This fly caught my eye as I think it will fish very well at this time of the year in Scotland ( coming into winter) and the trout get deeper. Enjoyed watching the tying of the fly. Thank you and best wishes from Scotland.

Stunning fly. I sure wish I had spent more time fly fishing during my year and a half in Iceland. I was all about fishing in the salt back then and there were few fly guides back available. My loss.

Wow basically a way better version my my slumpbuster I use for bull trout in BC. The dubbing loop is a good idea for the shoulders. I’ve always just used normal zonkers and just directly wrap the hide to the shank; it gets the job done. This is awesome. Gonna have to try this

A trick I do for tying conehead flies with rabbit strips is I use a double edge razor to cut it close to my thread. Works very well just don’t get the thread

Why the f*ck does everybody I've ever seen, start by tieing a to long piece of thread on, and then waste time and a snip of it, by clipping it off with the siccors.? I just use a shorter thread, and don't have to do the clipping. I was taught how to do time studies many years ago in school, but it's not rocket science, and should be logic, as I see it.

Sometimes I use hackle pliers to hold the end of the thread to make it easier to start my tie in and allowing me to keep it quite short to avoid trimming. Not everyone ties the same way, just have fun with it.

@@Scarbis93 I've just wondered so long, and this time I ended up expressing it. As if we don't all "waste" tons of time and money fishing instead of buying the ocasional fish and relaxing instead.. :P
