    There are no titles in Mexico. The original sales invoice is the ownership document for the vehicle. When you sell it you sign off your rights to the car on the back to the next person.

    • @EyeMWing
      @EyeMWing ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Yeah. It's a pretty standard process to convert various foreign ownership documents to a US title. You'll usually need an appointment at the DMV with a specialist, and you'll basically just need the original foreign ownership document, the customs and EPA documentation, and if the language isn't one that DMV knows, a translation of the documents from a third party. Probably also a VIN inspection, which given this car's shady VIN, might be a spicy time, or they might just take Custom's word for it, stamp out a shiny new VIN tag for you and rivet it onto the firewall.

    • @mexicanspec
      @mexicanspec ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I have a 1974 Chrysler Dart Sedan that has the same "missing" VIN from the dash. It has the Mexico Federal silver sticker inside the door frame with the VIN which is a T and 5 numbers. I bet this guy didn't look inside the door frame for said sticker.@@EyeMWing

      When people buy cars from me I make sure everything is in order before the car makes it to the border. The last thing you want to do is to not know something they ask you. I streamline the process.@@EyeMWing

      You just need to be sure you go to Control Vehicular and told them the car is now yours or of another person because os stuff like tickets.

    • @mexicanspec
      @mexicanspec ปีที่แล้ว

      IN a lot of states the seller gets the baja and has to pay all back fees and tickets at that time. Sometimes the plates stay with the vehicle and the seller takes the responsibility of paying that because he bought it at a lower price.@@Ms666slayer

    The road from Monterrey to Nuevo Laredo is one of the most dangerous. Also Nuevo Laredo has always been one of the most violent cities. If you want to buy a mexican car, i think Baja California is the best option near the border or buy it in the central area and ship it.

    I don't know when he did this (if he said I missed it) but these days make sure that if you're going to a country where you don't speak the language you have a mobile phone with Google Translate on it and data roaming. This allows you to convert any signs you see by pointing the camera at them or have realtime conversations with people.

    Hoo boy, does this bring back memories. In the mid 80's my now ex-wife and I drove across Mexico. Our vehicle entry permit was a mimeograph (look it up kids) copy of a 1977 blue Ford Grenada. We were in a 1974 VW Super Beatle. And we had to pay bribes from start to finish. Sure we were sorta young and unknowing. And there were bribes and then there were BRIBES. The guys in tailored suits with shoes that cost a lot more than our vehicle, with bulges under their arms. I never even considered lying to them and sometimes I didn't have to bribe them, because they asked how much I paid their minions. I told them the exact truth, and then something happened, so that I didn't need to pay more? Love the country, love the people, not so fond of their government. And this is sorta reminding me of our system at this time.

    I thought this was going to be another Chris story, given the show on Netflix…
    I think I’d go to Japan to buy a car before trying to buy one from Mexico - and I live in CA where they haul 3 junk trucks using a 4th junk truck, and drive them across the boarder.
    Also was waiting for him to say when he got back to SC, he opened the rear hatch and under the floor where the spare would be was just packed with drugs.
    Also also, my dad had a wagon like that. It completely rusted out the floorboards within 5 years from new in the early 80’s. I guess somehow that one survived in Mexico! (ours had manual windows and no AC as well)

  • @mexicanspec
    @mexicanspec ปีที่แล้ว +4

    It is not difficult to cross a car if you are prepared. You do not try to cross a vehicle with mechanical problems. All of the hoses and such should have been repaired before you got to the line. Also the military is there to protect you. You should be glad they were there. Also Also, you went into a no go zone where Los Zetas control the area. Other border crossings are no so intense. I will not go into that area for all the money in the US.

    The Raptor R is an amazing truck, and I want one, but I think Hoovie went into owning the Lightning all wrong and that is why he had such a bad experience. I own a Lightning and haven't really had any of the problems Hoovie had. I bought the extended range vs. Hoovies standard range, I have Fords 240v 80A L2 charger vs. Hoovies 120v 20A wall outlet charger, I precondition the battery in the winter with the App vs. Hoovie jumping into it ice cold and expecting to tow. 1year 14K miles with not one issue in ownership of the truck. The public charging infrastructure needs work for sure but I have only used that a handful of times in the year of ownership so for the occasional use it's really a non-issue 99% of charging is at home so I don't even need to spend the 5min filling up gas, I spend 30s plugging in and when I come back to the truck it's fully charged.

      Try crossing into Canada with .22 shells on your floor board from a recent ground squirrel hunt and a hunting knife that tests positive for weed 'cause yer brother used it to seperate the stems and the seeds....

    As someone who is Border Patrol, it’s NOT border patrol. That’s CUSTOMS because it’s a port of entry, BP covers the border with NO PORTS of entry. Hence patrolling the border not the port of entry. Lol this bothers me so much when people say that 😂
