*Update (6th January 2022): Desktop RTX 3050* is finally a thing in 2022 with an MSRP of *$249,* significantly higher than the already overpriced GTX 1650's *$149* MSRP back in 2019. Rx 6500XT is $199 and comes with 4GB VRAM while RTX 3050 comes with 8GB VRAM.
And yes, I've watched 2kliksphilip's video about the 3050 and 6500XT.
"Probably the RTX 3050 (or whatever it's called) will be in that price range just like the GTX 1650 was back in 2019.
*EDIT 1:* I'm not sure whether the new budget Nvidia card will even have RT or be called 3050 in the first place. That's my speculation though. Also GTX 1650 was the first budget GPU to cost more than what we were used to pay ($149 vs $109 for the GTX 1050). Increasing R&D costs caused the price to rise (alongside an artificial price hike).
However, I don't think that the new Nvidia Card will be a cheap one to buy like the legendary GTX 750ti or Rx 570/580 was.
*EDIT 2:* RTX 3050 is a laptop GPU as of 2021, the desktop version is still a rumor as of 2021."

The basic gist is that each SM (Streaming Multiprocessor) in Turing had two datapaths which can do 16 FP32 operations per clock, and concurrently 16 INT32 operations. What Ampere did was change it so each SM can instead do 32 FP32 ops or 16FP+16INT like turing. Each FP32 data path is now their definition of a CUDA core, which is why ampere has around 2x the CUDA count as turing but almost the same RT core count.
This is just my understanding, but I've been told it's correct by people who know more than me so I think its more or less accurate.

Amazing comparison and a review video. Have my gtx 1660 Ti and wondered how the 3060 ti would compare to it. Exactly as mentioned, most of us are using older cards like me so those comparisons were brilliant. Seeing 1660 super the moments after you talked about price/performance cards made me happy.
It seems 3060Ti is enough for us budget players to play at 1440p with RT. Seems like a worthy upgrade if you are using something older than 1060/1660. Even to them if you have the budget. Sadly I don't get paid in euro's so I think I will wait until next generation of cards, 4000 series will eventually drop the price of 3060 so I can buy it in 2 or 3 years I think.

I watched your other video "Adding value to a crowded market" which was brilliant and led me to try Quake II (NON-RTX). Good game. Others have commented on the comparison of the 970 vs 3060TI but I must comment as well. I have the Sapphire RX 480 Nitro+ OC 8GB edition, which is a mouthful, but it has served me well. It runs 4k60FPS Ultra in the games I play the most like MC, TF2, and a few other titles, but definitely lags behind unless I turn settings down in more modern games. Other reviewers like LTT (Love that channel) haven't impressed me with their reviews or swayed me as much as you have, so good job! I agree with your "outsider low risk" perspective that you feel like you have and I must say that it is a brilliant one that helps the audience feel like they can upgrade to something that will be worth it, since you're using the cards that MANY people still have!
