I accept everything as long it's not like 2.00 which I have seen on an alcohol delivery. I forgot to screenshot because I was laughing so hard. In the DFW area I seldom see 1.00 a mile.
We, drivers, should have a petition to uber and lyft stating that. Also they should get rid of the acceptance rating. Keep the rating that riders give us.
Got a ping today for an airport run in my area which was 65 miles one way. Lyft offered $45!! I crunched some numbers after rejecting it. Between gas, tolls, time and no rides back to my home area the ride would have been worth less than $30. And Lyft was charging the Pax $100. So they were going to take a 55% bite out of that ride. One word. Criminal!! What really gets me is they seem to have one basic blanket rate for every area now. My area never gets surges and bonuses are an extreme rarity. So it’s just crap UFP rates all day long.
Uber and Lyft drivers need to band together you have to shut off as soon as you have a customer in your car stop accepting requests drop your customer let the app shut off and then see what's happening I guarantee you the whole country will be on file they are charging the customers full retail same as the cabs we are giving better service than the cabs and they reward us with 40 to 50% of the take shut off after every ride gain control of the app without us they have no business
@Sergio-SMTMC I have two phones personally I cannot work two phones and drive a car at the same time. That's why I shut off as soon as I pick up a customer cuz while I'm driving they throw crap trip upon crap trip at you you destroy all your metrics for what? The answer is every Uber driver has to shut off during the trip and I guarantee you when they look around they're going to see red all over
This is the way guys, wake up, did you see how the rates get better and better when Sergio declined the first handful of trips... this is what I do. Play your own game, stop swinging to their low ball offers, it won't stop, wait for the good ones and hit homerun
@MNIFG74 it is not a 1 time trial for 30 min, maybe you tried on a bad time or bad day. You don't get a full concept of the strategy until you comprehend your market, apply it and master it. Is like sign up to drive 1st time and makeup a conclusion based on the very first ride you get.
You are naive to think your decline rides makes prices go up for you or anyone else. The algorithm would never let the inmates run the asylum especially if made less money for Uber or charged more money to the rider. I can prove it with one simple question: since your acceptance rate went to single digits, has your fares gotten better? Of course not. If they did your acceptance rate would be higher! With UFP everyone's acceptance rates have dropped and prices stayed the same or gotten worse. Stop kidding yourself. Sergio is right. If you want to survive in rideshare you have to be dynamic with your rides selections. Paying attention to where rides are starting and ending. Time of day and to minimize downtime and deadhead. Not sitting around for 2 hours for that one ride that pays well. You just wasted 2 hours.
Past 3 days I’ve been testing and ONLY taking high "per mile" rides. My AR has dropped from 86% to 71%, no big deal. What IS interesting is how my tips have completely disappeared! I used to get tipped around 8 out of 10 rides. In these past 3 days I’ve only been tipped 4 times total! I average anywhere from 9-13 rides/day so that’s 27-39 rides in the past 3 days WITH ONLY 4 TIPS! Something is definitely going on! I realize the trips I’m accepting now are on the higher end so maybe the riders won’t tip because it’s costing them an unfair amount to get from A to B. (?)
I have a whole crap load of screenshots and recordings of this same situation.... but mine is MUCH worse!!!! I never see trips for anything close to 20$ for a ride. Unless it's like a 90 min ride.
Surge is deceptive. The offers presented seem ordinary if surge wasn’t present. We should get paid that plus the surge pricing. As analyzed, the trips make no economic sense when surge pricing is subtracted. So, it seems, they are claiming surge pricing, when in fact, there is no surge pricing. Smoke and mirrors. Decline, decline, decline.
Since upfront pricing...I been doing short trips with high surge. Even if the rare long trip that's worth it I still deny it. If the app learns your driving habits I dont want that app to think at all that I'm taking longer trips.
Same! It's saved on gas and mileage. The rare occasion will be the following since I have an XL: 1. UberX Priority along with a surge (picked up a couple going to the airport for $65), then got someone on the way back for $55 2. UberXL surging 3. When its not surging, I stick to $15 going short distances and $30 for 30mins, depending on the time of day and where the person is going I also do UberEats, so that's another animal
Im a platinum level driver in Portland Oregon, driving since October 2022. The trip requests I get are limited to pick up location and time and direction to drop off location. I get maybe 1 in 25 requests that show the full information you're showing in this video. Is this limitation based on working in Portland, or my profile within Uber?
