- Trina Lavery (Sarah Lancashire) returns home to Stoke after 20 years, to look after her ill mother. Trina learns that Bernard Cleve (Lorcan Cranitch) is also living in Stoke. Bernard was accused of killing Trinas best friend many years ago but was never convicted. Another girl is killed and Bernard is again a suspect. Trina thinks he is innocent but places herself in danger in trying to prove it.
Stunning acting from Sarah Lancashire never fails
No matter what she’s in she does a superb realistic job,one of our best actresses in Britain!!!
I go round looking for Sarah dramas that I missed out on. I finished rose and Maloney last night. It’s in here if you haven’t had that pleasure
@@merylsmadness I watched Rose & Maloney a few years ago. I absolutely loved it. Great stuff. Great cast.
She's one of my favorites.
@@julieanderson100 me too. I’ve downloaded clocking off on the tv as she is in one episode. I did watch them all back in the day.
I loved the green tea and coke for a good day with tea and green beans and coke and beans and tea with ❤😂❤🎉😢😅
British dramas are the best in the world. We need more like this....
A Chinese friend of mine in Athens says the same thing. She thinks the BBC is first class.
a small acting pool, but know their craft
I agree and wish the many BBC plays I watched decades ago were available on DVD.
@@voulafisentzidis8830 Ma'am I noticed your first name, if you don't mind my saying when I lived in Athens, I lived for many years in the southern suburb of Voula, are you too from Greece?.
@@maudeboggins9834 thanks for asking. I was born in Cyprus but grew up in New Zealand.
I had forgotten about this one.
Heart wrenching story and wonderful acting .British drama at its best !!
You are so right !
Never seen this .
Sarah Lancashire is one class act absolutely brilliant loved it
Sarah Lancashire... brilliant actress. Glad to have found this. Many thanks
I know right. I saw Last Tango In Halifax and Happy Valley and she just rocked. She's like Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore, Cate Blanchett, and Rooney Mara in the sense she can "Morph" into characters.
Incredibly good. I’ve been looking at this for at least a year, but never watched it until today. So, glad I finally found the time.
Brilliant cast - good story - the Brits know what they are doing...... love from OZ 🇦🇺💕
Unfortunately seems all we do now is reality tv. Most of the good stuff is re runs of pre 2010 productions shown on the higher channels. ITV and BBC are very dry from a new production point in 2023
You Aussies make some remarcable films as well.
Absolutely amazing actress and plays a fantastic role every time .
The best dramas are ALWAYS from UK Sarah is as always fantastic 👌
Thank you so much for this wonderful drama,I couldn't leave my chair the whole time,so absorbing!British is best!
Great to find this and thank you. Sarah Lancashire is always so good in who ever she plays
I absolutely love Sarah Lancashire, she's brilliant. Great story with lots of twists. I really enjoyed it thank you.
I'm SO in love with her as an actress -ANYTHING she's in I want to see. PLUS... She deserves an Oscar JUST for being HERSELF, as stupid as it sounds!!!
it doesn't sounds crazy
Never seen this film before, only watched it all in the middle of the night, really good film, didn’t expect that ending
Absolutely brilliant just brilliant thank you so much for your time and patience downloading this this wonderful drama you are a star ⭐️ I have passed this over to my daughter and Aunt they will love it wow thank you 😊
Can't wait to watch Sarah is an amazing actress, wish she would make more , love Rose and moleny.
That was brilliant
Wow! This is a brilliant thriller! It had me hooked from the outset & guessing til the end; production & cast is pure perfection.
Nice to watch a drama from Stoke, à place I lived for 10 years or so and what great acting with an unexpected twist, kept me guessing, thanks uploader
Sarah Lancashire is brilliant in everything she acts in.....love her.
Thanks a million, Sarah Lancashire fantastic as usual! Thoroughly enjoyed. this.
Sarah and Larkin are both brilliant actors. Only the Brits make such good dramas. Thank you for posting. Cheers from the Cayman Islands.
Thank you so much for downloading this it was brilliant 😍
Absolutely brilliant thank you so much X
Love a good, gritty, unglossed British drama, they do it so well!
I watch everything Sarah is in her and Brenda blethyn our great actresses
Great show. Thanks for the upload.
Vaguely remember this on tv but couldn't remember who did it. Thanks for posting. Memories of pre smoking ban in pubs too.
Hi do you know who did it? I couldn't work it out
Me neither. Who did it?
