I'm so grateful for this tutorial - I spent the whole day looking for help on what all the buttons were for. All the other videos weren't as comprehensive and plainly explained as yours.
This is one of the BEST tutorials around!! I am such a major newbie that I need very basic, hold my hand, step by step directions! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!!
Michele, I am so glad this tutorial has helped you get started with Silhouette Studio! Silhouette Studio can be overwhelming. Just take your time and learn as you go. Happy Crafting!
Thank you so very much for this video tutorial. I have had my machine for several months now and have been searching for videos that I can learn from. The ones I have found are teaching as if the viewer already is familiar with everything and I have been too intimidated to try anything. I was able to follow AND understand everything you did. I look forward to watching your other videos. Thanks...I am breathing a little easier now.
Yay! I'm so happy I'm able to help you get started with your machine. Just remember, you can't break the software so just try stuff. That is why they invented the undo button :)
I just wanted to thank you so much for taking the time to make this tutorial and to go over what each of the symbols means! I haven't found anyone else who has done that! It's so helpful for a newbie like me. Thanks again! ☺️🌟
Thank you so much for taking your time to make this video. It's very helpful to me! I'm new at this! I was feeling so overwhelmed and I feel like your video is going to help me. I'm going to watch it probably a dozen times before It clicks.. lol
You have done a really great job in this video, but you could have show the library icons to show what was available, would have been great because that's what I needed to know. I have a scan n cut machine which stops cutting properly after warranty runs out, I would have liked to see what I would be getting for my moneys worth. Thanks for video
If you really want to dive deep into learning Silhouette Studio I have an online video course I think you’d like. Check it out: craftychristiescreations.com/silhouetting-101
You'll find those from the Silhouette Design Store. You'll be able to download them to your library for free. Maybe I'll do a tutorial on this someday...
Hi Kavashica, if you have business edition of silhouette studio you can design there and export your SVG file to your computer. Then import the file into Cricut Design space to cut it out with your Cricut machine.
Hi Dear I would like to upgrade my Basic edition , But my Sixteen digit letters / Numbers can’t does not recognise it keep saying I have a Silhouette Cameo3. Thanks for your advice Dennis
Using Silhouette Cameo 4 Business Edition, how do you replace/redraw a wavy line accidentally erased when cleaning up the traced image... without using the undo tool? For example, when cleaning up a tracing of a pig and the tail is accidentally erased, how do you accurately redraw the tail? Also, how do you redraw a straight line between two points accidentally created by erasing the line between them?
Hi Tom, you can either hit the undo button or you can use the pen tool and draw out the points yourself. The pen tool is a bit difficult to use with the mouse, but can be done. to draw a straight line between to points you will want to double tap a point to bring up the point editing tool and use those features to connect the points. These are more advanced tools.
i’ve been facing that problem for nearly 2 months. The problem is: if i set the paper to Vertical ver, the cutting line getting off when the blade was going down. If i set to horizontal, cutting lines are still off when the blade going right side of the paper. That’s why, i tried calibration and placing paper for the right place of the cutting mat but it still the same ☹️ now im stressed out cuz’ I don’t know how to do with that 😢
I'm sorry your having troubles. Try turning off your machine and unplugging it from the wall and your computer. Wait a few minutes then turn it back on. Move the cutting head back and forth a few times and then place in back to the correct starting point. Sometimes that will reset things for you.
that’s not normal. make sure you’re using an up to date version. you find which version you’re using under the help tab. go to silhouette.com to download the latest version.
I haven’t done the latest update yet. It is possible that as they keep updating things it takes more computer power. I’m looking into getting more RAM for my computer so big program like Silhouette will run faster. My current laptop only meets the minimum requirements so I might be used to a bit of a slower run time anyway.
Nice overview - best one yet. Thanks!
You are awesome. You are a very good teacher…you made me understand.

Thanks for the information! I have one question...Is it possible to adjust the size of the eraser tool?
Yes! When the eraser tool is selected, a banner appears at the top of the screen. Here, you can choose the size and shape of the eraser.
@CraftyChristiesCreations Thank you so much! I am pretty new to this program!

Thank you I'm have so much trouble just getting started, I'm still trying to get the free designs they say it comes with.
You'll find those from the Silhouette Design Store. You'll be able to download them to your library for free. Maybe I'll do a tutorial on this someday...
Hello, I have a question do you have to necessarily add a credit card to get the free designs?
Could you use silhouette design space and cut with a cricut machine?
Hi Kavashica, if you have business edition of silhouette studio you can design there and export your SVG file to your computer. Then import the file into Cricut Design space to cut it out with your Cricut machine.
Hello... Do you have any logo's sample tutorial?
I do not have any tutorials on making logos. You can easily make different shapes and add text over it to make your own logo.
Hi Dear I would like to upgrade my Basic edition , But my Sixteen digit letters / Numbers can’t does not recognise it keep saying I have a Silhouette Cameo3. Thanks for your advice Dennis
Reach out to silhouette. They should be able to help you resolve the problem.
Thank you. I got my cameo a month ago and it seemed complicated. I already have a cricut.
I feel the same way about Cricut, it is all about what you learn. I'm glad I was able to shed some light on the software.

Everytime I’m on silhouette basic edition I’m trying to design and I keep getting booted off? Not sure if that’s normal for this program.
that’s not normal. make sure you’re using an up to date version. you find which version you’re using under the help tab. go to silhouette.com to download the latest version.
how do you color match?
I’m the fill panel use the eye dropper tool to match colors already on your screen.
Is any ones silhouette running slow? After the nov 30 2021 update?
I haven’t done the latest update yet. It is possible that as they keep updating things it takes more computer power. I’m looking into getting more RAM for my computer so big program like Silhouette will run faster. My current laptop only meets the minimum requirements so I might be used to a bit of a slower run time anyway.
