Agreed. "How to use your brain instead of letting your brain use you"! Awesome line lol. Good one.
It took me several years to get to where I am with my intuition. Meditation and spending lots of time alone has helped me out a lot. I also used an audio subliminal to help me get better at recognizing my intuition. Many people don't know that our society works HARD to get people from being able to recognize and actually follow their intuition. Some people recognize it, but fail to follow it, VERY FEW actually do BOTH!

Overthinking is not bad itself, but you cannot let it stop you from taking action. You will never be able to predict the future or what someone might think or feel. So realise that your thoughts and your actions are different things. We all have dark thoughts but does that mean we have to act like that ? No. I am a big overthinker, but in the past days I have come to the realisation that I never really lived MY life. I kept thinking about this and that, for the last year I spent endless sleepless nights thinking about that girl but only now do I realise that it doesn't change anything. If I want her to know that I like her I have to act and not daydream about our kids that do not even exist. It ain't easy but as a videogamer I have learned that the path with the obstacles and enemies is the right one. We may stare in the Abyss and it may stare back at us but that doesn't mean that we are not the light. Keep fighting my bothers and sisters, you all the deserve the best, you truly do.

For what it's worth, I'mma leave a comment here... after 40 years in this world, I've found out these things to be true...
    1) love yourself... it is the greatest love of all (just as Whitney sings)... if you're pining for anybody else to love you it's because you hate yourself or think that you ain't worthy
    2) play... life is just like any other game, have fun with it and enjoy it... being too serious will kill all the joy of living
    3) dream...and dream big... because if it's true that nothing really matters then it's also true that anything does matter, seize the moment
    4) create beauty... whatéver you find beautiful, create more of it... that's about it \o/

I've also had this problem. And a problem of acting without thinking based on a strong intuition.
What helped me with both of these is to make a rule for myself - if I get a strong gut feeling for doing something, I always find at least one risk for it and a way to manage it, if not - I dont do it. Same rule works other way as well - If I get a feeling I should not do something but the thing must be done, do a risk analysis and management analysis.

I appreciate and recognise your perspective. However do not underestimate Lynch using transcendental meditation to deliberately shut down the intellectual side of thinking. And dont wait until you are 45 as I did. I agree that overthinking has kept me safe in many situations but life should be enjoyed to its fullest at a young age and the incredibly easy practice of TM will do just that within little more than a week. Shut down old thoughts to make new ones.

Overthinking, is just another person's interpretation. You are the one who accepted that.
Personally, everyone else seems like they hardly think at all.
"My mind is normal, it's everyone else who is hardly thinking at all"
Everything is a matter of perspective. Stop identifying everyone else's as your own, and become clear on your own definitions based on facts.
The first step, toward becoming akin to a God in your own world.

I remember reading that the brain knows what you’re going to do before you even realize that you want to do it, and finding that fascinating. It kind of inspires my mantra that, if I’ve spent this long contemplating whether I should do it or not, I probably already made up my mind ten minutes ago. Might as well start planning it. Some decisions need time, but others don’t.

    • @faessle4067

That is why throwing a coin to make decision is so good. When the coin is in the air you already know wich side you want it to fall. I wish you the best and I hope you dream big.
