Selling beats online is not the main goal, but the overall goal. I made a few hundred $$$ off selling beats back in 2020/2021 when I first started making beats and posting them on traktrain. But the key point to me selling beats was DAILY consistency and strategizing and focus on building an online music business for myself. It’s amazing getting paid for doing what you love but it takes dedicated work, that’s for sure. Now I make money from in person studio sessions or personal relations with artists, but looking at rebuilding my online music business

The last time I sold a beat was 2016. The whole reason I started making beats was to have something to rap to. Now I think it’s coming full circle for me to consider that my beats are moreso for myself and my vocal timbre than anyone else’s. Sure, with that mindset, I won’t make any money from this; but, I have a distinct sound when you pair my vocals with my beats. That, I think, will get me farther than selling a lease here and there will.
I don’t sell a ton of beats but my last couple months were just like yours lol. Had a good 2 months then ton of plays/downloads but less sales the next month. Good to know it really is a up and down thing
It can be hard to sell beats online! That's why my dayjob is teaching beatmaking lessons as a private music instructor. And I record for local artists in my home studio.
