I too love his fragrances. I also enjoy his „Girl of Now“ for Elie Saab 😃
DR and Quentin Bisch seem to be the noses behind most of my favourite fragrances, something I only discovered last year x
These perfumes are not only liked they are loved by many people they are exquisite 😀
Exuberant is the word that comes to my mind when I think of Ropion's perfumes.
Don’t forget Flowerbomb, La Vie Es Belle, Lancome Jasmine Marzipan, Ellie Saab Girl of Now, several Tresor... he is a King!! 👑

I adore Dominique Ropion's work in perfumery as well! He's especially good at white floral perfumes.
I own Amarige, Pure Poison and Armani Code and I love them. I used to own Carnal Flower too, but I find that fragrance too mentholated and I'm not mad on the eucalyptus note in it.
The connection in Kenzo is simple 🤓 this perfume crashes you down like the elephants leg 🤣 it’s sooo big and potent 👌🏻 the name couldn’t be more accurate 👏🏻

My first Dominique Love was Amor Amor (red bottle). Grew up on Amarige was one of mother favs, Jungle L'Elephant was another fav of mine in highschool sadly ots discontinued😢

Jungle elephant is NOT discontinued, it is available everywhere. However, it's been reformulated in 2011
@@jonyu3597 oh, I have search for it high and low in Botswana and South Africa and haven't been able to find it so I assumed it was discontinued.
@@AfriScents is that so? I hope you can find it online on some international sites. It's pretty popular here in eastern europe, but i've seen it in north american, australian, and some african collections. I think Angel Lately likes it.
@@jonyu3597 yep Angel has had in her collection before, shipping internationally into my country is crazy expensive, I long gave up on getting a bottle of it... thanks anyways

Totally agree! I ended up noticing that I love Dominque Ropion after POL.
Same here, the most loved in my collection have the Ropion touch and I love that he's constant in the quality of his art even the most recent releases.
He must be my favorite, too, because most of them on the list I've had before. Plus, my ultimate favorite, Pure Poison, is on that list!❤❤❤ I think I'm going to look up his list on Frageantica to see if I have any more of his work and am just not aware of it.

Love your videos! A guarantee to lift my mood while serving up great info. I must be a fan of DR as well. Started with ysatis and wore Amarige beast mode for years. Actually if have owned and worn all of the above, Alien remaining a favorite go to. I'll have to dive into your fav Carnal Tuberose this spring. Thank you again, you are a real treasure. I do hope DR sees this and contacts you 😘

This is a great idea for a series! I was just commenting that I know a total of two creators, and that's because I met one and the other is talked about all the time. I need to check out more of these scents, Alien is one of my favorite scents of all time!

Alberto Morillas is my guy ! :)) Flower by Kenzo line , Summer by Kenzo, Bvlgari's Omnia + Goldea, Aqua di Gio, Pleasures , CK One, Dark Lord , GUCCI Guilty line , GUCCI Bloom line ... :))) Floral master for the ladies. Dark Lord and Gucci Guilty Absolute are dry heavy leathery woods for men :)
My favourite Dominique Ropion's creation is Promise by Frederic Malle. It's something I never knew my nose needed.

Enjoy your videos - always entertaining and knowledgeable. I LOVED Ysatis and it was my signature scent. Current reformulation leaves a lot to be desired though. Amarige, Dune, original Poison and Safari I still own. For some reason I don't love Portrait and unfortunately I didn't have the chance to smell the original. Cheers from Australia.
I believe he is such an amazing creator of fragrances. He is one of my top creators, besides Natalie Lorson and Francis Kurdijan. Great video as always 🤩🤩
Love this rundown! For me, Euphoria is a scrubber, but I adore his Frederic Malle creations and Kenzo Jungle L'Elephant is soooooo gooood. If I feel chilly, the scent alone helps warm me up.

I looove A Lab on Fire, What We Do In Paris is Secret. Dominique making Heliotrope fragrance made me fell for Heliotrope. Just looove so many from his creations

Great video, thank you! Last year I too realized that Dominique Ropion was and is my absolute favorite perfume artist. Somehow, his perfumes always marked very important periods in my life. When I was a student - Armani Mania and Amor Amor Cacharel, then it was Armani Code, and Alien, in 2020 - Carnal Flower and POAL...CF - IS THE BEST FOR HUMID AND HOT ITALIAN SUMMERS! Oh, God, it’s beautiful!

I enjoy videos and I always ask about collections not by brand but by perfumers. I’m glad I have 4 of his creations and I’m looking at a couple more. I couldn’t cary the Kenzo and sold it.