Drove for 5.5 hours yesterday in Palm Beach County, Florida. Completed 20 rides for an average of $4.60 per ride. A whopping $93. Have over 8K rides. I’m done with the lousy upfront fares.
I wish I could even see ANY information about anything ffs. Only thing I know is the pick up location and that's it. When is Up Front pricing coming to every city?
Here in philly we never get surges that high either and when we drive over a 100 miles to take people to new york we get $50-60 and the tolls are $38 just to get into new york, and then when we drop passengers we cant get pick ups in new york to even go back to jersey or PA
I have a question i do rides but when i want to do uber eats i berely get any requests. And i see other uber eats drivers get requests back and for. Its like uber force me to do uberX so i have to turn on uberX because other wise i will sit for hours waiting for a delivery
I live in the Central part of Texas not far from Austin but i would like to know why Uber doesn’t let you see your trip destination unless you’re in the bigger cities. Generally you have to accept blind trips in my area and you don’t see where there going until you pickup the passenger
They are not afraid you getting classified as an employee. They know in an emergency they can buy city council or mayor. Its a lot harder in a big city, not impossible. they bought NYC council in 2014. how do you think they were allowed to run an ilegal taxi service.
I am from Australia and I do not get Any of the Trip Information, All I get is the Rough Location of Pick Up and how many minutes Away. I do not get to See the Cost of the Fare, but I do know that Uber will Gouge approx. 30% of the Total Fare. In My Fishing Area, I do not Accept Fares that are over 4-5 minutes away, but generally most of my Fares are around $10 before the Uber Gouge, Rarely I will get a $15+ Fare before the Gouge, but time on Fare is Generally $1+ per minute, so $60+ per hour less the down time going to collect the rider.
I just started driving and trying to understand the app. My app needs to show where the ride is going. It's only showing mins to pick up, the distance, and the star rating of the person I'm picking up. Why doesn't it show the drop-off location?
Here are my rules for taking trips: first, I refuse to take any trips off trip radar, ever. It's a stupid feature at best and dangerous to drivers at worst. I don't care if it's 1 minute away and pays $20 a mile, the answer is no. Second, I require that the trip pay me at least $1 a mile (including my travel time to get there) and at least $20 an hour. A $4.50 trip that takes me 15 minutes is a no. Third, I will never pay a toll to travel to a pickup. That's absurd, and why Uber gives drivers ride requests that require us to pay a toll to give someone a ride baffles me. I ignore what a trip would be without a surge if a surge is included. I don't care if a trip would be x dollars without a surge; if a surge bumps a trip into lucrative territory then that means the system is working as intended.
Have a question if I may. I drive Uber in Jacksonville, Fl. They kept pushing how I was closing in on PRO status but then they jump on me for not taking rides. Is there any way to get around this problem? Thanks, Ed
Sergio-SMTMC I don't take anyone under 4.7 now. Since the upfront pricing not only has my acceptance rate went way down but my star rating has dropped from a 4.9 to a 4.7. I was a long time diamond driver and it's like now every day there is a new report of me speeding or being rude. It's so frustrating. And I been doing it 8 years now.
I've been Uber'ing part-time for a couple of months, just starting more full-time hours. The requests only show me the customer star rating and how many minutes to the pickup address, and sometimes a 'premium likely' message. How do I see the rest of the information? The app says I can get an estimated time of trips & general direction if I reach Gold Status - but that requires meeting a 85% acceptance rate which I can't have if I keep declining requests that are too many minutes away. What should my next steps be?
Seems what Uber and lyft did is give us up front pricing but lowered pay for longer trips. Also Uber took away premium pick up pay for far away pick ups. Some of the trip request are insulting but Uber knows someone desperate will do any trip even if they net a buck.
