My List 10. Whats The Difference 9. Gin And Juice 8. Hail Mary 7. The Way I Am 6. Muder Was The Case 5. Its On 4. Lifes A Bitch 3. It Was A Good Day 2. This Dj 1. Nuthin But A G Thang & Big Poppa
Some of this songs are not from the 90's, but life's a bitch is awesome. A.Z.'s verse was awesome, he is way better than almost all of the rappers on this list.
No Today Was A Good Day by Ice Cube? No My Mind's Playin' Tricks On Me by The Geto Boys? How do you think of 90s rap without those two songs? I even think Summertime by Fresh Prince and DMX's Ruff Ryder's Anthem got overlooked.
Tupac has better songs than California love , people rate it so high because he collared with drew that's it. Where's Hail Mary, Dear Mama Or Ghetto Gospel
+zion thiem Not good enough lyrics?? To grow up in a bad neighborhood and have a hard time fitting in the society isn't good enough? Damn, you have high standards, or you just does not like the song that much...
@svenvdv2880 94 had Illmatic, Biggies Ready to Die, OutKast Southernplayalysticadillacmuisk, Above the Rim soundtrack, Warren Gs G Funk Era, Jeru the Damaja The Sun Rises in the East, Craig Mack Project Funk the world, Common Resurrection, 2Pacs Group Thuglife Album and Scarface The Diary
@@redrocket604 alot of those albums arent on the same level as the ones I mentioned lets be honest. You’re comparing A tier albums to S+ tier. Cool how you respond tho even tho your comment was 9 years old lol
@@svenvdv2880 LOL Nas Illmatic and Biggies Ready to Die both alone are far superior than all those 1995 albums put together, which makes 94 better than 95.
Shook Ones Pt. II should've been #1, it redefined the game, and N.Y State of Mind should've been top 5 coming from the best rap album of all time. There should've at least been an honorable mention for Eminem's My Name Is.
1. Shook Ones Part II - Mobb Deep 2. C.R.E.A.M - Wu-Tang-Clan 3. Real Motherfuccing G's - Eazy-E 4. NY State Of Mind - Nas 5. Bad Boys For life - P.Diddy 6. Sound Of Da Police - KRS One 7. Twinz - Big Pun ft. Fat Joe 8. In Da Club - 50 Cent 9. I Got 5 On It - Luniz 10. Deep Cover - Dr.Dre ft. Snoop Dogg 11. Appetite For Destruction - N.W.A 12. Got Your Money - ODB 14. X - Xzibitz 15. Mama Said Knock You Out - LL COOL J 16. I Used To Love H.E.R - Common 17. Jump Around - House Of Pain 18. Jump - Kriss Kross 19. Gangster's Paradise - Coolio 20. Back To Cali' - Notorious B.I.G
Not even an honorable mention for Eminem- My Name Is? That surprised me as it was his debut onto the mainstream that changed hip hop forever. I understand it came in the very late 90's but still, the song changed the way rap was heard.
Hypnotize is a better single I suppose, but yeah I think Juicy was the better song, remember Watchmojo usually makes their videos from the mainstream perspective.
No, I like Juicy more than Hypnotize, however, I don't feel that either of them are Biggie's best songs. I get why Hypnotize is on this list, watchmojo takes into account popularity, commercial success, awards, etc. but as a song, it's not Biggie's best. And it's definitely NOT the 2nd best Hip Hop song of the 90s. Not even close, in my opinion.
***** its not that hard to decide that Eminem is a whiny ass bitch who is only popular because he is white. just imagine that bitch voice coming out of a black dude. he would get laughed off the stage
Some personal favorites I would have liked to see in here too: Busta Rhymes - Woo Hah (got you all in check) Wu-Tang Clan - Protect Ya Neck Jay-Z - Hard Knock Life or Big Pimpin Mase - Feel so Good Bone Thugs 'n Harmony - First of the Month Eminem feat. Dr Dre - Quilty Conscience ODB - Brooklyn Zoo
***** Multiple songs can fit in that spot. Dead Homiez, Jackin' Beats, It's a Man's World, The Nigga You Love to Hate. Good Day is just far more mainstream.
