Songs like this take you to a place of no pain, bills, worries, crime, etc. Just pure happiness!
Enjoy life
❤Amen!! SISTER IT SURE DOES!!!😊😊😊😊
So true 😎
It does! For me, it's because I'm a kid watching my dad place the needle ever so gently on this record.
My dad used to sing this song to my mom Sarah when I was a child. They were together over 40 years before she passed away in June 2016. Everytime I hear this song, I can't help but smile and remember.
Very sweet! great memories are wonderful. So sorry about your mother, im sure she was/is beautiful..God Bless
My condolences queen
@@jennalove6583 aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Beautiful memorial and tribute to your Mother.
That's beautiful!
Still listening to this song in 2024. I was born in 1973 in Laos but landed in the USA in 1980, it is one of the songs I heard and been with since back in the day.
Hey and its still kicking it❤😅
It’s 2023 and this song still gives me chills all over when I hear it. Love this song ❤ who’s with me
November 2023 I'm right here with you ❤️❤️❤️
Reminiscing those good old days ♥️🥰
@@sallypyszczek7836hall's voice made them the sensation they were.
I'm listening now. December 2023
Have you heard the guitar version of Ken Nishimura?
My dad was taking his last breath as this song was playing. Tuesday, December 8, 1998. I will never forget that day. Every time I visit his grave site, I play this song as loud as I can so he can hear it.. Today is Easter Sunday and here I am at his grave site 😢
God bless you man
Sending positive energy your way 💙💙
GOD BLESS YOU... ❤️MAY The LORD JESUS CHRIST BLESS YOU and KEEP YOU and MAKE HIS FACE TO SHINE UPON YOU and GIVE you PEACE. ... Peace and Love from HEAVEN ABOVE 🌈🕊️ in The MIGHTY NAME of JESUS CHRIST... AMEN
Hold ya head
Blessings to you 🙏🏽
It’s so sad that nobody makes music like this anymore
Childish Gambino comes close!
@@rutherfrogp.wilmington4907 Too bad he's like one of the only soulful male voices we've got left. His "Awaken, My Love" album from 2016 was a great tribute to this era and before
Try Jett Rebel
For me that is fortunate because we will always come back to the beautiful era of the 80's!
Very sad, and very true. What happened?
My daughter's name is Sarah, and she loves this song. Thank you for giving her a reason to smile. - A dad's love
Happy Father's Day 💙
It's 2024... who's here listening to this beautiful classic?
Stop
Love all their songs ♥️
Me
Anybody out there who was around when Sarah smile came out way back in the mid seventies. Its been a hell of a lon time. Sarah smile will last until the end of time, it's that good
me!! I was about 14/15 when this came out
I was 10 years old in the 5th grade. Loved it so much even at that young age and still loving it, timeless.
This song was one of the reasons I named ny daughter Sara (had to drop the "h" to make it different from my husband's mother's name though, lol) !! I was in high school when the song came out... Sara was born in 1991 !
I was in college when this came out. Such a fabulous time in my life. Dreamy song.
@josef mengele omg....that's an opinion they're like assholes brother we all got one I know you're not trying to be nasty to another human!!!!... So what's your name so we can make fun of it real quick for you 😉😜😜😜😁
When this song came out, I said this song is for me😊 my Name is Sarah 😊 my friend’s call me Sarah Smile, Stay Safe.
Keep smiling Sarah with beautiful music like this it helps us through we are in New Zealand 😀

Impossible to listen to this song and not be uplifted. Pure joy.
One of the best songs ever
Cindy D'Adamo I totes agree😜
I agree with you, this is a pleasont son i!ve have heard...
LadyLake Music just wanna listen when I want to chill
Yes¡¡¡¡
I see we so agree!
When a song is still as beautiful and relevant 50 years later - you know it’s a classic. Personally, I think this is one of the best songs ever written. The simplicity, Darryl Hall’s voice...beautiful.
Daryl with one "r" is better.
Im listening to this in 2023 I’ve Loved this song for 40 years im 60 yrs young I’ve heard it a million times it never gets old ❤

2022 and I STILL feel the same way I did the FIRST time I ever heard this song! Decade after decade this song NEVER gets old. Calling it a Classic doesn’t quite do it justice. This song is Iconic! As was that cover! 🥰
Truer words were never written.
I wish I actually did feel the same I don’t know if it’s age. Don’t get me wrong this song is awesome I just don’t get that same feeling hell maybe it’s me lol
Me too this song makes me feel so good they definitely don't make music like this anymore
Brings back many memories from the 70’s 😎

