I come from Derby and I love it - well... loved it. Derby seemed to be a city that had it all. This is not just nostalgia taking over. I’ve lived in many places across the UK, I’ve got a lot to compare it with. All cities change, move with the times etc etc etc etc - but Derby had most of the soul ripped out of it. Sadly it still has something left - which is there to remind you of what it once was. Thanks for the films 👍👍

I just happen on to Derby when my husband had business nearby in 2019. Still a nice town to visit. My husband says I go to the UK for the charity shops, but I really liked the museum. Had planned a trip in 2020 but I’ll be back as soon as they let me back in the country.

Derby really had character and style. The modern pics are pretty depressing fare.

My time in Derby was 1953 till 1997 when I left UK. The best time to live in Derby was mid 60s to mid 70s

Geez you was there at the right time, post 2008 has especially not been kind to Derby, and the UK for that matter, in 2023 it's a real hole, it looks like a third world dumping ground. Last time I was in the centre I felt a foreigner in my own city as a younger man that grew up in the 90's and 2000's there. It's full of weirdos and scruffy folk, there's no cohesion between groups, just people existing in a void of their own, discount stores are the specialism of the centre, where BHS has been an empty building for a decade. It's a depressing city now, I no longer live there and while I may visit again some day, I'll never live there again. My family has been there for generations, centuries in fact.

I moved away from Derby 5 years ago and it's the best thing I ever did for my family. Absolute shit hole now! My family had been in Derby for 90 years and had to move because of how bad it was. Unfortunately, the times gone-by of the good times are long gone and is now replaced with spice-heads and a corrupt Council with little else on the agenda other than to line their own pockets for their families.😢

How much better it was "then" than "now!" I think we need to put all town planners in the stocks.

It happened Nationwide .They ruined Britain in the 60s by demolishing beautiful buildings and replacing them with concrete monstrosities.

I agree 100%.. How could they have allowed that THING in the historic Market Place that is supposed to be a fountain but resembles a gents urinal?

More memories Andy, many thanks, as I have said before Derby was Derby then, now well it's indescribable, they pulled the heart out of Derby when it became a City and it will never be the same

That’s why I laughed when the constructed “Pride Park”
The pride has gone like you said just a ghost town now and I’ve lived here all my 46 years 80-1999 was best especially the night life

Well I suppose it is looking at a ghost, it was once a nice town, had character and a long standing community, it's now just a third world dumping ground and a poor nothing city.