HaVVoC your logic is, because it was in gta and is nostalgic it should be on the list. cube had better songs, like why we thugs gangsta rap made me do it. his americakkks most wanted had great songs.
1: Tupac - California Love 2: Wu-Tang Clan - C.R.E.A.M. 3: Dr. Dre - Nothin But A G Thing 4: Notorious B.I.G. - Hypnotise 5: A Tribe Called Quest - Can I Kick It 6: Mobb Deep - Shook Ones Pt 2 7: Nas - NY State Of Mind 8: Coolio - Gangsta's Paradise 9: Beastie Boys - So What'cha Want 10: Ice Cube - Today Was A Good Day
Tha Crossroads -Bone Thugs N Harmony They Reminisce Over You -Pete Rock & CL Smooth SouthernPlayalisticcadillacmusik -Outkast No Time -Lil' Kim f/Puff Daddy Electric Relaxation -A Tribe Called Quest Today Was A Good Day -Ice Cube
Well you guys forgot to mention these good rap artists: Ice Cube, Geto Boys, Pete Rock CL Smooth, MF Doom, Mos Def, Group Home, Common, Outkast, Binary Star, Pharacyde, Big L, UGK, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Blackstar, Digable Planets, Cypress Hill, Dilated Peoples, KRS-One, Devin The Dude, and Das Efx.
They chose songs based on lyrical content, Production, record sales, and cultural impacts and California had pretty good rhymes, it was Dr. Dre produced, and it's 2pac's highest selling and most popular song. Plus it had a huge cultural impact as it is still played on radios and in lots of movies.
A couple of honorouble mentions from my side about the '90's. In no particular order. It was by far hiphop's prime! 2pac- Changes Kool g Rap - Real life (soul assasins 2) Eminem & Royce the 5'9'' - Bad meets evil (slim shady lp) Mobb Deep - Survival of the fittest Busta Rhymes - Fire it up Ras Kass, Dr. Dre - Ghetto Fabolous. Fat Joe & Big Pun - Deep cover Jadakiss - Kiss of death Eminem - The way i am Coolio - I'll see u when u get there Xzibit - Paparazzi & What u see is what u get Wutang Clan - Reunited Black Twang - Kick Off Nas - I can J-Flexx - Lady Heroin. Eminem - Rock Bottom The Fugees - Ready or Not Pharcyde - Passing me by Sean Price - Rising to the top Canibus ft, Rakim - Ill buss 'em you'll punish 'em Nappy Roots ft. Groove Chambers - Don't Stop Styles P - Good times Dilated Peoples - Worst come to worst Notorious B.i.g - Everyday struggle Ill Bill - The anatomy of a School shooting DMX - Who we be & Party Up D-12 - Shit on you LL Cool J - Ill Bomb Gangstarr - Skills Nas ft Lauren Hill - If i ruled the world

This biggest issue I see in this list is WatchMojo's inclination to choose popular songs versus songs that are actually great that represent the genre to the fullest. Rebecca seems like a nice person, but she doesn't speak like she has any idea what Hip-Hop really is. I have no issue with 2Pac being on this list, but I DO have a problem with California Love being the song chosen to represent him. I would've opted for Dear Mama, Me Against The World, or Only God Can Judge Me. The same goes for Biggie. I would've picked Juicy, Who Shot Ya, or Suicidal Thoughts for him. Common's I Used To Love H.E.R. is an obvious choice. C.R.E.A.M., N.Y. State of Mind, Mass Appeal, and Shook One's Part II, I have no problem with. They Reminisce Over You is an obvious choice, and frankly, I'm floored that it wasn't even recognized. Putting Nuthin' But A G Thang on here over greater, and more significant west coast tracks like No Vaseline or It Was A Good Day is an embarrassment. Seriously, that shouldn't have been #1. Look, we all like Gin & Juice, but is anyone really calling it a top 10 track from the 90s? Scenario works for me. It's not my favorite Tribe song, but it's a great one. This list felt very safe. It felt like WatchMojo really just tried to cover a few of the most commercial "classic" Hip-Hop tracks here, because no one working there has a greater understanding of the genre. Some of the genre's finest were omitted: DJ Shadow, Company Flow, Aceyalone, Onyx, Freestyle Fellowship, Boot Camp Clik, MF DOOM, Kool Keith, Slum Village, Binary Star, Scarface/Geto Boys, Hieroglyphics, Masta Ace, Kool G Rap, OutKast, Ras Kass, Redman, The Roots, Black Star, Ultramagnetic MC's, Blackalicious, ect. I get that this is more than ten, but Hip-Hop is more than commercial singles, WatchMojo. My #1 song of the 90s is either "Changeling," by DJ Shadow, "Human Language," by Aceyalone, "The World Is Yours," by Nas, or "The Fire In Which You Burn," by Company Flow.