He must be mine too. only recenty realised have owned approx 15 of his over the years. Early ones Amarige, amor amor, Tresor, Alien, Olympea, linderdit Intense most recent. Definitely sexy, I seem drawn to his style. Also I like a few of his mens. Great video.
My very first two fragrances also my favourite were Burberry London and Armani Code. My workmate is wearing Amarige and Dune, and I love how they smell on her. I never own Euphoria, but I can't help spraying it while testing other perfumes in stores. It beats many expensive ones.
He's one of my most favourite perfumers as well (together with Jacques Cavallier)! He's the nose behind one of my signature scents, Burberry London Women. I know not many people care for it, because it's not expensive, but to me it's absolutely amazing! My bottle is almost 5 years old and I dare say smells and lasts better now than at the beginning. Also I think lasts longer and projects more on me than its 'sister' Pure Poison. ❤️
I used to own the original L'interdit Eau de Toilette from 2019 by him and loved it as well.

I want to try the Jungle Elephant since I love cloves and enjoy SL Arabie (isn't the closest but similar)

Something similar happened to me with Mathilde Bijaoui. I’ve had and loved Myrrh & Tonka for a few years . Then, one day, I was shopping and tried YSL’s Sleek Suede. I loved it and it reminded me in some way of M&T but it didn’t smell the same and it had few common notes then I noticed that both were created by Mathilde Bijaoui. She also did Jasmin Sambac & Marigold another one of my favourites and I recently picked up BDK’s Gris Charnel. Now I will be on the lookout for anything else she does.

Amarige was the first fragrance I chose for myself when I was 16 way back in the day. All these years, I still love it as much. Lot of memories. Safari, I love that one, as well. My mom wore that when it came out in the early ‘90s. Enjoy your reviews so much, Tom.🙂 I hope you’re doing well.

I agree Tom I love and own alot of his scents but I love Ysatis reminds me a little of bal a versailles im not a fan of portrait of a lady it's awful on my skin but I can appreciate it on others!
Have you tried Costume National Supergloss and Floratta My Blue O Boticário?? They're some of his best! And I know what a Rose lover you are, I LOVE Very Irresistible Givenchy. It's a clean green rose with a twist. Like you're in the florists smelling them cutting the stems with other bouquets in the background
Dominique is a stellar creator in my book. I adore many of his older fragrances and am still yet to get fully acquainted with his latest one's but whatever he does, always makes an impact for years and years. And if he gets paid on royalties, he must be a very rich man by now. As his creations will keep you re-buying.
Didn’t know he made Alien. I’m one of those who hates it. I love Portrait of a Lady! Found out recently that he made JLo Live which is the only jlo fragrance I like. I want to smell Jungle L’elephant. Great video.

I have Amarige, just ran out of Armani Code, my mom and I have both had Dune. We bought it as soon as it was released. I’ve heard so much about Portrait Of A Lady, although I’m not a huge fan of Rose, I would love to at least smell it.
It was a big surprise for me to find out Dominique made my favorite perfumes from my early 20s:Amarige and Amor Amor by cacharel, I couldn't tell what it was but they both had the same vibe, they gave me that same happyness despite beeing so different. Ever since then I search perfumes by perfumer and not so much by brand.

I agree with you he is a master perfumer I didn't know some of the perfumes he created. I learned with your video thank you for that! I really love his creations and my other favorite is Oliver Bisch I know I can safely blind buy and fall in love with his creations. Much love !

You're right. D R fragrances are very potent. One or 2 sprays go a long way both in projection and performance. More than that and you risk choking 🙂

Enjoyed your video Tom. While DR's style doesn't fit me (but I appreciate his artistry), I endorse your advice. I think that I owned 3 fragrances by Jean-Claude Ellena before realizing it. Given his long career, I am still discovering. My first purchase of 2021 was Eau de Campagne (Sisley, 1976) which is my eighth frag by JCE. Wonderful!

I recently ordered the Sepia series discovery set from Olfactive Studio and that book came as a gift. (Since you are such a DR fan, you may already have the book.) . Ropion did 3 in that Sepia series, with Duchaufor the other 3.

For me, his best creation was Armani mania, which I ADORE, but it’s discontinued now💔 nothing compares to it.
I also love his Issey Miyake collection, Armani’s Acqua di Gioia, and Lancôme’s Jasmins Marzipane.
I have a love/hate relationship with Soir de Lune. It totally depends on the mood.
I loathe his Victor&Rolf collection though 🤢

I’m at the beginning of the video, so not sure if you’re going to mention it, but he also is the perfumer behind Maison Lancome Jasmins Marzipane. Which is interesting as it is a not-very-sexy, actually very work appropriate soapy Jasmine with a touch of almond base for warmth. I do very much enjoy it, it is my favorite of the line.

He is in my top 3 perfumers . . . When doing a bit of research I realised a lot of my fragrances have the same nose in common, Dominique Ropion is way up there!❤ Carnal flower is just amazing and kick-started my Tuberose addiction