Kings of blue eyed soul. I've been diggin' Hall & Oates since Sara Smile in 1976.
My step dad used to play this when he cooked, now I’m 27 married with kids and I play this when I cook.
Dope.
This song goes so much further BACK then THEN!!!! I think I may have been 16 and almost 70 now!!!! And it STILL FEELS like yesterday ❤✌🏾❣
And you are beautiful playing this !!
You are now 30 years old. Do you still cook and listen to this beautiful song?
@@nyawoods4343 Yeah, sometimes. I play a lot of Similar style music when I cook. Otis Reading, Leon Bridges, Temptations, The Sapphires, and more.
One of the best songs ever written and performed. Absolutely wonderful sound
Can't stop listening. 🎵🎶
Still listening. 🎶🎵
It's you and me Sarah. Won't you smile awhile for me. ❤️
👍
Such a super-feel-good song!!!!!
One of the very few good things to come out of Philly 😊
Ouch Eugene !! As a Philadelphian , that stung 😊😊
Hello Eugene, how are you doing today, hope you’re fine and safe from the COVID-19 virus??
What???? Philly had a whole Philly sound? Gamble and Huff, MFSB, First Choice(Dr.Love), Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes featuring Teddy Pendergrast.
This is thee Philly sound. 1970’s epic.!
Feelin lovin and groovin baby
I love this song Sarah Smile. It takes me back to my teenage years. Life was never better than those young years were. At that age I lived in the moment never thinking very far ahead. I wasn't worried about the future at all. Those were very different times. Better times imo. The summers were long and filled with friends, bikes, sun worshipping and the best music ever created. It was a blast. We were young and free as the birds that soared on sweet summer winds. I'm only sorry that it had to end.
It ends for all of us my friend , them are time you can never get back & sometimes you grow away from close friends because you have to live your own lives & grow a family, work & pay bills & you run into people once in a wile at a store or gas station & try to make a time to get back together & just talk but each other’s schedules get in the way , so now the only time you really see each other is at a wedding or a funeral . It’s crazy how time & getting older works , never enough time in the day & busy schedules get in the way . The one & only thing you can hold on to from those times are the memories & all the fun times you & your friends had , happens to the best of us .
So eloquent.
Yes, we were truly free in a way young people now cannot even fathom.
Very well said. The best days of my life♥️
Me too, I think about that all the time, I'm alone now at 56
@@robertsimpson9403 I'm so sorry to hear that you're alone. I moved away from my hometown ten yrs ago and had to leave all my friends and family there. I live with my hubs in his hometown in Virginia. It seems a bit difficult to find true friends whom I can trust these days. When you talked about lives and schedules getting in the way you're so right. It's a very busy world in which we live. Yes at least we have great memories to look back on and enjoy. Blessings to you. ✌️
I was named after this song. It's one of my favorite songs.
very cool. its my wife's name too...such a pretty name.
Sarah Beaston good song and so is the Sarah song by Fleetwoodmac/Stevie Nicks
Sarah Beaston i Love that its only ONE of your favorite songs, since the song could be about you in every scenario possible and is just an outstanding piece of music, but hey, keep on rocking it!
if you were named after this song, your parents messed up. Its Sara Smile not Sarah Smile.
Michael Menges Sara or Sarah, it is correct both ways
Hall & Oates don't get enough credit for how many hits and just good music they've released.
They didn't get nearly enough airplay either. Not to mention ZERO Grammys.
These dudes made some of the best music ever i fucking mean ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Naw see D you had to go there. Ha Ha✌️
Sooo true!
Why can't we get back music like this? It's the emotional connection in music like this that the world so desperately needs.
Too many non-talented so-called artists out there looking to just make quick money.
It’s there you just haven’t been looking
@@DBasedAlex Then please give us some examples to back that up. Thank you
@@rdavid488 SERIOUSLY!!! Is there such a thing as a band anymore? Actual musicians? Singers that write their own songs? And lord don't even get me started on vocalists! What is this autotune bullshit? That may not b the proper word but it's used to make the singers voice sound better. WTF? If ya can't sing then how do these people get contracts? Do u just have to LOOK GOOD these days??? Honestly I haven't heard any great music since the year 2000! Things really started going downhill after the 90s,for me anyway. Oh there's a few artists out there, worthy of the term "artist" these days but few and far between.
@@DBasedAlex yea I didn't c u giving us any examples of all this talent u say is out there that we seem to be oblivious to. Give us some examples of some great musicians, vocalists, etc.
His voice is the sound of a saxophone! Absolutely love it!
LISTEN TO THIS OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND THEN ALL OVER A COUPLE MORE TIMES. LOVE IT!!!
2021 I am still listening to this wonderful song.
This song is entirely too short. Replay. Replay. Replay. Replay. Replay. ❤
Andrea Thomas I couldn't agree more Andrea..
Dude I've said there needs to be more length to this song for yrs
You know what they say, when you’re having fun, time seems to go by fast.
Oh oh ! Well if you know it's too short you know you can go than why don't you go on making U-turns ..
This song is played continously for so long which makes it so long
First time hearing this and man, i wish we had music being made like this now. I love old school hits
One of the greatest love songs you can ever sing to a woman. Everything about this song was absolutely perfection, including Daryl’s voice, which is incredible. These guys define the ‘80s sound with their music. It always brings you back to a good time and place when life was so innocent and simple.
possibly one of the greatest songs ever made
My son danced with mom to this song at the age of 18. He just passed away at 21. #LLM I CRY BUT CONTINUE TO LISTEN BECAUSE EVEN THO HE is u young he had an old soul!
Cherish those great memories. Keep him alive. I lost my firstborn son Eric, when he was 27. He was and is my best friend. He still exists in my heart
My condolences to you and your family. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I'm so sorry for the loss of your son.
I cannot imagine the pain.
Take care.
Sending love ❤
One of my favorite songs of all time. I remember listening to this as a child when my dad played it in the car on one of our drives. More than a decade later and still consider this my top three songs of all time.
I am crying! because this takes me back to my youth and the good times I had with family and friends. I teared up because it made me think of many of my family members and friends that have passed away! I miss them so badly!
My daughter was born last week and I named her Sarah. I didn’t even think of this song during my pregnancy, just remembered how much I love this song!!❤
Now you two have your own theme song LOL Congratulations
Congratulations
GOD BLESS YOU ❤️... and Your family and precious little Sarah 💖... James 1:17 Every Good and EVERY PERFECT GIFT COMETH Down From The FATHER of LIGHTS... AMEN ✨✨✨🕊️✨✨✨🕊️
mashallah
AMEN ✨✨✨
Their ability to lift spirits, even with a melancholy tune. I miss this time, and hope we can return to caring for each other.
Amen!
I wasnt alive back then and i still miss those times
Bringing back real singers like Daryl Hall and banning auto tune is the first step to caring for others, and also using real drumming and guitars - also using no negativity in the lyrics.
My grandpa use to sing this to my aunt Sarah as a kid that’s why I love this song
This song has truly stood the test of time ❤❤
OK So I'm older than dirt....but I'm not dead. These are my kind of sounds, in my soul!
Well said ...songs of the soul....they shaped our psych...it's part of who we've become
@ valori johnsen. Maybe by only a few days nevertheless, your song it moves me...

