It’s wild to see this video for me. I was born in 1991 but got a radio for Christmas when I was 4. Every time I was in my room playing I would have my radio on and be playing while listening to the local rock station. My favorite channel was 97.1 The Eagle. Then eventually I found 102.1 KDGE The Edge. My first concert was actually “Edgefest 15!” I remember being young and stupid running around there with my friends. We all got so sunburnt and stoned it was ridiculous! Thank god we got stoned because the sunburn HURT without it. Strangely the thing I remember the most was the lead singer of Blue October had to sit on a stool during the performance because he recently had a surgery. Also Flyleaf was AWESOME live!

OK this is definitely very US centric. I am literally the target demographic for this video, and yet I knew less than half of these songs. Admittedly the songs I did know are awesome, but when it comes to bands that came from the indie scene of one particular town or city in the US and spread outward, many of them probably never left the US or if they did they were not very well known.

Well I'm 45 and being British I certainly don't remember 80 percent of this list... (at least back then!) The UK was very much still locked into Britpop/indie (as I was back then!) and if your going by what BBC Radio 1 was playing, it wasn't most of this. (Oasis, Garbage and Republica were definitely there though!) But I'm always enjoying discovering stuff from back then I never really heard at the time.

I like Republica's song 'Ready To Go', but the music video is sensory overload for me (and I usually don't have that problem).

For the record Stone Temple Pilots were never a grunge band, they were a rock band from southern California that formed in the 1980s.

I'm not familiar with Faith No More's "Midlife Crisis". I think they're much more known for "The Perfect Crime"

Free to Decide is a great song, but I would have picked Promises.
But I say this as a person who would have had 10 songs by Garbage on this list.