Typically they rank them in media success and popularity not the actual quality of the music. For instance, if they were to do a list about the top 10 songs of the 2000's (Not hip hop, like in the upcoming video) do you really think there would be any other genre apart from pop on there? Commercial success, not quality. Don't get too upset.
You probably overheard the word POPULARITY at the very beginning of the vid. Did you really expect Slum Village to be on here? As you put it, this list is safe and still people bitch to no end, what do you think would've happened if they picked lesser-known tracks? This is a solid list.
I can't fully agree with that. Watchmojo is supposed to make a mix of acclaim, success and influence which are more objective criteria than "quality". Anyway, Nuthin' but a G-Thang would not be in my top 10 or even 100 favorite hip-hop songs of the 90s, but that's still one of the most acclaimed ones : it was in the source top 100 hip-hop singles of all time, it's Pitchfork's 3rd song of the decade and one of the few rap songs in Rolling Stone top 500 songs of all time. So it my favorite ? No, but it is an embarassement ? Far from it. If they made the list all based on success, Coolio would be top 3 and Gang Starr would not appear. The parts I would agree with is that Hypnotize is not the best Biggie choice, It was a Good Day should make the list and TROY should have an honorable mention. I like I Used to love H.E.R. but no top 10 for me, and I won't join the 2Pac debate because he seems to be the most overrated artist of the 90s to me. I don't think many on your list would have a song that deserve to be in a top 10 of the decade in a fairly objective point of view. I'll skip DJ Shadow because while Building Steam With a Grain of Salt is my 5th favorite song of all time, abstract hip-hop is no rap. I'll also skip the less interesting ones you probably just added to make your list longer (Redman ? Seriously ?) Also the ones that would deserve more to be in another decade, mainly Outkast and DOOM, as Watchmojo in this kind of features never puts an artist in 2 different decades. I think you over estimate the influence of a lot of bands in your list, even considering that success is not something to be considered at all We then are left with some great artists which are very influential, Kool Keith, Company Flow, Black Star, The Roots... I love them but I see them as albums artists, I would not pick a stand out track from them. Well I would : Blue Flowers, The Next Movement, Respiration... but I still think it's the album as a whole that really made an impact. I'd rather see say, '93 til Infinity by the Souls of Mischief, lesser album, greater track (or Runnin' by the Pharcyde, though there I would say the album is quite great too). And anyway, the list isn't perfect (but would any list be), but I think they made a decent enough job in here, considering the criteria they explain at the beginning.
So happy I saw Gang Starr on here. Guru was one of the most underrated rappers even though his skill of slaying a mic while sounding so calm helped influenced a lot of rap that we know today. RIP
Most people that hate Hip Hop are just extremely ignorant. Honestly, I would hate Hip Hop too if all I heard was the bullshit out in the mainstream today. But I've talked to so many people that have told me they hated Hip Hop, and after we talked, they either started to enjoy it, or they, at the very least, respected it. There are so many artists out there that are really, really talented. Trust me. Hip Hop is a beautiful genre. And by the way, I am a music fan. I love almost every genre of music. I listen to everything. Yes, Black Star is in my TH-cam name, but it's only because I happened to be making a TH-cam account while I was listening to Black Star, and I was struggling to come up with a good name. So this is coming from somebody that loves music, not only Hip Hop.
