    Really interesting. I would like to see smaller homes, 1bedroom, maybe 2 max for singles, single retirees or couples, cost saving. Move in ready, modern. This is such a beautiful area and you can't beat the focus on fabulous art. You gave a great perspective. Add in a little about hiking, birding activities/groups. Thanks so much!

      I spent two weeks in San Miguel working remote in the summer of 2023. This city is so beautiful it is mind blowing. There are many places to hike. The city is almost as hilly as San Francisco. Just walking the city everyday was a fantastic way to exercise. And the weather is beyond perfect. I stayed in the city center. While convenient and beautiful, it was loud at night. These locals know how to party. When I go back, I will stay in San Antonio. In my opinion, it is the perfect neighborhood. Also, I have travelled the world solo and have never felt safer than I did in San Miguel. My dream is to retire here in 5 years. I've worked remote in 25 European countries, and the only city that I have found that could rival San Miguel's beauty is Florence, Italy.

    I have been living in San Miguel de Allende for 1.5 years and my gringa girlfriend has been here 23 years. I can say your video is spot on and you did an excellent job. There are a lot of expats here and there is a very active pickleballl community. Also many volunteer opportunities. I live in a 3/2 condo that cost about $200K and I just paid my annual property taxes which were $234. I mostly ride my ebike or walk. A car is not necessary here unless you live outside of town like Zirandaro which you highlighted. Most people who live in Los Frailes also have a car.

    We’ve lived in San Miguel for at least 3 months for each of the last 3 years. Your prices are low even for 3 years ago. We know some people who are paying $600 USD for rent but they’ve been in those properties for years, sometimes decades. Our rent for two bedroom townhouses has ranged from $1000per month (which included caring for the owner’s cat and plants) in Col. San Antonio to $1800 per month in Col. Obraje and a neighborhood next to Los Frailes. These were very nice, comfortable houses with excellent WiFi and security, but no AC and definitely not the fanciest in town. May and June are blistering hot and the winter can get quite chilly so fire places and space heaters are necessary. You can save money on groceries shopping in small shops and the local Mercado, but if you shop at City Market, La Comer, or Soriana, which many people do due to convenience, that goes up considerably. For example, we paid $1200 USD for 2 people and a weekend of visiting friends for the month of July 2024 shopping primarily at City Market. All of that said, it is still one of our favorite places anywhere in the world, but it costs a whole lot more to live (and thrive) in SMA than your video implies.

    Several people who live there and make TH-cam videos dispute not needing A/C or heat. There are times during the dry season where it gets HOT and ppl are grateful for their mini-splits. And during the winter, and due to the lack of insulation, space heaters are necessary. One person stated in a Facebook group that they rented a large home and it was in the THIRTIES fahrenheit. That’s cold! 🥶
    The first home was my favorite. Very informative video.

    • @rfink222
      @rfink222 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Mini-splits are necessary to me for a couple of months a year because it gets miserable hot. One year it snowed at my house in SMA so heaters a must too sometimes.

      Hola! If you were paying attention most of the people shown dining and out and about were gringos. Because of this it is considered one the most expensive areas to live and visit in Mexico. It's a great place to visit and spend your money. His small airbnb was almost $300us per week. Where I live I pay $200us more for a place that is twice as big and from my patio hammock I can see the surf and overlook the beautiful city lights at night. Just saying... Buena suerte desde Mexico!

    Some of your prices were incorrect in your video. Street food tacos are about $1-3 dollars. Restaurants are much pricier. We’ve been here full time for years, owned property for 7 years. Prices on real estate have gone up exponentially. Centro is mostly not affordable. The medical fees you have in your video basically only for the poor and working class locals people. It’s $35-45 USD per visit to good decent clinics. Still, better than the US! Hospitals will require full payment of services before they discharge you, FYI. Most of the homes you show in the video will start at 800K USD and go up from there. Thanks for showing the very pretty and 😂rich parts of San Miguel. Especially your Rosewood shots. But all in all a nice video with pretty parts of San Miguel. Most of it doesn’t look this way once outside of Centro! BTW San Miguel is not in the “Sierra Mtns”! We’re located in the Central Highlands. We live in a working class neighborhood with beautiful views, but be prepared for NOISE anywhere you live here! Guanajuato City is probably closer to the prices you mentioned in your video.

      Hola! If you want to apply for citizenship you need to do some research and after that do some more. You don't need citizenship to live in Mexico. As a US citizen you need to have a Permanent Resident Visa for at least five years before you are even eligible to take the Spanish fluency and Mexican history test to qualify for citizenship. Have you looked in to getting a Resident Visa? First things first....Buena suerte desde Mexico!

      @@esbiermann62best of luck with your dual citizenship process. I recently completed mine and enlisted the help of the firm based in CA state with me living in TX. I got it by citizenship by descent and the process was smooth with their help. They even helped me with getting my local consulate appointment. I ended up using Doble Nacionalidad express. Happy to answer any questions you may have. I truly believe having dual citizenship is a great advantage to have and no need to worry about the temporary or permanent resident income requirements. 😊

      You can find one and two bedroom homes for about $75K to $100K but the neighborhoods are not very nice and not much pride of ownership. There are a couple of places you could get a decent home or condo for $150K, but in my opinion you need about $200K to $225K to get a nice two bedroom condo in a gated community.

    Definitely a Sugar Coated representation ! More reality please. How do you use a gas space heater without a vent for burnt gas to escape.. hmmm.
    What about having a car there for long term rentals or permanent residents there , what are the logistics of that? How much is shuttle to QRO airport?

      The heaters use propane and the houses are not air tight, very airy with high ceilings. Permanent residents cannot own a foreign plated car. Temporary residents can. Shuttle to QRO airport about $75 per person.
