but crane libherr I can't cause doesn't work near me.

2 different boom systems, classic "rope pull" system telescopes all sections simultaneously where as "telematic" or "pin boom" systems select 1 boom.section at a time.
Rope pull is faster, telematic keeps centre of gravity closer to the crane center for greater lifting capacity
