    Another great video , love the low prices for a home...where I live ( outside of Los Angeles ) homes go upwards from 500K to 1,000,000 for something decent ... I know Mexico can have much higher prices depending on the home, and where it is...but at least you can find something decent for much less ...

    I think if you are American you'll find everything cheaper in any state of Mexico. That because the peso costs less than a dollar. I'm Mexican from Tabasco but I moved to Queretaro because the violence in my state and I found a big community of American here. So it's nice to see people from different cultures in this country. I'm glad you feel comfortable living here in Mexico. Saludos

      Hi to Both, you seem to have well knowledge of the SMdA area. I am planning on renting a large home early Aug 2018; perhaps for one week. My daughter would like to have a quince party in SMdA with callejonada and all. My father tells me that, those dates will be too close to the National Presidential elections and might be a chaos in the entire country. What is your take on the election affecting tourism arriving to SMdA? And do you have any recommendations on beautiful 6-7 bedroom homes with space for the party? I am not sure if you can direct message me via YouTub, but here is my email address Just in case... Mardie813@gmail.com - Diana

      aperezto why are you encouraging this cheap assholes to get medical care paid by the Mexican people? All these people do is taking advantage of the poor Mexicans taking resources that do not belong to them.

    • @Vbluevital
      @Vbluevital 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Orion Star
      That is my concern. Housing prices would skyrocket for locals and I can't imagine not contributing more, especially medical. The idea of it is alarming to me. I would imagine the local families suffer as a result of taxed resources.

      You'll fly into Guadalajara airport just as you come into the main terminal and before you go outside turn right and on the left-hand side there is a taxi station that you can pay approximately $40 us or approximately 500 pesos it's a 40 minute taxi drive. Book your reservations as soon as possible because October through April It's very Busy here. You may want to use air B&B. see video below

      Radnally you are welcome, but if you feel comfortable wuth the experience and with the language you can buy locally in businesses called "ferretería" where you buy hardware, "Tlapaleria" where you buy some small home supplies like sandpaper, glue, screws, etc., "Casa de pinturas" where you buy all sort of paints, "casa de materiales" where you buy construction materials (mainly in big quantities but not necessarily) in many cases in a short walk distance you might found a business who sales basic things like this. Usually in the center of small towns or if the city is big enough at least one business like this will be in the neighborhood or in the surrounding areas. Sadly they are disappearing in some parts due the competition and I say sadly because usually they are very convenient, but well at least there are options.

    Well seeing is believing! ButI did not see anything! Folks, San Miguel de Allende is not cheap- just Google real estate/you tube. There are many millionaires that live here. If you can find something 1/2 decent for under a 100k, you are doing well. The home values in Chapala are much better than San Miguel. San Miguel is a lot of fun, lots of restaurants, clubs and about 1/3 ex-pats-10k out of 30k.Elevation is about 7800 feet here- climbing stairs will wind you. I spent a few months here-besides housing, it is cheap. But I am looking forward to the Chapala area, much prettier,and much more reasonable. Not quite as high-5000 feet at the lake-you can always go a little higher to get cooler temps-but both are 'Eternal Spring' climates with large ex-pat communities. NAFTA has been a real blessing to Mexico as items are readily available today that we take for granted here in the USA. San Miguel, Chapala are safe- but I think the border areas-Juarez especially-is a war zone.

      Christopher I'm working on a video where I interview a Real estate agent in San Miguel and he says that you can get homes starting at $80,000 but if you want to live close to the central historical district you looking at $300,000 and up up up. The video will be coming in about four weeks look for it and tell me what you think.

      I did come across some homes on the outside of the town limits of an Miguel de Allende that were fairly new priced around 80k-so these may be the same. They were fairly small and not plush. These were the only homes I was able to find in this price range. Chapala is much cheaper! It is not even close. San Miguel used to be cheap- but those days are gone. It is a very beautiful, quaint colonial town- but it has become much more expensive to buy- rents may still be reasonable. For my money, Chapala is the best bargain in Mexico. It also has a lot to do- even more ex-pats there-and it is more beautiful. Puerto Vallarta is beautiful- but it is way too hot. I would recommend the Eternal Spring climate any day.

