Gotta let their careers play out…
      these guys are still young.
      It is a process.
      Generational talent is a stretch.
Leaving the offensive state out of it, what qualities them as “generational talents”?
      Size, play style?
Honestly, what have they done thus far to be labeled generational talent.
They are are elite talents and Possibly Franchise cornerstones.
I’m an OG basketball fan. A fan of the game, since Dr. J was the first race of the league before Magic and Bird entered. When Pistol Pete was the the most exciting player the game had seen.
I’m also a long time Spurs and Celtics supporter.
      Various reasons.
      But my point.
There are always great players in the league.
      Always.
Historic draft classes in each decade.
      84’
      96’
      03’
Where multiple HOF players, elite talents, and guys who literally changed the game, evolved the game.
All playing at the same time.
Ultimately what determines a generational players is a guy who’s body type and impact on the game we haven’t seen.
I would say that only Wemby would qualify.
These others guys, are elite level players, guys who, if they remain healthy will more than likely have HOF careers.
I would also add, a guy like the oft injured Embid is more generational than any of these guys, in terms of play style at his size, his impact on the game, when he’s not injured.
No shade to these guys, I respect and appreciate their talents.
      Because I love the game.
But hold off on the generational talent label…. It cheapens it.
Ultimately, a generational talent, still needs a competent, complete roster to win.
Injuries will also play a part.

Just to put it out there, I think most magic fans understand that Franz was our second option this whole year, and did a great job for the most part. Yes he let us down in game 7 but he is young. Magic just need to find another big star who wants to win a ring or two with Paolo. Maybe try to snag Donovan Mitchell LMAO nah but maybe try to find a sweet deal with a play in team like the Kings for Fox or the Hawks for Trae. Or maybe try to snag Zach Collins from the Spurs for another big man who can play defense/offense as good as a starting 5. I could see the Magic Dynasty with those moves and maybe a decent draft pick.

I wanted the Celtics to play the magic so much more than the cavs. Not because I think cavs are a harder matchup, but because I'm tired of the same old matchups, 76ers, bucks, heat, cavs. I swear those are the only teams I've seen them play over and over. I just wanted a new matchup, I wanted to see Tatum play vs a team with a star player like himself, like Banchero. I've never seen Tatum in a playoff series against another 6'8+ big wing star with perimeter skills, closest one was Giannis but even then Giannis is not a skilled perimeter player.

It looks like the NBA may be entering a new generational pivot. Looking at the last few decades, we see clear generational pivot years in 1991, 1999, and 2012. The first of those was the transition from the Magic, Bird, Bad Boy Pistons era (1980 - 1990) to the Jordan and Hakeem era (1991 - 1998). Guys from the '83 through '90 draft era dominated the playoffs and NBA Finals from 1991 to 1998, after which the Shaq, Kobe, KG, Duncan, Dirk era started. Guys from the '92 to '98 draft era took over, right up to the Mavs 2011 championship. Then we saw another generational shift with LeBron, KD, , and Steph taking over. This was probably the most consistent era of generational player drafting, as there was one or two from nearly every draft starting with the 2003 draft. The Heatles championships through the Warriors Steph-led era fairly clearly marks an era, but it's a little unclear if Jokic started a new generational shift or not. We could count the period after the last KD + Steph championship as a generational shift, as guys drafted in the 2010's like Kawhi, Giannis, AD, Butler, Tatum, Booker and Jokic have represented the Finals' best players, with Steph and LeBron as "outliers". But I think those guys are too big to call outliers, so I don't think we've fully reached that generational pivot yet. It certainly feels like that time may be this year's Finals or maybe next, though, when guys like Luka, SGA, Ant, and Wemby will officially take over the league's title chase. But only time will tell.

    • @mobrown1198
      @mobrown1198 หลายเดือนก่อน

Nah. Point guards are leaders. Lebron is not a leader. His style of play, doesn’t win.
Lebron, doesn’t play off the ball well either.
Lebron gets assists because he’s ball dominant in the half court.
Him and Luka, Harden, all play within that same system, which is why they have so many assists.
Orlando needs some shooters, stowing defenders, and Suggs is good as the defensive, selfless, point in the mold of Jrue Holiday.
      Mike Conley.
and Lebron is NOT winning anymore titles… not happening in this era.
Lebron is not a point guard.
That era is over, teams are getting back to more traditional positioned players.
You can have a scoring point guard, if you have defensive, selfless big.
or a traditional PG who knows how to run a team and get all the guys to be stars in their roles.
Guys like Rondo and Jason Kidd, CP3, were great at that.
The Warriors, had Draymond, in the half court as a distributor who didn’t look to score.
Different from Bron, but he impacted the game on defense.
Bron doesn’t do that much nowadays either. He certainly isn’t guarding the opposing teams point guard 😂.
One thing Lebron and modern media has done is devalue the team aspect, and the importance and impact of each position.
      Especially point guard.
Gil Arenas does this a lot as well.
Watch the teams that win championships in this era will play more of a traditional style, more post and mid post, timely, rhythm threes, slower pace, value and adj possession.
Lebron’s way of team building, KD, it ain’t it no more.
Besides all Lebron is going to do is put up stats and his teams will lose in the playoffs, and he’ll blame everyone else, get the coach fired, and then bounce and leave the team in shambles, in the lottery for years to come

Well that and that is basically how Doc Rivers built a 20+ year coaching career with a roster that was much worse than the Lakers.
Sure, the fact you have to go back 25 years to find a successful comp isn't a great sign, but I assume there much be something there if JJ keeps getting asked.

Scottie Barnes will be at this level next year. You watch and see. He will average
    22ppg+, 9 rebounds, 7+assists per, 1.5 steals, 1.5 blocks. He’s a very unselfish player. So he won’t average 28+ppg. But he could.

I don't think the league will have a "face of the league" as much as "faces of the league."
We're gonna see post LeBron, KD, Curry, end up being Jokic, Luka, Edwards, Tatum, Giannis as the "faces of the league." There's too much talent for just 1 face. The only way for 1 face to take over is for it to be a guy who wins like 3 of the next 4 rings, unless it's Jokic because the league doesn't like his face since it should be Jokic as the face right now.

Its funny how you didnt mention Wemby who is basically the only player in the NBA that cares about winning. FUn to him is winning. How is any of those players head when they win their 1st title. Both Giannis and Jokic they both seem satisify with 1 title and their is no doubt in my mind both Luka and Edwards will be satisifed too once they win their 1st title. This what seperates a great player from someone how want to be one of the best players in the history of this game are you satisify with 1 title or do you want more majority of player they are satify when they win their 1st.