I think most drivers just wait for the supplement to be added for longer trips. I won't take a far away ride that's more than 30mins, it's not worth it anymore. I stick to 20mins at best, and I base it on $2 per mile. So when it surges, I stick to the trips that will go 20mins because it pays more and adds more. My pay has gone up, AR significantly low. What happens with the undesirable trips, they keep being pinged back to the driver over and over. I remember signing out of Uber to do a quick errand, then 10 or 15mins later I log back in and the same undesirable trip comes back at me. It seems many drivers in my area are smart, and many drivers have refused the far away trips because they don't pay. I picked up a woman the other day who had put the wrong town. She argued that she never did, and I showed her on the app that she did. She whined that she needed it to be this town, and I told her that isn't the trip I accepted. I don't drive out of this area, I stick to 10 towns and surrounding boroughs. She then said, "How am I going to get home, I've been waiting 45mins." I showed her how she was matched to another driver, and she got out of the car. Funny enough, I then saw on her app as she left that the driver she was matched with cancelled and she was then switched to another driver. Many drivers have caught on that far away trips are no longer worth our time.
I'm still confused I wish they would have went in more detail So I'm wondering what I should accept per mile and per minute? How about if both add up to over $1 a mile?
This question is different for every driver. You'll want to consider your operating costs for example. For many drivers $1.00 or more can be a good starting point.
How about not getting paid for tolls on your way back from a drop off in New York as a Jersey driver every time I go to the airports $17 Comes out of my pocket and get paid only $22 for the trip for minimum one and a half to 3 1/2 hours driving. I would love a response even better action thank you
@@ricksanchez8393 Because with upfront earnings they don't tell you how much they are paying you per minute and per mile. When you ask support to break things down, they give you an ambiguous answer. They will not be specific and just tell you it's based upon how far the pickup was and the on trip miles and duration. Have you not been watching the "Show me the money" cast? They've shown how "Upfront Earnings" is a money grab for Uber and Lyft. In other words, they are paying drivers less now because what a driver gets payed isn't based up an agreed upon rate per minutes and per mile. So consider yourself fortunate for the time being, because you will be making less once they bring "upfront earnings" to your area. From my calculations based upon what the rates were prior to "upfront earnings" on average they are paying drivers 6% to 10% less. This is why if you aren't cherry picking, then you are losing even more. Here's what I've figured out about "upfront earnings" they are taking more when it's a long trip. A lot more. Not sure about your area, but in LA I rarely accept trips that are longer than 20 minutes, and I never accept trips that have more than 5 minutes to pickup. This is the way to actually make more money with "upfront earnings", but you must be diligent about the rides you accept. Many drivers don't work smart. The key is to have patience and know your worth. For example, the other day I received a request that would have paid me $49, but it was a long trip, so I didn't accept it. Then 5 minutes later I received another request that paid me $27 and I took it. This was the right move to make because the one that would have paid me $49 was to an are I know I wouldn't have been able to receive a request back to a desired area to work, which means I would have lost money in the time and distance on the way back. The trip for $27 took me to an are that I know is busy. Right after I dropped the $27 trip off I got another trip for $17 that took me to another busy are. 10 minutes after I dropped the $17 ride off I got another trip for $23 that kept me in a busy are. In other words, if I would have takin the $49 trip I would have lost money because of the dead time to drive back to a busy are. Many drivers see those high dollar trips and take them, but they actually lose money on those trips, not only because Uber and Lyft are taking more on long trips, but because of dead time to travel back to a desired area. The math speaks for itself. I prefer the old model because I know how much I am making per minute and per mile, which means, for example, taking someone to the airport, I can taking a route that is further in distance, but about the same time in duration. Now with upfront earnings I take the route that puts the least amount of miles on my car, because with upfront earnings I'm being paid the same amount no matter if the trip takes longer and/or is further in distance. But since upfront earnings started I take far less airport rides because Uber and Lyft are screwing driver big time on airport rides, and because of the traffic to get back to a desired area to work. In other words, airport trips, unless they are at a none traffic time, are not worth it anymore because of dead time to get back to a high demand area and because Uber and Lyft are paying drivers less since with upfront earnings the pay is not based upon a per minute and per mile rate. The moral of the story is that upfront earnings is worse then being paid on a per minute and per mile amount. The key to upfront earnings is short trips. If that doesn't answer your question, I'm not sure what will.
