After watching The Flash Movie, I came back here to truly appreciate and thank the CW for giving us awesome cgi to fall back on. The fact that this was made in 2014, was a TV show and it still looks good says a lot about the creativity of then vs now.
In the early days the show's effects were smart. They knew their limitations and artistically worked within them. The way the camera can't quite focus on Barry both hides the seam between the CGI body and Grant's head, and improves the sense of speed by allowing the camera to be imperfect, to not be perfectly stable and tracked to Barry. Meanwhile the movie legitimately looked like a joke
@jacobcenter7374 is sad that the rest of the series didn't follow this way of visual effects and cinematography after season 1, the later seasons except for maybe season 2 and 3 genuinely look so bad in my opinion

It’s crazy knowing that this right here is basically the best flash running scene. Usually it’s either the actor swinging his arms at normal speed or a cg model running with arms moving at super speed, but this was a fantastic blend of the two that I wish we got more often

Season 3 onwards is just bad, with the same mistakes that never get fixed, badly written villains, worst visual effects, a lot of badly written characters with no substance, the fact that Barry is just not allowed to evolve past his beginning stage, even though by season 3 he should already be able to do the hero stuff on his own, and a lot more that I don't even want to get into
Back when traveling through time literally gave us all chills, as we saw the impossible for the first time! Not like season 3 where you fucking travel through time all the time just for fun!!

This scene made Weather Wizard one of the best villains in this series for me. Man was such a menace that the only way he could be stopped was literal time travel. 👑
He was running along the coastline, and it was established in 1x06 that he could roughly run at over 760mph, fast enough to break the sound barrier. Considering how fast he progresses throughout the series, I would say Barry could easily exceed 1000mph at this point in the show, if not more when he has the drive to go faster as we see here.