Great list, for Gang Starr I personally prefer Work, Moment of Truth or Above the Clouds. I'm sad that Mos Def's Mathematics or Ms Fat Booty isn't an honorable mention. Anyways hope The Pharcyde get a mention on your list for the rap music of 2000+
Actually I came here with an open mind to see what fans of rap consider to be the highest quality in the genre. If I'm honest, there aren't many songs on this list I particularly enjoy, but I can at least appriciate the skill that goes in to the delivery of the lyrics themselves.
The Nightmare Rider I appreciate this comment. But let me just say, Hip Hop gets a bad wrap (no pun intended) because of the absolute garbage that is today's mainstream Hip Hop. And while these songs are considered to be the "highest quality in the genre" by a lot of people, I don't consider them to be the highest quality in this genre. There are a lot more lyrically talented emcees out there than these ones from the 90s. And they aren't in the mainstream.
Geto Boys - Mind playing tricks on me, could have made the list along with Bones - Crossroad, but there so many great songs from the 90's. Go back and get those classic albums people
I know big L is so underrated on these lists, like if your 20 already doing songs with biggie and 2pac and leading songs with Jay-z camron herb mcgruff grand daddy IU
Triumph by Wu Tang should be on here. 6 minute song that features all 9 members. Never before has a 6 minute song with 9 rappers made it to radio. Also Breakadawn by De La Soul is def.
really thought we woulda seen Ice Cube's Today Was A Good Day
Yeah i think top 25 would be better. I think one of ice cubes best is the nigga ya love to hate.

Gshit nobody talks about Big L's influence with Gangsta Rap and Life of da Poor and Dangerous
N.Y State Of Mind should be wayyyyy higher on this list. Shook Ones (Part II) too. And btw California Love is not even on 2pac's top 5 best sons, so i don't know why it's always on your lists ...

right!!!
Big L was the man, but his career was cut short to not get the popularity

Shook ones pt 2 is the best song of the 90s and top 5 songs ever
james sterling yup
My favorite song
Hell yes dad
Omg yes finally some other people that love that song I’ll sit and listen to prodigy and Havok and be memorized the lyrics are just amazing
Those dislikes are shook ones
verry verry hard list to make 90 were the golden years for rap music
Why is Nas at 7!!!???
the world is yours should be at least top 3
Erik Valdovinos fk right.
Because they named the only 10 songs they know in a random order
because this is about songs that DEFINED the 90's, not the best. It's like when you think of 90's hip hop, what do you think
missed ice cube's "it was a good day"
90's rap is the best compaired to the shit that is on the radio theses days. I dont even like rap that much but 90's rap is something i love
My List
10. Whats The Difference
9. Gin And Juice
8. Hail Mary
7. The Way I Am
6. Muder Was The Case

4. Lifes A Bitch
3. It Was A Good Day
2. This Dj
1. Nuthin But A G Thang & Big Poppa
+Eazy E What about your song Real Compton City G's?
Some of this songs are not from the 90's, but life's a bitch is awesome. A.Z.'s verse was awesome, he is way better than almost all of the rappers on this list.
+Eazy E Other than the fact that The Way I Am came out in 2000 so you'd have to pick somethin off the SSLP that's a pretty good list
What's up Eric us hip hop fans still got love for the godfather of gangsta rap R.I.P
Where's Hail Mary, Dear Mama Or Ghetto Gospel
im with you bro
all eyez on me,ghetto gospel,
hail mary, changes, dear mama,i get around just to name a feq

Thank you WatchMojo for recognizing Gangstarr. He is really an underdog with great music.
He? Gang Starr is an MC/producer duo
Guru isn't considered an underdog in any true hip hop community.
Guru is so underrated...
Sounded like a black Jesse Pinkman
i'm VERY suprised that you guys not even gave ice cube's "it was a good day" a honorable mention :O
"Today was a good day" not even a hm? fucking serious?
Matas Cebatorius right!!
Right! i was just sat there thinking okay tf is good day and mutherfukkin gs

gangsters paradise should have made the top 10, IMO.