That’s great with high surges. But what about those of us that drive in areas that have 0 surges?!? I live in SoCal but 40 miles east of LA. Do I need to go to LA to drive?
It seems you live in a hot area for surges and you’re splitting hairs here. We can all do the same math. I drive all LA and don’t see consecutive surges like you do. Yes Uber is screwing us and we still have the option to drive or not. Why you still driving?
SO with lift when you cancel it drops your level down . Platinum as well as your 5 star when you don't accept or if you cancel. How do you keep 5 star and Platinum
Again can you guys help drivers in New Jersey? Even as a diamond driver we can’t see and know where the rider is going and how much we gonna be paid.come on help us talk about it.
I have never seen surge 10 dollars once been ubering 1 year in Orlando market. So basically we have max 1.50 surge to no surge .all been cut off The pins pop up most trips about 4-6 dollars make drivers sick of stomach..Uber is so unfair pay with so heavy traffic 20 minutes greedy fare 4.20 even in the airport carry all luggage for that shity 4 .20 those trip radars have no price show in most case at Orlando market.I would never trust them. 4-6 automatic decline if Dara no show the money even 1 min away I don’t warse time. Lyft are even shit F worse company in rideshare business
If you don’t take trips, you don’t make money…that’s pretty simple. So, I’m suppose to drive around all day waiting on the right fare?? Wasting time and gas?? To most people, SOME money is better than NO money, SOME food is better than NO food!
Segio help uber now takes the surge away my uber show 7 surge and l haves pin and the rider cancer then my surge dropped to 2.50 that never happened before was going on someone splashing please 🙏
Sergio I have a big question , I know the reason you and the other guy do these videos but the big question is what do you think UBER or Lyft think about your videos?
@Sergio-SMTMC what is your feedback on getting a rental car to be specific a TESLA ? I am putting way too many miles on my 2021 car, please let me know. Thank you!!
Sergio I want to let you know that I don’t drive more then 3 miles for pick up and I don’t do less then $10 per trip no matter what but I have to let you know that UBER is giving me so much Time out like I was a bad kid in school they hate so much cause o don’t pick trips at less then $10
why are you getti8ng these rides but not excepting arnt these people that needs rides that your playing around with just letting rides come up and not even taking them
Basically what Uber is now doing is using the surge to motivate drivers to take long pick up rides. For example if you use the ride request for $19.33 and use the old rates of $0.22 per minute and $0.64 per mile, you would have made $1.33 more than what the ride would have paid given Uber had been paying drivers for pickup time and distance prior to the "Upfront Earnings" model. In other words, the driver would have grossed $2.37 per mile. The problem is the time and distance for the driver to drive back home. I say driver back home because, unless the driver drops off in an area with a high surge, it's probably not worth it to take the ride for $19.33. So the driver will have to account for the lost time and distance to get back home and/or to travel to a high surge area, unless the driver is able to get another similar paying ride at or near the drop off location, then it would be worth it. But the chance on that happening are not likely. This ride would net average the driver $27.43 per hour, but that is not what the reality is of the average hourly earnings because of the time waisted while waiting for another ride with as high of a surge and because of wear and tear/depreciation of the car for distance traveling back home and/or a high surge area. The only way a driver can average $27.43 per hour is if they get consecutive rides one after the other with this high of a surge. Which we all know is not likely. The average hourly net earnings in reality is less than $12 per hour. A job at Starbucks, Chipotle, Target, etc. pays much better than doing Uber X and regular Lyft rides. Ride-share driving is a total waist of life. The only time it really makes sense to do ride-share is if you are doing Lyft Lux Black and you are cherry picking. Uber black doesn't even make sense anymore because of the cost of commercial auto insurance, because the market is over saturated in LA. Too many Uber black car drivers. I work from home, so I just leave the app on all day. I average about 2-3 rides per day, but I used to average 6-7, because now there are too many black car drivers. I have sat and watched the rider app and can see all the other black car drivers in my area sitting there for hours on end waiting for a black car request. These drivers are sitting on their butts in their cars all day waisting life waiting for a request. What these drivers don't realize is that their is an invisible queue. What this means is that even if they are closer to the person requesting the ride it doesn't guarantee them the request, because if there is a driver within a certain distance who has been in the are longer, then they will get the request first. So drivers should know that it's best to wait in areas where there are no driver, or very few. Imagine you wait for hours and then you get a request which is a short distance. If you don't accept the request, then you get pushed to the back of the queue. If you do accept the request, you still get pushed to the back of the queue if you return to that same are upon dropping off the pax. So even if you get a high paying ride, let's say $40, but you probably waited 3 hours for that request, you now grossed #13.33 per hour, which is actually far less because of the costs involved. The moral of the story is, ride-share only pays if you are doing Lyft Lux Black rides and are able to earn money while you are waiting for a request. Many drivers will argue my point, but numbers don't lie. Besides human life, time is the most valuable thing we have. Stop waisting your life people. Find something you are passionate about and work towards it. You will never be able to do this in rid-share. Never.

