After a certain age DMV should require periodic road tests and / or have a doctor sign off on person' cognitive and decision making abilities needed to drive. I have MS w/ hand controls and my neurologist has to sign off yearly stating that I'm still able to safely drive. Plus DMV recently required me to retake road test to prove competence with hand controls. Seems this should be a requirement for everyone beyond a certain age, as the consequences from accidents due to incompetent drivers is just too high.

Paramedic x 21 years here. Ms. Cheryl Henderson (the lady with the guy on her hood and ants on her feet) should be checked/tested for frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Her lack of understanding of how she was at fault (lack of empathy) and inappropriate emotions around the incident, accompanied with a recall of events that didn’t happen are indicative and possibly diagnostically sensitive for FTD.

At the very least, he should have conducted FSTs, or made him get out of the drivers seat since he shouldn't have been behind the wheel in the first place! Everyone is responsible for their own actions, however the police take an oath to protect & serve. I'm sure the officer does feel guilty. As he should. As they stated the tests aren't about passing and failing but checking for distracted attention/focus, and the main thing is the BAC test, which does indicate that she was intoxicated at the time. The brakes should be properly checked to see if there was any problems which could indicate that the accident wasn't solely due to being intoxicated, but we don't know that they weren't.
