Thanks for watching. I was grumpy 😠 cos I’d a knee injury but that’s got much better with physio as you’ll see in my later vids. Just all those hikes over the years and thousands of miles of cycling. It was not that cold that night. I’ve camped in -6 a few times with winter down bag. Atb
I'm really glad to see that you made it out for another camp, but I'm sorry your knee is making things hard work. Loved that timelapse of you sitting outside the tent against the wall. Beautiful evening skies. Your stove is far too low to the ground. Looks like it's scorching the countryside. Time to get a taller one 🤣😉
Ha Touché!! I like to pursue a scorched earth policy to exterminate the ticks😂 Cheers mate. Had a nice afternoon at Settle today. I recovered quite well from the camp the other day and there are some people designing trekking carts that carry your pack. Mostly they’re in design or crowd funding venture project. Try searching there are some interesting designs on the horizon.
@@unclepeteswildadventures In that case, thanks for your good work in reducing the tick population! I can see why those trekking carts are looking popular. You'll have to get in there early and review one on your channel 👌
Hi, thanks for the video! I’m looking at buying this and wondering how useful/necessary the flysheet is? Going on a multi day trek in August and only have a 50L bag to pack 2 weeks worth of clothes, tent, sleeping bag, mat etc. Will I need the flysheet? Hope your knee is doing better and fingers crossed you can get back to backpacking again soon!
Yes I was worried about my knee but it is Much better and I am back in the hills again. 🙂 If you mean is the outer necessary, yes it is. The foot print you could swap for a lighter foil sheet or similar. There’s a couple more of my recent videos with this tent. The Buckden pike one is with outer only. If it’s only you in your tent I suggest getting the Tarpstar 1 (see on the Alpkit website. It’s the same size outer as the Tarpstar 2. Any more questions let me know. 🙂
@@unclepeteswildadventures sorry I absolutely meant the groundsheet/footprint! I’ll have a look at the Tarpstar 1, thanks for the recommendation. Glad to hear your knee is doing better, hope you’re out on the mountains againn
Hi, hope the knee is better by now. I really like the tarpstar and on paper it should be enough for a tall hiker, but in practice how do you find it inside ? I am 6ft3 and looking for something light which packs small. This seems to tick a lot of boxes. Also can't afford an MLD. Cheers
Might be a squeeze for 6ft three. I’m 5ft 7in. I had loads of head room. You could use two trekking pole in an inverted v and sleep corner to corner? Best bet is go into a shop and ask to try it. I found Ambleside most helpful. I do like the tent though. You could buy just the outer and use a warm bag plus bivi. Ps with time off, physio and Seven Seas joint care for a month I’m back out and managing 4 miles so far without pain. Also need to reduce pack weight. Atom packs ‘Atom’ is less than half a kilo. Cheers. Packed size (Flysheet): 25cm x 12cm x 12cm (L x W x H) Packed size (Inner): 28cm x 15cm x 15cm (L x W x H) Packed size (Footprint): 22cm x 9cm x 9cm (L x W x H) Pitched size: 250cm x 200cm x 130cm (L x W x H)
@@unclepeteswildadventures Thank you for your response and reminding me that Alpkit have a few stores. Will definitely check where the nearest is. All the best and glad you are all sorted. 👍
