, but often don’t consider how huge a challenge things are for actual beginners. Missing good cues that actually unlock tricks. It’s taking me some time to get to the parallel approach , but I’m stoked that I can now come at less than 45° Anyone you suggest worth checking out on YT?
@@Ungracefulmovement Not at all. I just don't watch any of them or Braille. I used to watch everybody but then I was like "why am I trying to skate like them?" ...Then just starting figuring stuff out for myself. That's basically what it comes down to. I have a general idea how things are done coming from skating in the 80/90s. Just can't do most of it anymore 🤣🤣 Sam Tabor (old videos) is who got me back into Skating. 🤷♂He (was) good but sucks at the same time and not all like "Do this to do that".

I watched it through and liked the vlog if you’ll accept the compliment 😉 Good nose slide progress and this NC’s are a hop back on away from a great make ✌🏻 I had a nice mini sesh Monday morning and learnt a new trick only to find my SD card errored and lost the lot 😮
re-watching this vid has flagged a couple of things - and moving my head i the top of the list (i've struggled with fs 180 too and i'm thinking it's the same reason) thanks for watching btw!!
Dan Corrigan is telling u exactly how I'd tell u trest like a pivot expect your weight to get on it and expect the slide as you get to the end back truck to the floor turn ride away or go how you feel comfortable u got the no comply to just expect it to happen and it will
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻 I’d basically forgotten the golden rule (even for a pivot) that your board / hips follow your head and shoulders, so that’s helped a lot.
After taking a bad fall recently I've been looking at slappys as a fairly low impact source of fun, Just no idea where to look for appropriate curbs here in the UK
Industrial estate car-parks. I went looking for a quiet space in my local Sainsburys / B&Q carpark and found this curb already waxed up and skated. Which part of the UK are you?

man i need to work on these too. i practice just stalling on my nose so i can learn how to put all my weight on my front foot and even thats hard. im almost back to where i can skate again. i have been wanting to learn these for a long time. im just not putting the work in. also i dont play the smaller board thing . i have a new deal siamese thats 9.5 on indy 169s. i like it way better than my old 8.25. im older too man. i didnt skate while i was doing the family job thing for 25 years so i might as well have started from scratch. did you scrape and wax the side of the curb ? it looks like you got it you just need to go about twice as fast as you are.
I’m working on going faster. Getting over fear. I was lucky and I think someone else has put the effort into smoothing out this curb over the year. Now I’m just enjoying it and maintaining. Keep at it yourself. The board is about how you feel good and comfortable, shouldn’t be a barrier to getting some tricks.

I guess you won’t see this reply 😂 but thanks for the tip
They have slidier curbs in LA and Vancouver - thats why Dan, Spencer and Ben slappy so easy. 😀 But never the less, I call it progress!
🙏🏻 I’m adding that they are also sick at skating, so that helps. 🤣
I love ❤ slappys and curb skating, so versatile and hours of fun (and frustration ha ha 😂) 👊😎💯🔥💜
