    Hi Ben!
    I made a friend here in Moscow, Russia, by helping him (pro bono) building racks.
    He has been teaching me how to do all the electrical connections and we discuss design improvments for future racks for his costumers and different aspects of the reptile market here.
    We use a similar rivet technique, everything works as long as there is metal-metal contact and we insolate it correctly.
    cheers mate

      @Lorga GS Sertao, that's awesome! It's always exciting to see how the reptile industry is starting to spread from the United States to the rest of the world, and the effect this will have on the future!

      Yes, the market here is still in its infancy, or another way of saying is that it is a develloping market.
      The snake breeders (Balls, Burmese, Retics, etc) are very few so we need to rely on "imports from Europe. Of course that it is VERY ILLEGAL to import... but it can be done!!
      The "importers" (aka smugglers) take care of that for a small fee (30% of the price of the BP) and it takes a week or so to conclude the delivery from the Hamm or Houten show.
      It's very good business for the German breeders to export the low end morphs to a market that is only consuming classic morphs & combos (stuff that was made 2 decades ago back in the States, like Bumble Bees, Lemon Blasts, Pewters, etc).
      And better business yet for the flipper that sells it 2 or 3 times the cost!!! :P
      But I don't want to be a flipper, as most my friends are (see Reptilium videos), I just want to have my own little private collection of BPs.
      The trip can also be very stressfull for the snakes and there is the risk of exposure to low temperatures (specially now in Winter), mites contamination or URI development.
      I always do quarentine and so far so good.
      Do you know the Snakes and the Fat Man Podcast? Just check episode #31 & #32!!
      I was very happy & surprised by him featuring me.
      cheers mate

      @@lorgagssertao4036 Are ball pythons themselves illegal in Russia or is it the import from Europe? People should not be forced to become "criminals", just because of a nice and harmless hobby. Politicans are disgusting people that only take our money and rights away.

      Hi. Russia has much bigger problems than imported reptiles, btw, it's not legal to import them but...
      it is legal to buy/sell & keep them here, as there are half a dozen reptile stores in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

    What type of router do I need to buy and what bit? New to building a rack however we have the melamine and tape. Going to build a 6 high. I only ordered 8 foot so have to reorder I think but I also want to router down where it sits. Would love to hear your recommendations

    • @BenjaminsExotics
      @BenjaminsExotics  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Robyn Bidwell, For a small project like a rack system any decent quality hand router will work (personally I use a BOSCH Model #PR20EVS). I typically use a 3/4 inch strait router bit, but this does require you to do a few cycles back and fourth to make the appropriate sized grove you need for your rack. Here is a link of the bits I have had the best success with: www.harborfreight.com/carbide-tip-straight-router-bit-set-3-pc-68869.html?cid=paid_google|||68869&gclid=CjwKCAjwtNf6BRAwEiwAkt6UQhaayR-qdkWIaVe8JnA6f_EVXDAqQjeF4KdV3dHKH6JPZWf-gtFZPxoCDZUQAvD_BwE

    Couldn’t you staple the far outside part of the heat tape (clear part with the writing) to the rack?

    • @BenjaminsExotics
      @BenjaminsExotics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @karl kent, Yes you certainly can, but be very careful because if you miss and hit the copper bit of the heat tape you can expect to get shocked if you ever come in contact with the staple. There is also the risk of heat tape failure if the staple damages the heat tape in any significant way.
