    As you said, from some parts of Ireland people speak ridiculously fast. I’m from Ireland and I’d even have difficulty understanding some accents from other parts of the country. Where I’m from I don’t think I talk particularly fast, but some speak so fast that if there throat had a set of wings, it would be going fast enough to lift off the ground and fly. And also, it is very uncommon for someone here to speak Irish to the extent that captain did. I think only about 2 percent of people in this country speak it like that

      Interesting!

      I suppose the captain is from some small village or town in the county Cork. I'm from the UK but my wife from county Cork, they speak really fast and certain villagers do speak Irish at home, my wife's parents and grandparents are quite fluent in Irish but unfortunately my wife didn't, as well as her brothers.

    A very fancy cabin on this A321 Neo. I don't notice many differences from a widebody. The seat may be narrower, but legroom looks good.

    Nice trip report! Seems a little surreal with such a long flight to be on a narrow-body :)

      It was fine! I didn't really notice not being on a widebody to be honest!

      narrow body trans atlantic isn't new. The 757 has been doing it for a long time.

      @@morrybo12 depends on the wing. A 737NG, yes. A MAX9, no.

      Not much longer than flights from Dublin to the canary islands. West bound would be slightly longer though,

    How was the customer service on aer lingus. Did you check in a bag. What was the cost. Were they strict with the checked baggage

    • @VisualApproach
      @VisualApproach  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      From my memory it was unremarkable but perfectly fine! I did check a bag but it was included in my Avios ticket. I can't remember about the strictness - sorry!

    That takeoff seemed a bit uncertain, lifting off briefly and coming back to ground before actually going airborne - - - sort of like my takoff from McGuire AFB for Vietnam, in '70 (DC8-63CF).

    • @VisualApproach
      @VisualApproach  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't really notice that!

    • @laurencemeehan251
      @laurencemeehan251 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you watch back again (as I did a few times) - what seems to be a take off prior to the actual take off is caused by the visual effect of adjoining taxiways splitting off away from the runway and other portions of grass coming into view shortly before the actual V1 is called ...it's just a convincing optical illusion 🙂

    Great video! I always find transatlantic flights from the US to Europe quite turbulent, or at least my flights always seem to be turbulent east bound. I can imagine it being even worse on an A321 - did you have any?

    • @VisualApproach
      @VisualApproach  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In all honesty I didn't notice any difference!

  • @blotski
    @blotski 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video. I sometimes read comments from people saying they don't fancy long haul flights on a single aisle plane but I can't see you'd notice the difference. It's all about how much room you have around you. On a two aisle plane you only really have access and use of the aisle you're next to. The other one doesn't really affect you so why does it matter if it's not there? So I was interested in your comments about not actually noticing the difference.

    • @VisualApproach
      @VisualApproach  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly. Once you're sat down there isn't a great deal of difference between this and another aircraft. Obviously the fuselage is narrower and that may affect some people.. but I was fine!

      Ask Aer Lingus. JetBlues A321LRs have no mask either, same with TAP. Its just optional.

    Did you need to clear passport control while transiting in Dublin?

    • @VisualApproach

      Yes :-) This also clears passport control for my arrival back in the UK due to the common travel area.