@@heartscontent This was how I see it....Her father killed the first girl and Bernard the 2nd....BUT, because it was Andrew (the boy) who had his sperm DNA over Shannon (hence Bernard's test came up clear), Bernard told him that no one would believe he didn't do it.
Thank you so much. I have to rewatch it to take it all in. Great story. Great acting.
Great movie, great cast and as always Sarah played a great role you’re brilliant.❤❤❤
She is a brilliant actress plays all her parts very well whatever drama she is in .
I know
I'm sooo I know love with this woman! She is an incredible actress 🎉❤
Shes amazing what ever she does 👏👏👏👏👏
thanks for the upload. Very gripping drama.
Wow Sarah Lancaster you really are an amazing actress thankyou
Lancashire
Thanks for sharing , recommended watch .
I llove Sarah Lancashire she s a wonderful actress and very pretty and natural way about her
From Kentucky here Brits are best in every thing they do.i hope to visit there someday and THANKS for the upload. Good movie and is this movie like anyways to young to die??
I can see the similarities between trina & Catherine from happy valley. Her no nonsense relationship with the law. Its impossible to stereo type Sarah Lancashire. My favourite has always been Raquel in corrie back in 90s, french lessons with Ken!!
Britain produce the finest, real, gritty,
accomplished actors ever ⭐⭐⭐
Yes❤😂, the French with ken! That was pure TV gold.
What a brilliant film. I was gripped all the way through.
Boy was this a heart pounding movie! Some small bits were hard to understand what they said. I got what happened the 1st time round but not sure what Andrew was saying and if they got it right with the DNA etc. Do you have any clue I might be missing?
@@ellamone9998 I know right. Just when you think you have it figured out, something comes from Left Field that stuns you!
Ain't this a blip! Sarah Lancashire & Eva Pope were bitter adversaries on Coronation Street and now do a Miniseries Together. If there was one thing I've noticed about UK Dramas is that the Action either takes place in a Pub or a Coffeehouse. That's so cool.
Yeah working class spend most of their time there that is why .like community hub
@@dilekavan5796Thanks for the clarification 😊
Yeah, the UK has like 50k pubs. It's our thing, we love our pubs & our booze
@@dilekavan5796Remember on The Second Episode of Dallas, Sue Ellen insulted Pam about being part of the Working Class.
Love you Sarah Lancashire. Watched you in Happy valley. May we see more of you in the future. Love from new zealand
Absolutely fantastic..1st time viewing of this magnificent film for me..brilliant..Jxx ⚘🌻🌺👑🇬🇧💜🥀💐
Everyone talks about American actresses but none beat the British sarah lancashire julie Graham leslie sharp kathy Tyson etc unbelievable acting out of this world
Thank you!
The complexity of it all had me intrigued until the end. John McArdle was at the handsomest point in his career especially when he was dancing with his mother-in-law, a small relief from the bizarreness.
Was Roy the Killer then?
Brilliant and great twist at the very end.
Excellent!!
I think Sarah Lancashire is one Fine Actress.
So much is about Emma Thomson, Helen Mirren, another Dame, all amazing!
But Sarah Lancashire now middle aged as the others are, I have not seen her as much.
So don’t know her Work now.
Here and in The Cry and Rose and Maloney, she is an incredible Force of inner strength!!!
Not saying the above mentioned are not good actresses. Sarah lancashires name should be up there with theirs maby her face doesnt quite fit withe the lovies
@@oliverkitkat6860 Her work in Happy Valley is superlative.
Id say she was better. Honestly. Its always the rich Southerners who get opportunities.. Sure they are good, but they always seem to just feel the same
Have you watched Happy Valley? Three wonderful series of the same story.
Does anyone else Think that Roy /Trinas husband / Looks like the Detective in charge of the case ??? LOL UK Rocker XXX
yes like brothers
@@valerieanncummings776 Yeah X
Yep me, I was a bit confused to begin with. 😃
Yes!!
Yes, a bit confusing.
Brilliant,thank you.
Sarah Lancashire . As soon as I saw the name I clicked . And this is the kind of Drama that the British do best .
Terrific--TY
Got a DVT, so bored silly, spent the last week on a Sarah Lancashire back log of programmes!
This was excellent!
What a great actress
The end left me with my jaw dropped on the floor....bloody hell. Very good, exciting thriller with of course the finest of actors. I don't remember now if it is based on real events....I hope not. What a tragic, sad story. It's quite long; I think it might have been a series?
