that fucking hammer man theme... also, for the kirby one. as repetitive as the song is, i kinda have to give the singer props for remaining so into it. he puts his heart and souls into it. he knew this song sucked ass, but damn it all, he's gonna try to make up for the shitty lyrics with gusto and vigor, like the witches from hocus pocus. the movie sucked, but the witches were captivating as fuck.
That 4Kids American Anthem shit cringed me out when I first saw it on TV and it's still just as cringey today. It just encapsulates how much they wanted to make everything American, even when it didn't make sense.
as someone who IS a fan of metal music, I agree that Mr. Pickles theme is awful. It's just a load of DUHDUHDUHDUHDUHDUHDUHDUHDUH with no memorable riffs or guitar playing or anything. It sounds like a tumble dryer full of cutlery.
The problem with the fucking Tokyo Mew Mew theme (and yes it was changed to Mew Mew Power) is that it really does focus on love way too much. It says "it's hard to save the world when you're falling in love" Ya wanna know just how ironic that is? Her fucking crush right? Yeah? He's basically the main villain of the show and her love s a v e s him. So yes, it's VERY easy to save the world when you're falling in love, cause that's how you saved the fucking world. Do 4kids even watch the shows they dub? Or do they just look at stills and assume "yeah the character is probably saying this, whatever"
Indeed so. This entire premise is built on the power of love. Had Aoyama (the crush) not realized her identity and come to his senses (cause he loves her) he would've blown the world up in spectacular alien invasion fashion. This plotline isn't even shoehorned in late. I think we're talking one third to one half into the show this plot point becomes relevant. But everything with that show was just dead awful. Even if it's not a great show by any means, for what it is it's cute. But they seemed to misunderstand every character in similar fashion. Like it's like in the sub they actually had kind of personalities - as much as your magical girl tropes will allow for, but in the dub they're basically reduced to tired stereotypes. It's painful to even think about lol
That's for sure. 4Kids should've stopped trying to butcher things with serious stories and just stuck to their strengths. They were good at being campy and cartoony. Purely silly things like Ultimate Muscle and Fighting Foodons is where they shined. But they kept dipping their feet where they shouldn't have and doing the kinds of series that it seemed like they didn't really want to do. It feels like they wanted to be a cartoon company rather than a localization company, really.

Metal outside of death, black and other kinds of extreme metal are great. Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Dragonforce, Dio (especially Dio) are all awesome and not about primal rage at all.
Putting Diamond and Pearl's theme above many of the songs here... feels like such a blatant over exaggeration. It's like... not even that bad at all. If anything I'd say it's mediocre at worst. Mediocrity shouldn't be considered worse than just plain bad. And that problem with rap? I feel like that starts to become an issue with personal taste rather than an actual problem, because the rap isn't even that bad. Seems like you are just sick of hearing rap in animation openings. Plus the issues with the lyrics are honestly really nitpicky. I feel like a lot of this list is actually agreeable... but Diamond and Pearl being considered WORSE than everything we've seen before... I didn't even watch a lot of Diamond and Pearl and even I can say that is such a blatant over exaggeration. Bland and/or mediocre is not the same as horrible.

Sebastian Quiroz I personally find it to be only ok. The singing is not very good and the lyrics are a bit repetitive. That said, when it goes purely instrumental for that 5-10 seconds, it is really good, until the singing starts again. So overall, it's ok.

Seriously, repetition is not the devil. It's an important part of song structure, and a good part of why certain songs are so catchy. Also, it's kinda hypocritical of him to be pointing out repetition as a flaw when a good chunk of his videos involve repeating the same criticisms over and over again.
I've never particularly cared for the 4Kids Kirby theme, or even the 4Kids dub (I'll shorten my rant I've given many a time to two things: inaccurate voice cast and majorly cut plot), but that's also because when I first discovered that a Kirby cartoon/anime existed, I immediately found a fansub of the original Japanese; I didn't even think about an American version, and I was ecstatic when I found out there was one, but after seeing the original, it fell short of my expectations. But, I also am one of those 'Subs rule, dubs drool' type people for most things, because for most things I've chosen to watch subs first, but there are lots of shows I've originally watched in dub that I can't stand to watch in sub anymore, like the original Pokemon and Naruto. In short, it's all subjective; that's why even though I disagree with some of Mr. Enter's thoughts, I love watching his reviews. :3 (And, as a music nerd, yes, repetition is good and commonly used in musical structure, but it should be used in moderation, not for a song as a whole, really. The Right Back at Ya theme, as much as I dislike it, is catchy, well instrumented, and well sung, but, personally, the original first theme matches the cutesy nature of the show and it's intended demographic more. :3 Sorry I wrote a book, I'll leave now :3 )

