    I like the smaller version. Still a large enough knife to feel comfortable in the woods yet seems quite controllable!!! Great job Scabs!!!!

    An 8 inch version would have PERFECT handle to blade ratio.

    • @joshdoddadbod
      @joshdoddadbod ปีที่แล้ว

      The non choil version has a 7.5" blade which means if you include the choil this one does too so pretty close.

    This looks like a very useful blade. I like it better than the larger Puzon knife.

    That would be a tough call. They both performed great. The 7 inch may be a bit easier to use but like the look of that 9 inch bowie.

    Both the 9" & the 7" are nice knives. Though for my purposes the 7" would be more useful, more often.

    • @choirboyzcutleryoutdoors
      @choirboyzcutleryoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thing about the 9 in is it handles like a smaller knife you can do anything with it that you can with the seven but I know exactly what you're saying. It's kind of a rarity in the knife game 🎯

    • @JCOwens-zq6fd
      @JCOwens-zq6fd ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@choirboyzcutleryoutdoors Agreed. I just cant carry something that big around on my person all the time & a 7" i can. Doesnt mean I dont have my big boys though. My SHTF has a 16" blade.

    • @choirboyzcutleryoutdoors
      @choirboyzcutleryoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No no I totally get it man I was just saying this knife is actually a rarity. When it comes to big blades this one doesn't feel like one if that makes sense

    • @JCOwens-zq6fd
      @JCOwens-zq6fd ปีที่แล้ว

      @@choirboyzcutleryoutdoors For sure. I forged distal taper into my big blades so they have proper balance. That is a big problem w/ most modern knives big & small. Back in the day they forged distal taper into even the smaller knives in many cases which im sure you know makes them handle way different.

  • @toddcarr.
    @toddcarr. 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Another good looking knife and the steel is plenty tough for whatever is thrown at it. 9" is about as large as im comfortable with not too heavy to carry around and can still do some fine tasks. This 7" one is definatly a sweet spot for many people though especially with the finger choil on it. The thinner the blade the easier it will go through materials that are thick but you lose that ability to split easier so it's a balancing act when making a large knife. All depends on your use though. Thanks for the great vid Scab and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable

    A most rousing one cause I have been waiting for this one. Already in love with the looks alone. Love it! So stabby, choppy, and slicy! To me the perfect knife is one with an 8 inch cutting edge, but 7 or 9 can work as well depending on the handle and balance. This is one of those that looks like a yeah buddy kind of knife.Brother I can tell ya I would be willing to watch most work tuff gear knives being used for an hour. I just love em and still have not gotten one, it's gonna come BUT the 2 I really want I missed and waiting for the next release of the Atayal or the Lanzeta.This is now added to the list of wants. Thanks Scabo, great demo!

    The 7inch I would get more use out of and could do anything asked of it. My only concern was the way the finger choil was done with the way the steel comes down in front of the handle but didn't seem to affect you using the knife so guess my concerns were for nothing. If I can grab one of these I will talk to Dave about making me a leather sheath. Have you heard when they are planning to drop? Great Demo as always Brother.

    I just watched the video again. To tell you the truth the only thing I don't like about that knife is that hole. I think it may be the weak link in that knifes design as far as snapping at that juncture. It would take a heavy side load or some serious vibration, but possible. Can you order it without the hole close to the handle? It seems it would make it a little less costly without the hole cut in it. Thanks for the great review. 👍