I know, it deserves to be in a top 5
No but good song, not good enough lyrics
+zion thiem Not good enough lyrics?? To grow up in a bad neighborhood and have a hard time fitting in the society isn't good enough? Damn, you have high standards, or you just does not like the song that much...
+༼ʘ̚ل͜ʘ̚༽ Totto Holm To be honest it is kinda weak compared to some rap songs.
+zion thiem Still a very important song. And it has way better lyrics than nothin but a g thang for sure

I was born after PAC and e died but still wish they where still here and listen to them everyday R.I.P.
1994 was without a doubt the best year ever for Hip-Hop!!
Bro 95 had the infamous, cuban linx, liquid swords, me against the world, lifestylez ov da poor and dangerous and more
It was the best year for so much of popular culture when you dig; it's insane!
N.Y. State of Mind probably should've been higher.
I 100% agree
I thought one mic was better.
anything on illmatic tops this list
harmany08 true that.
Christopher Jhagroo One mic was in the 21st century
Shook Ones Pt. II should've been #1, it redefined the game, and N.Y State of Mind should've been top 5 coming from the best rap album of all time. There should've at least been an honorable mention for Eminem's My Name Is.
1. Shook Ones Part II - Mobb Deep
2. C.R.E.A.M - Wu-Tang-Clan
3. Real Motherfuccing G's - Eazy-E
4. NY State Of Mind - Nas
5. Bad Boys For life - P.Diddy
6. Sound Of Da Police - KRS One
7. Twinz - Big Pun ft. Fat Joe
8. In Da Club - 50 Cent
9. I Got 5 On It - Luniz
10. Deep Cover - Dr.Dre ft. Snoop Dogg
11. Appetite For Destruction - N.W.A
12. Got Your Money - ODB

I like you put LL and E!
*Real muthaphucking G's
who is 2pac for you?
I like how you at least mentioned Common way to underrated
Very east coast and in da club isn't 90s
Not even an honorable mention for Eminem- My Name Is? That surprised me as it was his debut onto the mainstream that changed hip hop forever. I understand it came in the very late 90's but still, the song changed the way rap was heard.
it hardly changed hip hop forever
*****
lmao are you serious
***** what lol

+S. Sanchez snoop doggy dogg and dr dre is at the door
Ready to make an entrance,
Juicy should have been #1 and it wasn't even included in the list. It was definitely better than Hypnotize imo.
For Nas I would have chose "It ain't hard to tell". Iconic song.
I wouldve chose one mic
I would have chose Ether. One Mic is great also.
TheJRo5e those songs were not in the 90's
***** definately agree with the world is yours by nas. still listen that track even to this very day
I stand corrected
Bone Thugs - Crossroads, nowhere to be found?
Foreal
It's a good song
yea, this top 10 sucks!
Btnh still together through tha weather anyone betta
mjbaybgurl nope
Ok if you didnt think Eminem was to be in the top 10. He should have at least been in the honorable mentions.
I might be the only person that likes Juicy more than Hypnotize
You're not the only one
Hypnotize is a better single I suppose, but yeah I think Juicy was the better song, remember Watchmojo usually makes their videos from the mainstream perspective.
No, I like Juicy more than Hypnotize, however, I don't feel that either of them are Biggie's best songs. I get why Hypnotize is on this list, watchmojo takes into account popularity, commercial success, awards, etc. but as a song, it's not Biggie's best. And it's definitely NOT the 2nd best Hip Hop song of the 90s. Not even close, in my opinion.
na, all real Biggie fans know Juicy is his definitive track. Frankly, I'm surprised Hypnotize made this list over Juicy or even Big Poppa.
Same
Eminem in this list of gods? Hell no.
