      Soot is also heavier than air, it might come out looking like a black cloud and look like it's putting out a lot of pollution, but really it's just ash, unburned fuel that settles back on the ground.

      In actuality, the #EPA has absolutely zero constitutional basis for existing. Nor do roughly 99.99% of any of the other alphabet-soup agencies. Nor does the #EPA have any constitutional authority to legislate. Another fly in the ointment is "Chevron Deference Doctrine."

If the SCOTUS reverses the decades long precedent of "Chevron Deference Doctrine" it may likely clip the wings of many of the alphabet-soup agencies (such as the #EPA) that have unconstitutionally usurped legislative duties.

    What the gov't wants and what the engineers can deliver, are usually two different things. THey said the tech wa not there before 2008, and they have said so since at every stage. And it is the OEM's and dealers that are stuck with the cost of it, and of course, the consumer pays one way or the other. The cost of the parts, labour to install, and engineering costs, are all built in, along with the warranty non-recoverables, and that is not a small amount.

I’m also sure during cold startup until engine gets to operating temps software will tweak some of the stragedy. Mileage, performance and regens no different berween my 2018 & 2022. The 2020-2022 are clear of the recall since the software was on the trucks when leaving the factory. Actaully my 2022 feels stronger down low than my 2018.

    The old IT guy in me would love to see the code in the ECM that could tell when the truck was on the test rack at a smog shop vs when it was out on the open road pulling my trailer on a camping trip. So, a copy of the original ECM load from the factory would help with mileage, longevity, etc., while emitting a little extra NOx. So, saving that "original factory" ECM code (programming) on a tune device and reloading it after dealer/shop/service or recall would make your truck perform the way it did originally (better mileage, longevity, etc.).

    • @mx3727
      @mx3727 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree with the first part, accounting for accident vehicles, scrapped vehicles, etc. But on your second point i disagree.
      See, if a person with a deleted truck goes to the dealer for the recall and the truck is deleted, the dealer will have to advise the customer that all of those parts will need to be reinstalled (and most customers will not have them) before the recall can be performed. There will now be a paper trail tied to that VIN, and if the customer declines the repairs, the government (look at what CA has already done) can just refuse to renew registrations, effectively forcing those customers to either pony up or get rid of the truck (good luck with that).

    • @davidwadlow2262
      @davidwadlow2262 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You have a valid point. I would say that there are a few states that will not go the route as CA and other CARB states. As well as those individuals who own a modded unit know of someone that can assist them and hence not return to the dealer. I have no doubt that with other prosecutions from the EPA on suppliers, they have a rough idea of those numbers of trucks affected by aftermarket mods. EPA and Cummins know that 100% enforcement, although desired, is not remotely possible. Again, this is a great and well presented point to know and consider.