Absolutely. Sometimes they give you $3.75 for a ride and you wonder if your car is owned by the MTA…… no Uber ride should be less than $8

I whish we had Upfront Fare in New Jersey.
I just started driving and trying to understand the app. My app needs to show where the ride is going. It's only showing mins to pick up, the distance, and the star rating of the person I'm picking up. Why doesn't it show the drop-off location?
Here's a question... How do I decide what trips to take when I'm not being told how much the ride is going to pay me?
I'm new ,, in CT I don't get rates close to this ?? Why
Most are about .50c mile
Pls explain
Damn here in Phoenix you'd have to have an apocalyptic event happen to get a 15 dollar surge.
For my i work for lyft and i accept every call that comes in and make anywhere between $100 and up and alot of times i can hit $80 within 5 hours
@Sergio-SMTMC keep up the terrific work and Merry Christmas!
Feels like bonuses complement the lowered regular rate for those fares during surges, it makes them look more appealing if you don't pay too much attention you see big bonus, but reg, pay at .25© per mile 🤷
Have a question if I may. I drive Uber in Jacksonville, Fl. They kept pushing how I was closing in on PRO status but then they jump on me for not taking rides. Is there any way to get around this problem? Thanks, Ed
im confused in canad only eats shows you amount and distance uber only shows distance and time to pickup location
Sergio, how much does a rider's star rating affect your decision to take a trip or not? Thanks, brother.
@@misterliquidcitybrother u need to watch that bc as much as u may complain about it legitimately u may also get deactivated then no more Ubers
I had the same offer once, 3 times, the price dropped each time.
Airport rides now suck bad in ATL.
Way more than i make here in Roc NY. When the added $13 is there...they short you of milage money.
I can only see my drive time and not the fare amount. Does anyone know why?
In my area it seems as if nobody ever tips and I don't get offers more than $5 or maybe 7.00 20 mi rides 23 for hour and change rides
I dont see the destination, pay, or location when trips pop up. Is this something I need to set up in the app??
I'm still confused I wish they would have went in more detail So I'm wondering what I should accept per mile and per minute? How about if both add up to over $1 a mile?
This question is different for every driver. You'll want to consider your operating costs for example. For many drivers $1.00 or more can be a good starting point.
Wish our area had surges, but we're in a small town unfortunately.
How about not getting paid for tolls on your way back from a drop off in New York as a Jersey driver every time I go to the airports $17 Comes out of my pocket and get paid only $22 for the trip for minimum one and a half to 3 1/2 hours driving. I would love a response even better action thank you
These guys nailed it.
Why my app doesn’t shoe distance and pay
You may not have upfront pay in your market. Instead, your fares are calculated on the actual time and distance driven.
In Colorado we don't know the price upfront.....why>?
Upfront pricing is not in all markets just yet. Keep an eye out for communication in the app.
@@Therideshareguy okay that still doesn't help
Consider yourself lucky. With upfront earnings they are stealing even more from drivers.
@@joedriver2588 How exactly is that lucky?
Thanks for the info, guys. Very helpful analysis
I dont see that info when trips pop up???
Your market may not have UFP just yet.
@@Therideshareguy Thank you
How do record these ride requests. I can only take quick screen shots. Thanks
He's probably doing screen record. It's built in on your phone.