You Sir have excellent taste
Your age is irrelevant to music. It’s music. You like what you like
It’s impossible not to feel overwhelmed listening to this - esp. if u were around to hear it from it’s’ inception.
Blue turns blue: soulfully! Wow!
I was 6 years old the year this song was released. This song is part of the soundtrack of my life. Timeless CLASSIC. I am happy to say I just turned 48-years-old
Same age. Although I was just a little kid, this song brings back some great memories of childhood.

That's so sweet omg
why
If your dad could sing this song even decently, he was one hell of a vocalist. Amazing range and technique. I'm university, vocally trained and have sung endless artists and styles and would not even attempt this song in public.
This is the song I was named after💗 '77 baby

This song is still such a damn good song and will always be. Memories are trapped in this song and it's like when we hear it those memories are unlocked...music just isn't same..
this was my mom’s favorite song, her name is Sara and I cry every time I hear this song. I just listened to it after over a year. I love this song and hopefully one day it’ll bring me joy instead of sadness. ❤️
This is a classic, hands down. I'm tripping on the album cover though. I don't remember Hall & Oates being into Glam Rock. They didn't need a gimmick. They had pure talent.
Lol, someone went wild with Photoshop!
It was makeup artist Pierre Laroche's idea. He was the dude who did Bowie's makeup and the Rocky Horror stuff.

Simply one of the best songs of all time
I am and still love this song as much as when it first came out!!
It's 2021, and my 19 yr old son had a notice that Hall and Oates is his #1 played group on his Spotify. I played H&O all during his young years and I guess it stuck. 🎶🥂
It definitely does. My music taste is everywhere but the meaningful stuff was definitely my moms influence
This is one of the reasons I'm glad to be a kid from the 70s. This song right here.