So, I am still not sure. Is it her Dad who committed the first crime and then Bernard who did the second and was finally taken in?
@@Geewhizzy Exactly!!
They did a very good job making it unclear until the last part...
Bernard killed the first girl, got in jail for it, did his time (or was he let go because he was unjustly sentenced? I see a lot of these kinda series, f.i. "Innocent" with Lee Ingleby, also a compelling story! So I forgot...sorry) and had no choice than to go back to his old town and workingplace. He kept claiming though, that he never killed that first girl.
But he was a man, that had a thing for very young girls.
The tragedy, of course, is that Bernard never hurt the girls he fell for, secretely. He just likes to watch them.
But the second girl made him snap, and he later explains why. (I could even relate to his thoughts, and I'm a woman. Very well acted.) There were mentionings of an overly heavy parfume-like scent at the first murderscene. They never could find out what brand exactly or it was so widely purchaged that they couldn't link it to one person.
So in the end, per saldo, Sarah Lancashire is bummed out, because she really believed Bernard and now she still didn't know who killed her childhood girlfriend. Of course, the viewer already noticed, that Sarahs mom is an alcoholic and overall not a very pleasant person. I personally wondered: why? Sarah is quite a sweetheart, how did her mom become such an old moody stinker?
In the end the answer is (probably): because she might have suspected or even known, what her husband was up to.
So yes. A double clue, so to speak. Bernard did kill girl 2 but not girl 1. Sarahs dad killed girl 1. And Bernard got blamed...
The idea, that my father abused and killed my best friend...unimaginable.
Some folks have to go through things...that shouldn't be there at the first place.
Sorry for my ramblings, but I just now discovered, that I have a list with comments on my comments...🤣and going through them. So I have to go back in time quite a bit.
@@Geewhizzy I am welland truly confused. I thought that Bernard was acquitted because his DNA didn^t match. How can he suddenly be the killer of the second girl?
They don't make them like this anymore... excellent..💯🤟✌️📽️🎥
OMG! I wasnt expecting to end like this 😱😯😧
Will someone please explain this ending? I'm lost. 😏
Excellent movie!!!
If Sarah's in it, I'm watching it.
A great mystery and the twist at the end.
People should no the facts before accusing someone first and the police the just want to pin it on just anyone so they can have there bloody promotion and so many people go to prison for something they haven’t even done 😡
It seemed that way
It's also sad to think the guy that got put in prison who was innocent? Got screwed up in the mind, even worse, while in there.... placing even more blame on Trina's father to begin with! Was this a fictional story?
This is messed up - Raquel should be abroad doing the modeling - Billy Corkhill should be with Sheila Grant - and Bella should supervising the chip frying at the motorway cafe
Yes I was thinking the same thing 😂
Great film great acting hated the ending 😢.
Anyone else spot Divina McCall as a young WPC early on in this fabulous Drama. What year was this produced?
Also wouldn't the Female Cop have Gloves on her Hands when she did the inspection
As a forensic science student I gasped and tutted at that scene 😂
@@Over_and_under_side_by_sideOkay so it wasn't just me. The UK can do some ferocious Crime Stories and Dramas. I was stunned to discover that many of the Actors from Garden Of Shadows (The Prequel To Flowers In The Attic were British).
Half hour in pure lock down gold not seen out like this sinse J. R. UEINIG
Wow, so many twists and turns; I was really surprised by the ending .Really well acted by everyone, although I did have problems understanding Andrew-Got the gist though and it was more authentic, as a13 year old in those circumstances, would assumedly be just like that
I was wishing this was in English! Lol and for subtitles, but sometimes not even subtitles help. Lol

it *is* in English 😊 ...

10 min in and this is so depressing!!!
Great movie! 👍
Sarah Lancashire has the most watchable face.
The best drama I have watched in a long time. I became a bit confused, Sarah's dad killed her friend and Bernard killed Shanon? Great cast and excellent story. Thanks for uploading, much appreciated

Amazed at the number of people who watched this and had to ask who killed whom. Duh.
🤣
😅😅 Well, it is confusing.
😂lol x I thought the same
American shows are more explicit whereas English directors tend to trust their audiences with their subtle endings.
...well who did?
Freaking awesome
I know I'm being thick but I'm full of a cold and fell asleep for a few minutes, who did it, I was confused at the end ?
