    It helped, and for me, more time in the water helped me better understand the stroke. Each viewing of the video brings more insight.

I am a Masters swimmer and found out that I forgot the second kick although I am ranked highly for 25, this video really helps with drills etc to work on...not having a coach nearby hinders learning the techniques..and your videos really help. I'll get there, currently doing maximum two laps a day monitoring if and how it could injure shoulders. Certainly the most demanding stroke, it can take even 10 laps of other strokes to get tired as doing a butterfly, but if you don't have much time one could simply focus on it to get the daily workout.

    Hi Chloe, I watched your video and tried out your drills today. After just one session I find my fly timing improved tremendously - something which I've been grappling with. I'll continue to work on the drills.
    In my humble opinion, these are what set you videos apart. (1) Simplicity and clarity. In very few words you drive across the most important aspects for each components of the stroke making it easy to understand for lay folks like myself. You go into enough details for serious amateur but not over peppering it with incomprehensible details. As an example, you explained the breathed timing so succinctly that I asked myself why i didn't understand it earlier. In fact, most other videos just speaks about the kick timing and forgets the breath timing altogether. (2) You organise the video in a very meaningful manner building the stroke from the back. In addition, you were properly focused during each section. Back to breath timing, I thought it was amazing how you focused only on the breath timing first, choosing to cover breathing with a low chin during the body position section. (3) Each of your key points are "taught" with a prescriptive drill. All of the drills are very useful. Many of the drills are not new, but you made them purposeful.
    I noticed that you have done such a video for every stroke except Freestyle - though you've made various videos covering various aspects of the stroke. Could you please make one complete video on Freestyle too? I am sure myself, along with many others, will benefit greatly from it.
    Finally, I do hope you get many students and enrollments. :) Once again, thank you very much for all your superb videos.

    Fantastic video, best I've seen. One question: during drills I notice your feet come to the surface on almost every stroke. However, in full-swim they generally stay a few inches under the surface. Should your feet come to the surface?

      @sarangtamirisa5090 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Daniel Nemiroff when you take a breath, body angles a bit and feet sink. When doing drills head down, you're horizontal and legs don't come out.

    Thank you Chloe for this amazingly great tutorial! The best one on youtube for sure! I have a question: I tend to move my hands in an upward motion after entering the water, gliding a little before the catch phase. This comes naturally to me as a consequence of my body ondulation. But the correct technique requires to catch the water as soon as the hands enter the water without the gliding phase, right? What am I doing wrong? Any tips to correct my form? When I try it my overall timing/coordination feels messed up. Thanks!

      Lol no one has to own a pool. You can swim at your local swimming pool. This is not a swimming pool. This is a swimming treadmill and I’m pretty sure you’re not even a swimmer. You can’t learn butterfly without even knowing how to swim freestyle and you’re gonna drown in a 4 foot pool. Plus, you can’t afford this pool. This pool costs approximately 1 million dollars.

    Hi Chloe, thank you for the great video and an awesome channel! I am a former high school/club swimmer looking to get into Masters after college. I have a question about fixing a specific problem with my butterfly: are there any drills for maintaining a consistent second kick during the power diamond on strokes where you are breathing? I notice that on strokes where I am not breathing, that second kick is a lot stronger, whereas when I take a breath that kick is much shallower (or I might be undulating less). I try to compensate for this by not breathing much, but this is a problem in longer races like the 200, and I notice that many world-class butterfliers breathe nearly every stroke to maximize the momentum from the head lunging back in the water. Thank you and keep up the great work!!

    • @ChloeSuttonswim
      @ChloeSuttonswim  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Samantha Martinez hi there! I had a swimmer today with this exact issue. I had her go through the kicking drills in this video trying to feel the consistent rhythm of her kick like a metronome. Then we did no kick fly breathing every other to feel the importance of each kick. At the end, I told her to focus on 2 powerful kicks each stroke where one stroke flows into the next. By the end, she said it was hard, but she would work on building endurance. It will probably be uncomfortable at first, but everything is a cinch when you work at it inch by inch. :) good luck!
