Best technique break-down! I am 41, and I learned the butterfly in the last three months. The first week was hard, but with the fly, it's all about practice.
Congrats. Only children and the most gifted can learn butterfly so quickly. I’m 40, hopefully already there, but it took me 10 years of regular trying 😅
@@northsta thanks 🙏 Very true children can master it quicker but, my kids are 13 and 8 and both can fly however, others in their class still struggle to get the technique right. It's also, something to do whith weather the person can visualize it and apply it correctly. Yes, I am 41 but watching fly breakdown and applying it portion by portion helped me complete the stroke effectively
I have been watching the video for like 10 times, 1(pull), 2(hand pointing down + kick), 3, (up or without breath), 4 (kick again), hope i can get it working within 2 hours. Thanks for the great video :) The tempo is like 1~2, 3,4
I am over 50 years,a woman with 2 grown up children.l started swimming lessons few months ago, Breaststrokes was so easy for me, Breathing of Freestyle is difficult,lm still on freestyle but did Butterfly today and l loved it,it was so so easy,l couldn't believe l could do it and with ease.
I learned a lot from this video. I got the power kick mixed up with the weaker one. It makes more sense that the power kick is for taking the breath and body out of the water.
I tried to follow your video and started butterfly but after doing 6-7 strokes, I am getting tired and stopping right there. Can you suggest what to do? Also, I want to know if the technique shown here is the most right and for beginners or is it for intermediate swimmers?I have problem with arm movement and I find the arm movement you shown in this video difficult to do for more than 5 strokes. Please suggest steps so that I can do butterfly for 50 m at a stretch without getting tired?
For old people........use little ..fins..........but not the hard ones.... and always have to stop..yours hand. ....front of you....the best thing to do is...to count. ..in YOUR head.....when you stop.....for ex : 5 secondes..at each time.....GOOD TRAINING. .I am french trainer instructor 71 years old
A very good explanation on the principles of fly, however, as an official, this swimmer would be disqualified at a USA-S or a YMCA sanctioned meet as the kick shown between 3:26 and 3:40 is an alternating kick.
could you elaborate sir please. I couldn't tell the difference. I had just recently learned the stroke with a lot less effort and more speed. I'm interested sir. Did you mean like the tendency to deviate into something like a flutter kick? Thanks.
If you look closely during the timeframe mentioned, you will see the right foot more above the left, then as you see the kick down, then come back up, you will see the left foot on top.
And just for clarity. From the USA swimming rulebook Kick - All up and down movements of the legs and feet must be simultaneous. The posi- tion of the legs or the feet need not be on the same level, but they shall not alternate in rela- tion to each other. A scissors or breaststroke kicking movement is not permitted.
@@husamayyoub6522 i practice 3 times a week, plus always go back to youtube videos and notes from reddit. I just got the dolphin kicks down. Now all i need is to coordinate the hands

Excellent video on the butterfly stroke. 👏😊
The way water is pulled in this video is distinctive as well as the distinction between a big kick and a small kick

Thank you, the best video, very well explained. I was looking for a video like this, detailing the whole stroke course and you did it very well!
