Does anyone else dread playing in 1NT?
1NT hands can be so hard to play because, with the strength so balanced between the partnerships, it is often unclear which suits to develop and which to avoid.
Graeme joins us to help us practice the thinking that we need to exercise at each step.
Our first question: what can we learn from the opening lead? What does West's ♥7 tell us? What we can guess about the heart distribution from the lead will help us decide what to play next.
Step by step, we can find our way through 1NT hands. Don't be scared to give away the lead - when it comes back to you, it might come back with interest.

Not sure why this came up in my YT feed, but it’s always good to listen to Bajir ask Graeme how to play

In real life mixed club play I would lead a heart at trick 2. West may be stupid enough to go up with the ace (40% chance at my club!), and you make east discard a card, maybe that fourth spade! Assuming west is sensible enough to play low east can never lead through your hearts to expose you. The hand has disappeared from my screen but the only downside seems to be losing transport.between the hands.

Are you playing against junior robots? Why didn't West double?

If it's ACOL you need 16 HCP to double 1NT.