The god of rap is eminem, he should be the whole list
Reece Retallack ha no. hahaha
***** its not that hard to decide that Eminem is a whiny ass bitch who is only popular because he is white. just imagine that bitch voice coming out of a black dude. he would get laughed off the stage
Reece Retallack eminem is the shit stain on the genre
no lil Wayne is the rap god
back when rap was real
Some personal favorites I would have liked to see in here too:
Busta Rhymes - Woo Hah (got you all in check)
Wu-Tang Clan - Protect Ya Neck
Jay-Z - Hard Knock Life or Big Pimpin
Mase - Feel so Good
Bone Thugs 'n Harmony - First of the Month
Eminem feat. Dr Dre - Quilty Conscience
ODB - Brooklyn Zoo
I feel like your the only one in the comment section who has good taste
Lol quilty conscience! It was about quilts .
Yes odb was fye and Brooklyn zoo no doubt one of his best songs
Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang for the win! Hands down the best rap song ever created! No other songs even come close to this! Dem San Andreas memories too!
Visions by Wu-tang clan
i like shook ones and ny state of mind better but that is a classic
Where's Ice Cube- Today was a Good Day? (another GTA classic!)
It's not even the best song that Cube put out.
But it's great imo, + the memories, sweet sweet nostalgy from GTA:SA.
Grapes Wonder I mean gud song.
1: Tupac - California Love
2: Wu-Tang Clan - C.R.E.A.M.
3: Dr. Dre - Nothin But A G Thing
4: Notorious B.I.G. - Hypnotise
5: A Tribe Called Quest - Can I Kick It
6: Mobb Deep - Shook Ones Pt 2
7: Nas - NY State Of Mind
8: Coolio - Gangsta's Paradise
9: Beastie Boys - So What'cha Want
10: Ice Cube - Today Was A Good Day
Tha Crossroads -Bone Thugs N Harmony
They Reminisce Over You -Pete Rock & CL Smooth
SouthernPlayalisticcadillacmusik -Outkast
No Time -Lil' Kim f/Puff Daddy
Electric Relaxation -A Tribe Called Quest
Today Was A Good Day -Ice Cube
Bone Thugs N Harmony 🔥
are you fucking kidding me where the fuck is Real muthafuckin G-s by Eazy E
that song is more of an honorable mention compared to them.
it belongs more in a top 20
To me, Regulate shoulda been way higher on this list....
When these songs start playing just makes you feel all good and reminds you that the 90's were freaking great
Shook ones part 2 is one of my favourite songs... ever!!!
Well you guys forgot to mention these good rap artists: Ice Cube, Geto Boys, Pete Rock CL Smooth, MF Doom, Mos Def, Group Home, Common, Outkast, Binary Star, Pharacyde, Big L, UGK, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Blackstar, Digable Planets, Cypress Hill, Dilated Peoples, KRS-One, Devin The Dude, and Das Efx.
God, as i saw Tupac on Numbet 3 i thought you put Eminem on number one
But why always California Love ? He had way better songs.
They chose songs based on lyrical content, Production, record sales, and cultural impacts and California had pretty good rhymes, it was Dr. Dre produced, and it's 2pac's highest selling and most popular song. Plus it had a huge cultural impact as it is still played on radios and in lots of movies.
***** Ambitionz is too dope, I would've gone with that.
I hate emu eminem * payed back vouce
I think mojo doesnt like how eminem offends pple so they hate him and nit put them on
***** No More Pain gotta be one of the best rap songs of all time
I was so glad when I saw scenario on the list
We can all agree this is the best era of hip hop, of all time and forever after.
Ice cube-you know how we do it
should definitely be here super underrated track
i also think flava in ya ear should've been mentioned
Jane Ralston yah Craig Mack was the shit flava in ya ear is one of my personal favorites
exactly and today was a good day should be here and so should rosa parks
What is that? WatchMojo making a quality tier list on hip hop? That's rare but greatly appreciated
How is shook ones only 5, that beat has been freestyled by almost every mc
I think The World Is Yours by Nas is the best hip hop song of the 1990s
***** One of the cachiest songs ever
***** Nostalgia factor hahahah I was born in 1998
***** hahahahahah :) Don't misjudge me, I love Sega hahaha
***** It's a Game Gear game from 1995, Sorta like pinball, but sucks hard
***** Awful, and Sonic Boom as bad or even worse.
wasnt "Ice Ice Baby" & "Cant Touch This" made around this time too? cuz if so then where are they?
