I REALLY like the combination of the mouse grey with oatmeal on top. Very, subdued and beautiful! The fish are such lovely and whimsical pieces. I cant help smiling when you show them. ❤
Don’t rush. I’m happy you have customers. First is the customers. Thank you for sharing, much appreciated, good luck on the sales. We know how hard was for everyone with the virus. 🤗
Thanks for sharing Vaughan. I do like that sort of pastel blue effect of the oatmeal and blue. And fish! I was supposed to be making butterflies and suddenly I was making.... fish... I blame you. 😆 They are great fun to make. xx
Thanks Tanya, I hope your winter is somewhat cooler than summer down there. I imagine it to be rainy like here this summer. What is the clay like there? Be safe.
I would imagine you are very pleased with another great load of pots and fish. @16:55 you have achieved a Florida theme with a Manatee clearly swimming in the bowl. At least that is what I see when you held it up. Thanks for sharing another video Vaughan! Cheers...Freddie
Thanks Freddie. We are opening up now and have something called people in the showroom again. They do strange things with a small square card and seem happy when I wrap one of my pots in a bag. One yesterday was so surprised they forgot they were mask less when entering. She was so apologetic. We are opening the border to the US in 3 weeks, I wonder what that will be like since we are still under mask and distancing rules. We now have 80% single dose and 60% double dose vaccinated, highest in Canada. We are being told that masks will be optional when we reach 80% double dose, with only 11 active cases here that is likely to happen. If we duplicate the UK and the US we may get locked down again. What a topsy turtvy time.
The guilt that one feels when we forget our mask. Has happened a few times with me even though they are not required I feel better having one on in a store. I think Florida will still do well as a leader of being silly about not protecting others and themselves. Always striving to be number one.
Great kiln load. Loving the fish, they would stop me driving by. Only caught a glimpse of the apple green flutted mug, same shape as the stunning Randy’s Red fluted mug I bought from you - I may have to visit your shop 😎
@@Vsmithpots well that's why I don't see that color much. Lol. I'm a novice , I really enjoy your classes. You explain and show all the steps for every project you do very appreciated. Keep creating and please keep teaching!!! Have a beautiful day
I love the new oatmeal and all the turquoise, greens and variegated blue in particular. You implied that your recipes are available somewhere - can you point me In the right direction? I’ve never mastered searching among a particular potter’s videos! Many thanks. Celia
2:09 both are nice. I think the combination works well. Inside white, outside cream color. Is the 'old' oatmeal the DL2? The mouse grey with oatmeal is gorgeous!!
I love the new oatmeal, very warm as you say. When you add ilmenite? is it the fine and about what %? I have been using the Field Mouse Brown from John Britt's book and loving the way it works with other colours, and the fact it is so stable.
Hi Vaughan, as always thanks for sharing. I prefer the cooler oatmeal, but both are lovely. Wondering if you have ever posted your temmoku gold glaze recipe?
My gosh I just love this entire kiln opening!! Can I ask, how do you keep your fish so flat? All of mine have become bowed in some way or another! We still want to see how your lovely wife does her work.
Another great video. Love the colors on this clay body. And the fish are wonderful and such a variety! What do you do with the pieces that you don't like or don't sell? Thanks again for sharing.
Hi Vaughan, I would definitely like the Apple Green recipe... although I haven't had great luck with rutile greens in the past. Also, the "mouse grey"... is that actually called "Field Mouse Brown"? I use Field Mouse Brown and it's an oatmeal glaze, mine comes out a light brown with quite a bit of crystal formation. I can't really use it for production because it can look almost white sometimes and then be a lot more brown the next time. If there is a different recipe that is actually meant to be grey, I need to try that one. Thanks for your videos, enjoying your channel!
Send me an email and I will give you the recipe. I am not sure what the etiquette is for passing on recipes from books on a published site. Copy write issues. It is the recipe in Mastering Cone 6 Glazes for the Field Mouse Grey.
@@Vsmithpots Thanks for the offer. I had the book, probably from the library years ago and didn't have great luck with some of the recipes, like variegated blue. Maybe it was the materials I had at the time or the fact that it needs to go on so thick. I do use Field Mouse Brown and I get a very different glaze than what your results are. I did a little bit of research and the recipes from the book Mastering Cone 6 glazes are online and the Field Mouse Brown recipe is the same exact one I have, so I guess I get a light brown glaze and yours is grey. Maybe it would turn out grey for me if I omitted the rutile, not sure. Most (if not all) of the recipes from that book also appear in John Britt's Guide to Mid-Range Glazes, a book I have.. Field Mouse Brown is in there in case anyone else might need to know. I would be interested in your green glaze recipes if you decide to post any of those.

Shipping almost doubles the cost. My prices are in CA dollars, the US dollar is 20%stronger if you are there. I am sure you can find a local potter to make one for you, even greener for carbon footprint.
Oh my, I love this man.
Am I the only one who wants to interrupt him to give him a hug when he shows the fishes and talks about glazes?
Thanks for the love across the planet, I hope it becomes contagious.

Both oatmeal glaze colors are beautiful. I bet coffee looks good in that warm oatmeal mug. Your mouse gray is so nice too. Fish look super!

Thanks, I seem to flute a lot lately.
Keep both oatmeals. I'm partial to the warm oatmeal/ Love you colorful fish.
I think so.
Really love that mat turquoise glaze
It looks good on the fish.

Wow even the birds love your pottery!
Bribery works.
Yes really love the fish. Especially the bright volors.
I have thought about under glaze painting some for even brighter colours.

Borders open August 9th to the States and Sept 1st to the world, variants permitting.
Like the new oatmeal with the green trim.
I love the new oatmeal with the green on the bottom.
Thanks
The fish are amazing! So thin and flat - no warping on those!
Thanks
Thank you for sharing your kiln opening with us. I agree with you about preferring the warmer (newer) oatmeal glaze.
It is the colour of a Latte.
The new one looks gorgeous
Thank you
Beautiful work as always! Thank you for sharing!
You are welcome.
Everything is sooo beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Ps. My favorite color is purple 😆
Purple is a hard one in pottery, unless you use underglazes.

That cafe bowl has an oatmeal that only does that colour in the gas kiln and has been hard to repeat.

I only add a small amount 1/4 cup at most to a 5 gallon mix, it is the fine.
@@Vsmithpots thank you, I may give it a try

@@Vsmithpots I will try that. Thank you.

We use mostly 455 speckle from Pottery Supply House in Toronto.