that fucking hammer man theme... also, for the kirby one. as repetitive as the song is, i kinda have to give the singer props for remaining so into it. he puts his heart and souls into it. he knew this song sucked ass, but damn it all, he's gonna try to make up for the shitty lyrics with gusto and vigor, like the witches from hocus pocus. the movie sucked, but the witches were captivating as fuck.

Indeed so. This entire premise is built on the power of love. Had Aoyama (the crush) not realized her identity and come to his senses (cause he loves her) he would've blown the world up in spectacular alien invasion fashion.
This plotline isn't even shoehorned in late. I think we're talking one third to one half into the show this plot point becomes relevant. But everything with that show was just dead awful. Even if it's not a great show by any means, for what it is it's cute. But they seemed to misunderstand every character in similar fashion.
Like it's like in the sub they actually had kind of personalities - as much as your magical girl tropes will allow for, but in the dub they're basically reduced to tired stereotypes. It's painful to even think about lol
That's for sure. 4Kids should've stopped trying to butcher things with serious stories and just stuck to their strengths. They were good at being campy and cartoony. Purely silly things like Ultimate Muscle and Fighting Foodons is where they shined.
But they kept dipping their feet where they shouldn't have and doing the kinds of series that it seemed like they didn't really want to do.
It feels like they wanted to be a cartoon company rather than a localization company, really.

Putting Diamond and Pearl's theme above many of the songs here... feels like such a blatant over exaggeration. It's like... not even that bad at all. If anything I'd say it's mediocre at worst. Mediocrity shouldn't be considered worse than just plain bad. And that problem with rap? I feel like that starts to become an issue with personal taste rather than an actual problem, because the rap isn't even that bad. Seems like you are just sick of hearing rap in animation openings. Plus the issues with the lyrics are honestly really nitpicky. I feel like a lot of this list is actually agreeable... but Diamond and Pearl being considered WORSE than everything we've seen before... I didn't even watch a lot of Diamond and Pearl and even I can say that is such a blatant over exaggeration. Bland and/or mediocre is not the same as horrible.

Seriously, repetition is not the devil. It's an important part of song structure, and a good part of why certain songs are so catchy.
Also, it's kinda hypocritical of him to be pointing out repetition as a flaw when a good chunk of his videos involve repeating the same criticisms over and over again.
First, "good music" is subjective.
Second, do you realize that making songs and video reviews is somewhat different?
His point wasn't just it being repetitive, he was complaining that it pretty much just consists of the main characters name.

2. I like the Kirby theme song too, but I don't get mad at him for hating a theme song I like.
I've never particularly cared for the 4Kids Kirby theme, or even the 4Kids dub (I'll shorten my rant I've given many a time to two things: inaccurate voice cast and majorly cut plot), but that's also because when I first discovered that a Kirby cartoon/anime existed, I immediately found a fansub of the original Japanese; I didn't even think about an American version, and I was ecstatic when I found out there was one, but after seeing the original, it fell short of my expectations.
But, I also am one of those 'Subs rule, dubs drool' type people for most things, because for most things I've chosen to watch subs first, but there are lots of shows I've originally watched in dub that I can't stand to watch in sub anymore, like the original Pokemon and Naruto.
In short, it's all subjective; that's why even though I disagree with some of Mr. Enter's thoughts, I love watching his reviews. :3
(And, as a music nerd, yes, repetition is good and commonly used in musical structure, but it should be used in moderation, not for a song as a whole, really. The Right Back at Ya theme, as much as I dislike it, is catchy, well instrumented, and well sung, but, personally, the original first theme matches the cutesy nature of the show and it's intended demographic more. :3 Sorry I wrote a book, I'll leave now :3 )

Honestly even Sonic X had a good theme in my mind. And while 4Kids One Piece is still absolute garbage in my mind with the censorship and terrible voice acting i'll always enjoy the theme song.