Great mini-series but shame about the overly loud and dramatic music though.
What was the significance of the aftershave did Bernard do it I’m confused
Her father did it!
@@cameronclan3850 her father killed his best friend what about shanon? Bernard did it?
@@masoumehnayebaziz1630 Andrew, the 13-year-old boy, said that he didn't want to kiss Shannon that day. She was hand-rping him so much that it almost hurt. Bernard was watching and Shannon loved making Bernard angry and sexually jealous. Bernard killed Shannon.
Not one person spoke in a true accent to The Potteries. It spoilt it for me as I am from the area.
Get a grip
Yeah I know
I get what u r saying because actors are always mangling the New York accent! And British actors usually do a terrible American accent.
@obeahpantie no they don't. Many British actors are mistaken for being American all the time, they're that good at perfecting it. I don't know which ones you've been seeing but most British actors are trained in doing accents early on
Who did the second murder?
I certainly wouldn’t be in the pub if my child died
I wouldn't be either Eva but each to their own way of coping at such an awful time
👍🏻🌹🌹
Many people go to the pub if their child dies. Never heard of "drowning your sorrows" most would just wanna get numb
Brill ,I thought Bernard was not guilty but had witnessed what happened
Actually who was the murderer...her husband?
@@carolelocklin5512 I’m trying to figure it out! Bernard only witnessed the first murder, but actually murdered Shannon? Am I getting this right? Why would her husband still keep an after shave/cologne that would link him to a murder long passed? I really want to understand.
Her father had been the murderer I thought 💭
@@jennifergriggs2613 I might have to watch it again. 🤷🏻♀️
@@evaabe2840 I not sure it was Bernard? LOL
Nice, Eva Pope is in it too. The thing is, I'm not sure if I've seen this or not, I've seen so many
English dramas are the best.
What a twist!
Marvin gaye... NO tammy terrel.... Great music happy memories.
Yes, she died 50 Years ago this Year. Everyone wanted her to replace Diana Ross in The Supremes. She apparently was battered by her Exes David Ruffin The Temptations who sang Lead on My Girl and James Brown. They both had their career ruined at one point, and ended up in prison. Marvin Gaye loved her and she was his favorite Singing Partner. She died in his arms and I think it traumatized him more than he realized.
Please someone tell me the name of the song at 19:00.
Where's Curly 🤔😁✌️
This is just too confusing. Everybody whispering and I can’t make out what they’re saying or what they’re intimidating is going on or the relationship is to each other. So I’m going to find some other movie 🎥 that I’ll be able to enjoy watching or I may just read a good book 📕 instead. 😅😅😅😅
Can anyone tell me what the significance of the aftershave, that she found in her mums bathroom cabinet.
Blue bird; it was the same brand that the killer used years ago so she realized that her dad killed her best friend. That’s why Bernard told her to let it go. He didn’t want to tell her to break her heart.
@@cassandrayork8660 Ty for explaining. Appreciated.
Is a fantastic actress! I wonder if she is still alive?
Yes and going from strength to strength
Good plot twist! Did Trina's mum know do you think?
Must have why she did kept the bottle. She should have reported her dad.
Filmed in Stoke-on-Trent, eh? So, it was glamour all the way, then.....................
I was gripped too.... all the way. But I had trouble understanding some of it- especially Bernard. I didn't get it at the end. Who did it? Is it the same person who committed both murders? Help me out here....
Trine's dad did it. There's a photo of him with Trine (Sarah Lancashire), & her friend who was murdered, in her mums house. She must have been sleeping with him too. The aftershave, Blue Savannah, in the medicine cupboard at the end, her dad's from years before, was the same as the one the killer wore.
Andrew, the 13-year-old boy, said that he didn't want to kiss Shannon that day. She was hand-rping him so much that it almost hurt. Bernard was watching and Shannon loved making Bernard angry and sexually jealous. Bernard killed Shannon.
@@myoldvhstapes So Shannon knew Bernard was watching? Eeeek. Okay - that makes sense. What about the older murder of Sarah's teenage friend? Did Bernard do that as well?
@@angelapetrie2418 Okay! Yes! How awful. That's what Bernard meant by saying to Sarah some people would be irreparably hurt by the truth. Oh thank you. I thought that was it when she hit on the old after shave.....
@@Christine-dg1rc: Yeah, quite a nasty explanation! As for the historic murder, Angela Petrie explains that one in her above comment.