What's trip radar?.
@Sergio-SMTMC....Thank you.
If it not over 20 dollars I’m not doing it also maybe 10 minutes to pick up
Am I the only one that doesn't see "included" fairs on surges? I literally see now additional dollar amount
so on a 19$ fare, driver only makes 6$??
So add a “surge” and lower the regular pay for the ride. Makes the driver feel like they are making so much money.
Do you get hit with non acceptance twice if you refuse the same trip twice?
That’s great with high surges. But what about those of us that drive in areas that have 0 surges?!? I live in SoCal but 40 miles east of LA. Do I need to go to LA to drive?
It’s not worth driving then. No surge no driving
$27 for a 26 min. ride?! Here, in Atlanta, I would get just over $10. I would need to drive close to and hour, to get $27.
Its really disgusting out here and I fear it can get worse
It seems you live in a hot area for surges and you’re splitting hairs here. We can all do the same math. I drive all LA and don’t see consecutive surges like you do. Yes Uber is screwing us and we still have the option to drive or not. Why you still driving?
Til the up arrow is the pickup lol..God damn it
I wish we had upfront fares
Then you wish you didn't see it
I can send screen shots
I might try your technique and ignore my acceptance rate and cancelation rate once I get the $475 diamond bonus uber is offering me here in AZ.
Only thing is I heard if you get to low on acceptance or cancelation. Uber will do you from the app. That true?
@Sergio-SMTMC Thanks for the info on CR. Would have been cool to meet ya while I was in Cali. This last week.
@Sergio-SMTMC will do bud.
Man, in my area 15 dlls gets you a 13 mi 30 min trip
I mute those damn sounds all the time when I drive. So annoying.
NY doesn't give you the destination, just the pick up disappointing
Ok the 19.33 ride had a rating of 4.76 how of rider rating should you take
Never seen offers like that. Ever.
Sometimes they give rides that it doesn’t make no sense
Drove in Houston area today, rates so low these days. I used to get $45 to drive downtown about 35 miles today its down to $18
what works for you and where u r may not work for others
Why is he taking the $13 out? He’s getting that too, right?
Segio help uber now takes the surge away my uber show 7 surge and l haves pin and the rider cancer then my surge dropped to 2.50 that never happened before was going on someone splashing please 🙏
Sergio I have a big question , I know the reason you and the other guy do these videos but the big question is what do you think UBER or Lyft think about your videos?
What glitch are you talking about??
What glitch are you talking about??
@Sergio-SMTMC what is your feedback on getting a rental car to be specific a TESLA ? I am putting way too many miles on my 2021 car, please let me know. Thank you!!
@Sergio-SMTMC I start M-F from 6 am thru 3:30, Uber pay better when you drive a Tesla or is the same as any sedan??
@Sergio-SMTMC thank you for your prompt response, I totally appreciated it
Hi
San diego uber driver price so bad
Sergio I want to let you know that I don’t drive more then 3 miles for pick up and I don’t do less then $10 per trip no matter what but I have to let you know that UBER is giving me so much Time out like I was a bad kid in school they hate so much cause o don’t pick trips at less then $10
why are you getti8ng these rides but not excepting arnt these people that needs rides that your playing around with just letting rides come up and not even taking them
$13 surges Uber is winning, Lyft doesn’t pay nowhere near that 😢
The new UBER anti-cherry picking , in my area now if you do not accept at least 50% of ride offers you lose the ability to see upfront details.
We’re you gonna do some test trying to become an 🐜 and take every trip and see how much you make?😂
I think I’m better of renting car an squizing every juice out of it that way you don’t mind putting miles on your car
Don't pick up minors at schools.
This is one reason I stopped driving at 7 am due to all the kids who missed the bus. It was getting out of hand.
Anybody who is writing the algorithms need to go back to Maths classes or they skulled it in school 🧠
It's no matter what you do it's no way to make money only Uber making money They installing money for the driver
Anyways, it takes too long for you to earn your ranking
TURN OFF UBER/LYFT APP ON DEC 13
Why is that?
Never.
who cares how he drives or picks his rides to each his or her own