    Warm regards. Your videos are very informative and super! Just to point out - you are changing areas of mexico - causing rents to increase for everyone who is already there - changing the populations - more competition for housing - changing everything. Please be aware you have an impact on the lives of MANY. Once pristine areas - charming areas - changed by your videos. Good and Bad

      We're producing videos but it's the people that come here buy a piece of property and double the price for the rent or double the price of the property and then sell the property. The problem is the foreigners are charging more for a air B&B and rent this is causing the prices to go up also restaurants owners hear about this and they raise their prices. We're not a problem and we're not to solution.

    Hi, I have been watching video after video! I am amazed and truly thinking moving there would make perfect sense and have less stress on my fixed income of $1040.00. Could I receive and use my ssdi check there without any problem? What is the weather there i heard arond 70 in one video, dous it ever get warmer? Do they offer satellite tv there sis the WiFi strong enough foe a fire stick or roku tv? Thank you for your information and time. I enjoy you and your wifes videos! Cathy

    • @JerryBrownTravels
      @JerryBrownTravels  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Cathy in a previous video we mentioned that we were able to live here on $1050 a month to live at that low we were not able to eat in restaurants, we do not drink alcohol, smoke, eat meat ( those are more expensive items in a monthly budget that we do not have to pay) we only took the bus and walked everywhere. Today 2018 the rental market has gone up so you may have to look for somebody to share rent with. Also here in Ajijic the cost of living is much higher so now people are living in the the town of Chapala ( that is 5 miles away from Ajijic ) also to live here and get a temporary visa you have to showing income to the Mexican immigration department somewhere around $1500 dollars a month.
      Things have changed starting last May we have seen prices go up in rent, food, entertainment, just about everything. This areas become very popular.

    Interested to know how Americans manage to live & retire safely in Mexico. My assumption is that if someone sells their assets in the USA & move all that (or a substantial amount) money into a Mexican bank account, it only takes a crooked teller to setup an extortion. I have family in Mexico with much less who’ve been kidnapped & extorted for driving a new car even though it was financed.

    Hey Jerry, I've watched about all of your videos. You and Lori have done a great job. I had a couple of question but didn't know where to ask. A lot of the border towns by the US have poor at best waste sanitation. Can you flush toilet paper, can you drink the public water and how do you get rid of the trash? All of your videos show the areas are pretty clean, I had to ask... Thanks

    • @JerryBrownTravels
      @JerryBrownTravels  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Excellent questions Cliff.
      First question. The homes that were built before 2000 you have to be careful about flushing toilet paper. And the reason why. They used a smaller pipe and they don't have the proper slope were the pipe connects into the cesspool or septic tank. So the paper gets stuck because the pipe has been installed incorrectly.
      Can you drink the the water from the tap? Generally no it's not recommended to drink directly from the tap unless it is a new home were they have installed a water purification system.
      We have a water purification system but we still buy bottled water. ( 5 gallons of bottled water cost us under $2 USD )
      How do we get rid of trash? In our town they have a good trash pick up service that comes around door to door picks up our trash.

U can buy a 2018 Toyota camry, Honda accord, brand new for about 28k even a used one for 20k or even less maybe a year older or even a nice SUV for under 25k, under 35k so dont say that with 38k u couldn't even buy a car with that amount. Jerry Brown Travels Adobe would be preferable. Mexico is a huge consumer of asbestos, where it has been used in all kinds of cement products, including water pipes. Even today, it is still used in roofing laminates and other products to strengthen cement. There is no requirement to notify consumers of its presence in those products, and most Mexicans are unaware of the toxic properties of asbestos, or that it causes lung cancer, mesothelioma, and asbestosis.