Someone at watchmojo knows rap....I'm impressed. Thumbs up

RocketDog 5555 the single came out first in 99
Oh. Interesting. I didn't know that. But it is still too late in the decade to really call it decade defining though
Cant wait for 2010's top 10 would be fake ass panda
2010s is the fake ass period and end of hip hop. only gay radio shit like fucking panda or drake
+Punisher27LP True bro RIP REAL HIPHOP

Chance the rapper
Vic Mensa
Towkio
Joey purp
But the radio plays none of these
This biggest issue I see in this list is WatchMojo's inclination to choose popular songs versus songs that are actually great that represent the genre to the fullest.
Rebecca reads a script
Eziokilla9595 "Midnight in a Perfect World" would have been my pick for DJ Shadow but you pretty much covered all bases better than I could have haha.
Seriously ?)
Also the ones that would deserve more to be in another decade, mainly Outkast and DOOM, as Watchmojo in this kind of features never puts an artist in 2 different decades.
I think you over estimate the influence of a lot of bands in your list, even considering that success is not something to be considered at all
We then are left with some great artists which are very influential, Kool Keith, Company Flow, Black Star, The Roots...
Completely agree with you and i also love almost every genre, from heavy metal, punk rock, 50's rock jazz and so on, but mostly hip hop
Gangsters Paradise is only a honorable mention?? Wtf??
I could have stopped watching at this at #10. The main reason I clicked is to see if Tribe made the list!
Slightly bummed in the clip they didn't show Q or Phife's verses.
93 till infinity is my favourite 90s rap song
Great list, for Gang Starr I personally prefer Work, Moment of Truth or Above the Clouds. I'm sad that Mos Def's Mathematics or Ms Fat Booty isn't an honorable mention. Anyways hope The Pharcyde get a mention on your list for the rap music of 2000+
On their defense though they are not specialized in music even less rap / hip hop but that's ok I still love you WatchMojo.com
If you don't like rap than don't watch this
OK, im outta here
Bye!
Actually I came here with an open mind to see what fans of rap consider to be the highest quality in the genre. If I'm honest, there aren't many songs on this list I particularly enjoy, but I can at least appriciate the skill that goes in to the delivery of the lyrics themselves.
Not a big fan of rap (since most of it is shit) but I watched it anyway, since you know, this is good rap.
Today was a good day by ice cube. Or any of his his other hits in the 90s should have been on this list. At least in the honorable mentions.
This one definitely needs a part two or something, so many songs left out
Shook Ones Pt. 2, that beat though.
It's amazing isn't it! I suggest survival of the fittest also
The illest beats of all time!
ElRealPetChicken havoc produced it . Best producer and one of the best MCs out there
They Reminisce Over You
For real though! Such an underrated, legendary song!!
ArchaeoLogist Yea, Coolio gets a mention but T.R.O.Y. doesn't. nuff said
ArchaeoL๏gist The 2 Guys With The Smoothest Flow Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth
Geto Boys - Mind playing tricks on me, could have made the list along with Bones - Crossroad, but there so many great songs from the 90's. Go back and get those classic albums people
Where's Ice Ice Baby and Insane in the Brain
Stop it mojo, you don't even know jack about the best era of hip hop. Ever heard of Big L?
I know big L is so underrated on these lists, like if your 20 already doing songs with biggie and 2pac and leading songs with Jay-z camron herb mcgruff grand daddy IU
Nobody gave a fuck about Big L when he was alive; that's why you don't see him on these lists.
ladydontekno he was signed to a shitty label. He would sign to jay-z his record but he got killed a week before.
STFU
THIS is good list please shut up
Listen to the lyrics that Nas raps about, and you will see why he is one of the best rappers ever.
Triumph by Wu Tang should be on here. 6 minute song that features all 9 members. Never before has a 6 minute song with 9 rappers made it to radio. Also Breakadawn by De La Soul is def.
Final Frontier by MC Ren was the first EP to ever go platinum. How can you not have that?
